16  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Mariah Carey by D.C. on: December 22, 2007, 11:57:16 pm
What a gorgeous version of Mariah.  I have her Christmas album playing right now.
17  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / (FINAL UPDATE 24-dec-2007 )milla jovovich sim (with new skintone) on: December 22, 2007, 11:53:44 pm
What a really excellent version of Milla.  You really captured something that is really hard to capture about her, some essence that often goes missing in other attempts I've seen even when features were replicated very well.  Sometimes a sim just is magical that way.

Holy cats that is amazing.  Omar Epps sim in particular is nearly indistinguishable from the real person. Outstanding work!  On each and every one of them.
19  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / One Small Question on: December 22, 2007, 10:19:24 pm
I'm kinda worried about the same issues as you.  It's not just the money I've put into the expansion packs and some pay content I got last year, and not just the fact I basically pick my computer components on the basis of whether or not they could run Sims2.  What it really boils down to me is TIME.  I don't have much of it and I've taken some time away from my daughter to explore this facet of art as a creative outlet.  I still have loads of stuff I am proud of but lack time and energy to prep for uploading.  I fear a repeat of what I went through with Sims 1--no sooner had I gotten comfortable creating for it and amassing enjoyable content than Sims 2 came out and I felt compelled to abandon Sims1.

Sims 2 is different because it was a far, far steeper learning curve and this time around, with a small child, I have paid dearly in sleep so I could make time for the little bits I have been able to share.  So I just don't feel the desire to move onto bigger, better and buggier.  Stop the madness, already! LOL.

I'm actually a bit depressed over the prospect of Sims3.  I think Sims 2 gets suckier as it gets bigger and bloatier.  I won't even touch Bon Voyage now after hearing all the difficulties it has caused people.  I've just had my own game crash for no apparent reason just when I finally finished completing 7 custom sims and was trying to get them photographed and uploaded.

Please please please don't abandon Sims2 just when we finally got it more or less stable up to the first 3 EP's...more or less.  Wink

Not only beautiful but also very mysterious and interesting.  If she were real she would be even more beautiful than Adriana Lima and would be a famous supermodel!

You did a perfect job on them Smiley If only you could get Al to sit with his hands in his pants

LOL!  Can somebody make a hack to do that? Cheesy

Yes, I do  have the house but not uploaded. I made it over a year ago and I can't remember what Stuffs Packs and EP's I had when I made it.  I never uploaded a building before so I am not sure what is involved in packaging and credits.  I took a look before over on MTS2 and they had some really strict rules about roofs and I used auto roof tool so I gave up on the idea of ever uploading the house.

