Wow R.I.P, that sounds freaky!
1367  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Picture Question on: January 17, 2009, 05:15:41 pm
Thanks, I will definitely try that. I try and try the other way, the part with trying to place them closer and closer together, but it never works. I spent 15 minutes trying to pose my sims once, and it was just 3 of them. It would not work. But the magisplay tray is a good idea.
1368  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Weird Dreams? on: January 17, 2009, 02:42:59 am
Hi Everyone,
This was from the old site, but I miss it, so I'm going to bring it back. I have had some weird dreams in this thread's absence.

I had a dream the other night that I was an emo boy (this is weird because I am not a boy and I am definitely NOT emo). Anyway, in my dream, my step-dad always tried to video-tape me no matter what I was doing, even while I would use the bathroom. I got really mad at him, but I was too small to fight him, so I just told him he was a jerk and a pervert.
Later, I had to go to school, so I got on the bus, and there were a whole mess of ugly brown bowling shoes up in the roof racks so I didn't have anywhere to put my books. So I just sat with them on my lap. There was no wind in the bus but for some reason, my hair kept blowing in my face and I got really irritated trying to smooth it away. Soon my girlfriend got on the bus (i don't know her in real life). She sat by me and I knew without asking that she was on drugs. I really did not know how to deal with her  during the ride over. I was angry and concerned, but I didn't know what to say.

It got weirder and went on, but some of the things I forgot, and some of them are too violent/inappropriate for this site.

Now y'all post your weird dreams so I don't feel like the only person with weird dreams!
1369  A Safe Haven / Teen Discussion / Re: Most Ridiculous Answers to Essays on: January 17, 2009, 02:17:35 am
When I was in school, I was in a good deal of boring advanced classes. The english teacher gave us way too much work, (like reading 3 stories in 1 night and answering 15 questions in essay form for each story). One time, I knew if I actually did it, it would not be done by the next morning. I tried anyway, and got through most of it. But one of the questions for the last story was asking me what the irony was for something in the story. I put:

"The irony is that I hate this class. Stop giving us so much work!"

It made no sense, but I was so tired I just didn't care.

But my friend topped it for silly answers to essays. For an assignment, we had to do a fake letter to a company to complain about how our t-shirt was wrong when it was delivered. She wrote something along the lines of:

"Dear -------,
I am a very busy woman, and I would like to let you know that when I ordered a shirt from your company, I actually intended to wear it. But upon delivery, I found to the offense of my very soul, it was too small. I am stressed out, and I hate my life. I know I wanted a large, but what you don't know about me is, I eat when I am upset. Well, my husband refuses to work, so I have an 8 hour a day job, every day, even weekends. Hhe refuses to clean, so I have to do that too. He refuses to cook, so I do that as well. I got kicked out of my church for fighting, I want a divorce, I broke my leg, and I just found out my daughter Martha is sexually active. Did I mention that she is only 17! I just can't take it. I was upset so I ate, and now I am an XL. Please make my life a little easier and send me a bigger shirt, lest I shoot my husband.

Sincerely,
---------"

She didn't get a good grade. The letter was WAY longer than this little blurb I put. I just slimmed it down so y'all wouldn't be reading all day.
1370  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Picture Question on: January 17, 2009, 12:16:54 am
Hi everyone, this is just something little. It isn't a big conflict or anything, but I have a problem that comes up when I want to take pictures of my sims in groups.

I will try to do a picture of two or more sims, and I can get the first two to stand shoulder to shoulder, or as close as I want them to stand. But if I try to put anymore sims beside those two, the sim I am moving slips sideways, or goes up in the air! I have the "boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false* on, and even with pose boxes, I can't get more than two sims close together.

Someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. I would appreciate it. I need to get some family portraits done, without weird looking sims.

Thanks

That sounds so neat. I am trying to figure out make-ups right now. If I can figure out how to do it, I will make them for you. Message me pics when you get a chance. I'll see what I can do.

1375  Simmers' Paradise / Facial Items / Beard/Mustache Combos! on: January 11, 2009, 06:15:46 pm
Oh please, someone make me some new beards! I think that the Sims 2 has a huge shortage of nice facial hair. I got a couple online, but I can't find many. All my guys are either shaved up or have the exact same beards as every othe guy with a beard. Plus there is hardly any combonations. If I want a beard and a mustache together, I have to choose only one, and besides the thin mustache and short beard on Maxis, the Maxis facial hair is just horrible. Most of my sim men are gruff and have a lot of facial hair, and Maxis beards are either too neat, or they just don't cover what I'm going for.
So, I would be very, very grateful if someone could create me some of these amazing beards, that actually fit to the shape of the sim's face. (there's a couple of them, like the Static X and System of a Down beards that hand off the guy's jaw and look clipped on or fake).
I'd be happy with just one, or all, or some. I just really need some variety to my men's faces. I'm sure that there are a lot of others that would appreciate it, too. I have one too many pretty boy sims. Thank you so much to anyone who is willing to do this.
Message me for more pictures if need be.
Jamie

P.S. I couldn't add any more than 4 pics, but a more detailed "Satan beard" would be cool too. Like with a thin, short mustache and a long pointy beard on the chin. Kind of like the Jack Sparrow beard, but one piece at the bottom, instead of two. Thanks again

1376  Simmers' Paradise / Tutorials / Changing Sim Heights with SimPE on: January 09, 2009, 05:34:17 pm
This is a tutorial I made for cesartje, and I thought I should share it with the rest of you. I know that there are others online somewhere on MTS2, but incase some on this site don't go to MTS2, here is my version. This is how to permanently change your sim's height, until they grow to a different lifestage. After that, they will revert back to the standard height, and you will have to change it again. Here we go:

*Special Note: Changing your sim’s height may alter their interactions with other sims. It may make hugging, kissing, etc. off center, because your sims are set to a certain height. Also their limbs may look odd. Sims are not meant to have their skeletons stretched. Do this at your own risk, and as always, back your game up before you attempt to do this. If you do not like the way it turns out, you can always revert the numbers back to the way that they were with this same process.

1. Go to your "My Documents" folder and click on "EA Games".

2. Once there, choose "The Sims 2", then when you have gotten there, choose "Neighborhoods".

3. Once you have gotten to Neighborhoods, you will see a few folders consisting of mostly one letter and three numbers following. Your screen may look something like this: (See the Neighborhoods.JPG I attached at the bottom. Sorry guys, I couldn't figure out how to move my attachments up here)

The individual folders represent each of your neighborhoods. G001 in my game, for example, is Rivierblossom Hills.

4. Click on the neighborhood you want (the one that has the sim of who's height you want to change). This may take a bit of time to figure out which Neighborhood is which. But you'll get it.

5. Once you are there, click on the folder marked "Characters".

6. When you open the "Characters" folder, a whole bunch of SimPE files will show up. They will be titled with the Neighborhood, then User, then a series of numbers. In this tutorial, we will use G001_User01264. (See the Character Files.JPG I have attached at the bottom)

This is the hard part, finding the file of the sim you are looking for. Here's a little hint that might make it easier to find your sim, instead of having to look through up to thousands of files.

*Newer sims (ones that you have created recently) will be down toward the bottom of the page.
Older sims (ones you have created a long time ago) will be toward the middle/upper part of the page. Also, the first 500 or so files are usually reserved for NPCs or Townies from the base game. My actual sims I have created didn't start until the 519th file. So you should probably start from 500 on.*

7. This is how you can tell which file is which: When you open the SimPE file, scroll down a little ways and you will run into a folder that will match the name of the file you just opened, but, it will have your sims first name following the title. Here it is "G001_User01264-Rayne". (See the Rayne.JPG I have attached at the bottom)

8. If you want to be absolutely sure that this is your sim, scroll down almost all the way to the bottom of the list and you should see a folder marked "jpg/tga/png Image". You may see two of these folders with the same title, click the one that is written in black, not blue. After you have clicked this, a picture of your sim should show up. If you see the sim you wanted, you have the right file!!

9. Now comes the actual changing of height. On the top half of the page, off to the left, you should see an option that says "Age Data AGED(1)" Click that.

10. Then on the right side of the top of the page, you should see another option that is also called "Age Data" written in blue. Click that.

11. Now on the bottom half of the page, a chart with a bunch of words and numbers should show up. It looks like this:

12. In the chart, look through it until you see a piece called "stretch (dtSingle)=" There should be either a 1 or a .94 after this title. that is your sim's height. Click it.

13. Across from the chart, in the bottom box named "Value" your sims height should be written there. In order to change your sim's height, you need to type something else in the box. The standard height per sim "skeleton" is 1. If you don't know what number to convert your changes to, see the table in #14. I got this height conversion chart from MTS2. So big thanks to the person that made this!

14. The numbers on the left are heights, in feet, of how tall you want your sim to be. Example "5 1/2" is five and a half feet, or 5'6". The numbers on the right are conversions to put in the box.
4 ½= 0.7500
4 7/12= 0.7639
4 2/3= 0.7778
4 3/= 0.7917
4 5/6= 0.8056
4 11/12= 0.8194
5= 0.8333
5 1/12= 0.8472
5 1/6= 0.8611
5 ¼= 0.8750
5 1/3= 0.8889
5 5/12= 0.9028
5 ½= 0.9167
5 7/12= 0.9306
5 2/3= 0.9444
5 ¾= 0.9583
5 5/6= 0.9722
5 11/12= 0.9861
6= 1.0000
6 1/12= 1.0139
6 1/6= 1.0278
6 ¼= 1.0417
6 1/3= 1.0556
6 5/12= 1.0694
6 ½= 1.0833
6 7/12= 1.0972
6 2/3= 1.1111
6 ¾= 1.1250
6 5/6= 1.1389
6 11/12= 1.1528
7= 1.1667
7 1/12= 1.1806
7 1/6= 1.1944

15. Choose the height that you want to change your sim to. Let’s say I want to make Rayne 5’9”. I’m going to choose the number that coincides with 5 ¾, which is 0.9583. Type the conversion you want into the box. Make sure you type it just right before you’re done. Or else your height may be really screwed up. (See the Last Bit.JPG at bottom)

16. Click “Commit” at the bottom right of the screen. A pop-up will ask you if you would like to save your changes. Choose Yes.

17. Now you’re done! Close SimPE and the next time you open your game, your sim should be the desired height.
1377  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Something About My Downloads. on: January 04, 2009, 05:47:59 pm
Ya know, I may very well have the same exact file that you . I finally have every one of my downloads sorted. It took me so freaking long, but I did it. I think I may have developed artritis in my hands. But I did it. I'll have a look at my big folder of 'numbery lettery downloads' and see if I got it. I also know I got something in my cars folder that's corrupted. I'm not sure which, but I got it narrowed down. I'm getting close to getting ever one of my corrupted packages out.
Thanks for the heads up, dynasty, I'll let y'all know if I have it, and what it is. I'll just post all of my corrupted stuff, incase other people have these items and are also having system trouble.
1378  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Something About My Downloads. on: January 02, 2009, 06:28:46 pm
Thank you.
I do have all of the EPs. So the subfoldering should work. I'll try the SimPE with the nonsense code folder I made. Thanks again.
1379  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Something About My Downloads. on: January 02, 2009, 05:25:15 pm
Okay, in another thread, I said that I was sorting all of my downloads. I have spent a lot of hours weeding through all the stuff I do and don't want, and sorted all of those into sub-folders. But I have a problem. Probably just a small problem.

I have a cluster of downloads that have no title really, they are just a bunch of letters and numbers. From my other downloads I can pretty much gather what they are and where they go, but these, I have no idea what they are, and what they are supposed to do. They look something like this:
"o2po297spae0w2nie9qn1wqn990e1" Has anyone else had trouble with these? Can someone tell me what they are. I can't even tell if I open them with SimPE. There's so many little folders inside, I don't know which to click on to see what I am dealing with. Is there some kind of download that is generally titled like this.

Another little question: Like I said up above, I sorted all of my downloads into sub-folders. Is this going to effect them in my game? Will they still work in a sub-folder?

Thanks everyone.
1380  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Stupid Freezing...AGAIN! on: January 02, 2009, 05:20:06 pm
You may be right.
Taking out bad downloads might be helping my game, but maybe something else is wrong, causing the Direct3D problem. Well, first I need to get all this sorted out, and when I have some extra time, I'll get my card checked out and a whole PC checkup. Fixing my downloads will probably make my game last at least until my son's birthdaty is over. I wonder why this never happened before. It just started the Direct3D junk a couple months ago. I have been playing for years. Perhaps the card was fine until AL, and I just don't have a powerful enough card to handle this EP.
