46  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: July 04, 2009, 06:35:43 am
As an avid sims player all I can say is that I am bitterly disappointed an angry that EA. have come up with this load of garbage as the future sims.
They had a marvelous foundation to work on and had the opportunity to create something really outstanding. There was nothing stopping them using the sims 2 and incorporating them into the new game engine and even tweaking them to be even more lifelike, no doubt it would have increased the pc. requirements, but what the heck you can't hang on to the old Pentiums for ever.
To quote Pescado "the shock the horror" pretty well sums it up for me. In my opinion Humble and his cronies should be publicly flogged for destroying one of the most popular games ever.
I check MTS2 and TSR. reguarely to see if the figures are improving and to find something encouraging or positive about the game. What I see are very strange and ugly sims and mostly complaints and requests for help to fix another crash.
This is why I never preorder a game or line up on release day. Here in Australia you don't get much change from a hundred dollars for the latest releases and I can use that money for better things than a very expensive drinks coaster.
It will be interesting just how many issues this very expensive patch (the first EP.) for this abomination resolves.

Amazing Isn't it, the Huh? were actually silly enough to send EA. money for virtual junk and now they can't install it.
The update is worthless it addresses nothing.
Install CC. and the game crashes. Yea yea I know, when the sims 2 was first released and blah. blah. I got sims 2 a month after its launch, problems? one or two, but nothing that compares even remotely with the issues surrounding this so called game.
I'm certainly not playing the game and probably never will, that is unless EA. tosses this thing to the garbage pile where it belongs and rewrites the whole thing as a proper extension of the sims, and gives us back our game.
As it stands now, it's just some half baked, ugly, ill constructed and written imitation of what once was a dam good game that is trying to attach itself to that games popularity.

Yes it is a marketing ploy, and yes they are dam good at it.
Companies like EA. hire experts to convince the public that their next release is the greatest thing ever and you won't be able to live without it.
Most of the sites will eventually go from the sims 2 to sims 3, or the humbles as I choose to call them.

49  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: June 29, 2009, 10:18:52 pm
Probably in two or three years it won't be the Sims anymore, they'll rename it the Humbles.
50  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Story Progression - what is it? on: June 25, 2009, 04:57:32 pm
EA. inherited that idiot in 2004. He's certainly been around, Sony, Virgin, just to name a few and has had a hand in about 200 games.
With the exceptions of Everquest and Starwars the great majority are obscure failures.
With the sims 3 aprox. 1.6 million people have given this person the thumbs up. Whether they like the game or not is according to EA. irrelevant.
They have their numbers for the base game and no doubt the marketing department will go into top gear to ensure they get similar sales figures for the first EP.
The sims as per Will Wright are dead and gone, we now have the sims as per Rod Humble, love ot hate it.
The couple of thousand out of aprox 1.6 million that bother to post criticism about the game will not make the slightest bit of difference to EAs policy. That opportunity fell away when the sheeple lined up in their tens of thousands to be the first to get the game.
So lack of story progression, badly written games, pay for content that should have been included, bugs etc. are the way of the future.

Precisely. What future for those 'granny pcs.' that that idiot Humble said would suffice once the cc. comes out, providing the game survives.
52  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: June 22, 2009, 09:18:54 pm
13. gb. just increases your loading time. Frame rate is governed by how much information your cpu. has to process during game play, ie. the more sims you have active at any one time and how much detail they and their environment have.
This is where the game falls short. A great number of people will not be able to play the game once it starts to reach an acceptable level, ie.bugs and glitches ironed out, more items to interact with, more attractive and detailed sims and so on.
The game could have been great and put sims 2 to rest, however EA. chose to write something substandard that used the sims reputation just to make a quick buck.
53  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: June 22, 2009, 07:35:31 pm
I think the main issue with this generation of the sims is simply the fact that we are quite spoiled with the amount of CC, that we had in TS2. I know it is for me, but then again my main irk about this game is once again the gameplay. I also totally agree with you. EA has destroyed the sims franchise, I wish MAXIS never would have sold them the franchise. (well..I mean they destroyed THIS sims franchise!) I'm sure the game will get better in a couple of years, but who really has the money to buy or upgrade a new computer to its fullest potential every 6 mo. to a year? not me.. Embarrassed
As I said months ago, treat these minimum system requirements with great suspicion. EA. has toned the game down dramatically to make it somewhat playable on low spec. computers.
The full realisation of what one really requires will become obvious once the CC. and EPs. are available.
To have this game as it should be, with for eg. sims 2 like sims and playable buildings will require a pc. that is well outside the price bracket of the average gamer.
54  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: skintone talk on: June 22, 2009, 03:26:12 am
thanks, jasumi, when I get the tools, but I'm wondering how did the others find the file data to make the skintone? this got me alittle bit curious to get my hands fully on this.
That would go some way to improving them, however the major challenge will be in doing something about those strange body shapes and the Torry Spelling jaws.
55  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: June 22, 2009, 03:20:42 am
That is true. But sims 2 only had a fraction of the problems that sims 3 has.
Also the characters in sims 2 were 300% more attractive than those weird things in sims 3 and that's before the mods came out.

Looks to me like our first paysite.
57  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Would people be interested in African American Puddings? on: June 18, 2009, 06:35:26 pm
There are other descriptions out there of those abominations that EA. has chosen to call sims. Neanderthals, babushkas fuglies, just to name a few.
58  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Sims 3 biggest launch in EA history on: June 16, 2009, 04:00:46 am
BTW, the contents of the EA online store is already "online", and I don't mean at EAs site.

Nice try keeping the pirates out by using their own installer.
Hosting that junk is just flattering EA.
People should just give it bit more time. The way things are going, they'll probably give the stuff away soon.
BTW. I've scouted around and seen some of the creations at MTS. and TSR. Pink green, and purple puddings, wow!
Any fence sitters like me that snoop around looking for something human that might make the game a worthwhile purchase are probable shaking their heads in disbelief. It may be a big launch but I can feel it may be an even bigger flop,
59  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Sims 3 biggest launch in EA history on: June 14, 2009, 06:09:36 pm
Precisely, with the tried and tested you're pretty safe, but if you line up for something completely new and choose to ignore and disregard the known faults, you more or less get what you deserve.
For those that got bitten the evidence was out there, one just had to look.Taking EAs. word as gospel is foolhardy to say the least.
In the months leading up to the release of this game there was more than enough controversy and suspicion surrounding their new game to make some of the sims 2 community sit back and think twice about jumping in blindly.
Unfortunately there are well over a million who wanted to believe that what they saw and heard in all the promotions was what they were gonna get. And so now you have a great many them waving their burnt fingers in the air trying to unload the thing on E.Bay.
The greatest launch? I wonder if EA. are including the second hand sales in their figures?
60  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Sims 3 biggest launch in EA history on: June 14, 2009, 05:28:46 pm
Rave revues and all that other razmataz are there for the gullible and to reassure those who will buy irrespective.
Pre Ordering any game is foolish to say the least, one doesn't pre order a suit of clothes, you try it first to see how it fits, same with a car, test drive first.
This so called biggest launch may be just that, but this is the first time I see a high profile game such as the sims being discounted after a fortnight.
If by the beginning of next month it hits the dollar bargain bin as seen at the entrance of many game outlets, will these fools that have been rating the thing in the 90s eat their words and try to retain some credibility?
For goodness sakes the opinion throughout the gaming community is about 50/50 on the thing, so how on earth do they arrive at such a figure?
