Try this it might help.

Go into your The Sims 2 Folder. I access mine by going into my documents>ea games>the sims 2.

There are a few lose files they are labeled
cigen and groups.cache.

Try deleting them.  Restart your game and it should be ready to play. 

My game hangs sometimes as well when I introduce new items that mess with the normal loading of the game like hacks and other modded custom content. I would also attempt what Caffeinated.joy suggested to be on the safe side.  Good luck.

Theraven you knit?  I am going to have to pm you because I crochet anyway.  I am debating on whether to just fit back the hunger pains or make me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and a candy bar, or drink eggnog and of course downloading stuff I don't need for my game.

I am not sure I am posting in the correct section. I have did a google search for my quest but did not find anything.

Is there a program that tells you yes you are messing a mesh and this is the mesh that is messing.

To futher explain. Say I download a hair and forget the mesh (which happens more often than I would like to admit too) then once I get the hair in the game it doesn't show up. Is there a program that I can run and it will find the meshless item and tell me what mesh I need to find. I know that there is a program that shows orphaned meshes but I don't think it tells you what the name of the mesh is to fix the problem. Thanks for reading and I apologize if I posted this is in the incorrect location.