The first floor is as close to the show's set as I could make it.  Second floor is all just out of my imagination.  I did not make Al's basement, instead using the door to the basement to lead to a first floor bathroom.
23  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Jennifer Aniston on: October 14, 2007, 12:54:01 am
Thank you.  I am working on a new series of skintones and got a new beautiful hi-res photo of Jennifer.  I'll be exerimenting with it to see if I can get an even better resulting skintone than this one, which I am overall happy with.  But I always try to improve every chance I get.  I recently completed a Marilyn Monroe skin for Vera Marina to use and I learned a lot of new techniques.  Now I just need to find the time.  With a 3 year old daughter who is a night owl, it is hard to get time to Sim.
24  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sound Issue over Windows Vista on: October 14, 2007, 12:49:42 am
I have almost the same computer.  Mine is the S3120n.  My husband had to put in a new graphics card for me because my video was looking so jerky.  It was very hard to find a decent card to fit in the very small case.  I forget which card I ended up with, but video is still not the best.  What did you end up getting and how is it working for you? (I realize this is old post so don't know if anyone is following it).
25  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Got SecuRom? Get relief. on: October 14, 2007, 12:43:46 am
They said H&M stuffs pack has it too.  I have H&M.  I didn't know I was installing this anti piracy thing on my pc.  I wonder if that is why I have problems with so many programs I am using, mostly with my file manager program, PowerDesk.  I am having a hard time manipulating my files in ways I was used to.  I thought Vista was to blame but some things I am experiencing are not likely due to Vista.  Anyway, that is my problem to figure out.  I'm just commenting because it is not just Bon Voyage.  I am very mad.  They should put a disclosure on the package and people like me who are very novice with technical things can stay clear.  About piracy, I thought that is why we had to type in those awful long serial numbers.  That is not torture enough? LOL!
26  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Kim Kardashian By D.C. on: October 04, 2007, 04:29:11 am
A fantastic likeness!  Uh...SolidGoldFunk....she has a tape out and it isn't a workout tape, well not in the Jane Fonda aerobics sense of a workout anyway.  Oh, and she spends her daddy's money and goes out of her way to be seen.  In other words, if you think of Paris Hilton as Barbie, Kim is like the Barbie's ethnic friend doll that Mattel made so dark skinned brunettes like myself wouldn't feel left out of the little pink plastic happy happy shiney shiney world where underdressed overly endowed girls could own both a camper and a Corvette and a dream house, even though they apparently do nothing other than make countless wardrobe changes all day long.  And date a man who habitually wears purple velvet (at least Ken did in the 1970's when I was a kid).
27  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Jennifer Aniston on: September 28, 2007, 10:18:02 am
Vera, I was thinking of moving out anyway.  My philosophy on approaching celebrity simming is completely incompatible with their method of evaluation.  I will make some features "off" if I feel the struggle to make them match exactly will lose the overall effect I'm going for.

Like with this Jennifer Sim--the real Jen's chin is longer and the base of her jaw is wider than the proportions I gave my sim.  But when I changed my sim to match the reference photos, I somehow lost the look of her eyes that I was trying to capture.  There was less "twinkle".  Since I feel that the fun-loving twinkle of Jennifer's eyes is what make her special and attractive, I decided to sacrifice the accuracy of her jaw and chin.

When you think about it, some people call her "Maniston" because her chin and jaw are oversized compared to what people consider classic feminine beauty.  But she is beautiful to a great many people anyway.  I think that beauty comes from the image she projects of a sweet fun-loving girl-next door.  And that all comes through her eyes.  If you focus on that, you focus less on her large chin in real life.  So in my sim, I didn't want anything detracting from the eyes.  But in the small world of the computer screen, if you try to make an accurate jaw, that will be what draws people's eyes and make them go "Yuck" at the sim.

And there was a time at MTS2 when I think I could and did get away with decisions like that.  But now, reading their criteria and policies, it seems like they are emphasizing geometric accuracy over artistic interpretation.  My work would never survive such scrutiny.  Even if it possibly could, I get too much anxiety and inhibition creating with the idea that I will have to please a committee.

If I work to please other people first, I'm just going to go nowhere but downhill.
28  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Beyonce on: September 27, 2007, 11:43:03 pm
Hey I was just looking at the sims at Chaz Designs.  He makes some very accurate looking celebrity sims--at least it looks like it on his photos--I don't have a subscription there so I can't download any of them-- but then I saw his Beyonce and I have to say, I prefer yours!  She's gorgeous in-game! Now I need to find some suitable fashions for her.  Cheesy
29  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Beyonce on: September 27, 2007, 07:30:14 pm
This is a dead-sexy sim!  I'm so used to seeing Beyonce with her sweet happy smile so seeing the sim look serious, at first I didn't get the resemblance but if I compare to photos where she doesn't smile & gives her "smouldering look", it is definitely her!
30  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Lauren (L.C.) Conrad of Laguna Beach by D.C. on: September 27, 2007, 07:25:02 pm
You know, I do not watch the shows she is on.  I became aware of this actress during summer vacation when I bought some celebrity magazines to read at the beach.  I thought she was very attractive and memorable.  Your Sim is such a great version of her.  You really captured her look!  Thank you so much for this beautful sim.
