Title: How do I Make a texture thingy?
Post by: Sane Enough on April 26, 2009, 03:01:47 am
So you no how you recolor and alot of them have the grayed out texture? How do I get that and another black and white one?
I made a mesh, and I want the shoes on a different black and white pic than the body.
Then I need the texture map.

How do I make those two?

You mean the normal (a.k.a. bump) map?  The majority of the time, it's best not to have it as straight black and white, since it gives your textures very harsh detailing if your computer can support pixel shaders/bump mapping. (as I've learned the hard way in some of my older projects.)

Check in this thread (http://www.insimenator.org/index.php/topic,91741.0.html) for BlooM's explanation on how to enable a new normal map for a certain texture.  ;)

If you create more then one meshgroup in Milkshape you will need to add new texture files to the recolor package.
Or you choose a already excisting Maxis outfit wich has already more then one group.
If you clone the base game maxis nighty with the transparant parts on them you will see the recolor will give you 3 (9 total, or 6 i forgot) texture files.
body
body_alpha3(inside textures)
body_alpha5(outside textures)

You can use this outfit to add 2 more shoes to a outfit, you use the 2 alpha files for it.

However, there is a way to add new groups(as much as you like)to a recolorfile
Read this tutorial on how to do so:
