Title: Question about improving resolution of recolors
Post by: sunni9676 on October 15, 2008, 04:21:07 am
So, Ive been doing some recolors of basic things like counters and paintings and they look great. However, I have been trying to recolor a custom object (grocery store shelves with products on them) and Im encountering some difficulty. I have a high resolution image for the recolor, however I have to shrink it to 512x256 where it loses quality despite all my efforts, but it still looks decent. Then when I create the recolor in Simpe and enter the game it looks very unfocused (and I have my game at highest settings). I did receive a suggestion to build dxt3 instead of dxt1 and it did help, but not as much as I would prefer.

Can an object be given a recolor that is greater than 512x256 in size to increase its clarity in the game? Or is there any other way to get an improvement in resolution?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Yes you can use bigger texture files.
make your file 1024x512 and increase your mipmap level with one extra.
Then use this tutorial to import your textures:
