My game won't start at all. I was just playing this morning, saved, exited  game and shut down pc. Came back to play a few minutes ago, clicked on icon to start game, and get a small square shaped window with a red circle with an X in it, an "ok" icon to click on, the red "x" button to close the window and the sims logo in it. And thats all. I've tried restarting pc, going in directly from programs, taking disk out and re inserting it, everything I can think of, and nothing works. I've never had anything like this happen before.
If anyone can help me, I'd so very much appreciate it. Thank you.

This may be a stupid question, but.....I know the game recomends installing the EP's in order. Is it the same for stuff packs? I have all the EP's but only the H&M fashion stuff pack. I need to get the Glamour Stuff pack so I can down load the awesome Elvis painting Spookylicious made. Will I have to uninstall anything, or can I just install the Stuff pack?  Thank you very much for any replies.
