Hair recolour ME!!! but you must get the mesh http://www.xmsims.com/sims2/ehtm/hair/hair08.htm (their readme says don't distribute but on the site it says you can post recolours so long as you link the mesh, so...... duly done!)

OK, this is in no way really great stuff, but I did manage a re-colour on the outfit. Don't ask me how, I think it was a lucky fluke.
 
It looks pretty much like me, though I could do with a fatter sim body and ny hair's a bit shorter and a lot spikier, but I wouldn't know where to start with making a mesh.
 
If anyone's got any pointers for improvement, or wants the download file, let me know. I appreciate all comments good and bad!
