I love going  to modthesims2.com but alot of their stuff won't show up in my game because it wasn't made in Simpe, is there anyway i can get them to show up, or change it?

Hello! I moved this to General help so you can get some quicker answers. I need to ask some basic questions to get an idea of what the problem is.

1. Are you extracting/unzipping the file and moving the .package contents into the Downloads folder or just saving the .rar/.zip file there?

2. Are you downloading all meshes required also?

3. Can you give me an example (or two) of items not showing up?

I have to ask basic questions to get an idea of how much you understand regarding downloads, so don't be offended if you know more than this. ;)

1. They are files that you just copy and paste. They are not in folders that you unzip.

Do you have CEP?

Yes I have Cep.

do you have CC enabled

yep. I have CC that shows up if it's made with SimPE.

Oh let me try to explain more, everything works execpt when i try to put in a file that's not zipped or packgaed and doesn't have the orange S, standing for SimPE. Like after they stopped you from using quick installer you can't download certian thing off modthesims2.com, such as bruno's lipsticks.

If you're just downloading the package file itself, you should just be able to copy or cut and paste directly into your Downloads folder.

Can you provide a link to the lipstick you're talking about?

Those files are in RAR format.

Do you have WinRar?

I'm just curious, are you clicking on save or open?

If you're clicking on open, where exactly are they being saved to or going?

If you're clicking on save, you should just be able to download the RAR file then open and extract to your Downloads folder.

Um, I'm not sure about WinRar? Do i need it? If so where do I get?

I just downloaded it and it comes as a file not in a package. And when that happens it doesn't work.

You might want to get this (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html) to unzip your files.

Now, do you have some kind of download accelerator? If you do, disable it.

Like quick installer?

Think of any zip or of any rar file as a big sealed envelope.

You have to open the envelope and put its contents into your appropriate game folder(s).

Once you unzip or unrar a file, you'll have one (or many) files to put into your game. Sometimes there are additional zip files inside the original zip or rar - those would have to be opened up as well.

It is that unpacked content -- what is inside the envelope, rather than the actual envelope itself -- that the game needs in order to make the content usable.

No, rwills i have been playing sims for years i no how to download, it's just if it's not made with Simpe it doesn't show up. I know how to unzip. Thanks for all your help, anything else that can help?

Well, there is one thing you can try. Don't know why it works, but it sometimes does (and will do no harm regardless).

When you open the game, whatever your custom content screen is set to, set it to the other option and enter the game proper.

Then, in game options, whatever the custom content settings are, set them to the other option and quit the game.

Open the game anew and reset the game option custom content settings back to as they were before. Then quit, open the game again and set the custom content screen back to the way it was before.

Sometimes this will kickstart things to as they should be.

One other thing to check is to make sure that any packages designated Collection are in the Collections folder rather than the Downloads folder.

If the problem persists, maybe asking about it at the SimPE help forum will provide clues.

Just run it then drag the things you download onto the lawn and it does all the work.
