61  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Question on: December 10, 2007, 08:37:02 pm
Quote from: chilislavecutie;1060902
My simple mind always seems to bring about some giggling!

I didn't mean it that way, I just thought it was cute. :toothy8:
Did you think of a name, yet?

And what's wrong with transgender sims, anyway? Wink
I think, Claudia doesn't think anything of it, now does he? Cheesy
62  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / stuff that we don't need on: December 10, 2007, 06:46:19 pm
But you can only delete in CAS, if you don't have Bon Voyage. And deleting clothes and genetics is faster in bodyshop.

But if you want to delete objects, just go into the catalog (the buy mode) and from there you can delete everything that has a * in the icon with the little bin at the right side under the items.

You're welcome. Smiley
You just made me giggle very joyfully.
That's a nice reward, thank you. Cheesy
64  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Question on: December 09, 2007, 05:57:18 pm
Maybe the baby hasn't decided, yet. Wink
You could always give the kid a name that doesn't indicate the gender, like Alex or something like that. When it grows up, I guess you'll find out. Smiley
65  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Any way to build/buy "Residential lot" stuff on Community lots and vice versa? on: December 09, 2007, 01:44:23 pm
It depends on which EP's you have. With OfB it gets a little easier. Because you can have home businesses, you can place all kinds of furniture.

Without OfB I think the best way is to use a special collection. I don't know exactely where to find it, but there must be one on MTS2. After you put that in your collections folder, you can access the Maxis objects from there. I'm not a 100% sure, but I think, all custom objects are available everywhere. But that may very well depend on if for instance a bed is a clone from a Maxis bed or a completely new mesh.
66  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Question about packages on: December 08, 2007, 08:59:15 pm
The multiple package "extensions" are created when you install a sims2pack with clean installer and choose not to install into the default directory. The more people have done that before to that particular file, the longer the filename. Some people delete the "packages", but not everyone bothers (or knows).

It doesn't have to do with duplicate files, though. But still it's a good idea to check your downloads with clean installer every now and then for duplicates.

Quote
Will the end sim I downloaded use the original file already in my game, if I don't use the one that came with the sim with the name they assigned in the sim package?
Yes.
When I install sims, I look over the names of the custom content. The most popular are already in my game and I know them by now. So I unclick them, because I know I already have them. The Clean installer asks to overwrite files, if they are already in the downloads folder. But if one has sorted ones stuff neatly in subfolders, duplicates ensue. Wink

A little more information, please?
You use a hack or InSim or nothing at all (which of course won't work at all)?
68  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / where oh where has pleasantview gone?? on: December 07, 2007, 05:57:58 pm
Did you backup your old Pleasantview and put it in a save location and copied it to "...\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\N001" after you installed NL?
If you didn't do that, the game may have overwritten your hood. You can check said directory, but if you don't find anything there, it's gone.

I don't mean to be rude, but it would've helped to read the help section before installing a new EP, because this happens so often, the threads are full with it. Also, in the booklet of each EP there's a warning and while installing the EP you get another. If you weren't willing to heed those warnings, you now get to suffer the consequences.
69  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / download help on: December 06, 2007, 06:57:59 pm
It depends on if you use some kind of hack (I think there are several around), or if you use InSim to change clothes. In that case, you need to buy those clothes like any other clothes on a community lot or with any hacked dresser or coat rack. If the maternity wear is in underwear category, you can easily choose it, even after your sim's belly has grown just as any other outfits.
70  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / What does this mean? on: December 06, 2007, 07:44:28 am
It's a spatial rift! You're lucky there seems to be an atmosphere on the other side or else...
Sorry, too much Star Trek. Cheesy
Other than that I have no idea. Maybe it's a Maxis easter egg. :!:

And thanks for the references. If I've time, I may get into them later. Although something I've done has really choshed my ability to invite the Headmaster to some lots. (guiltily hanging my head) I think it was one of the undies downloads.

I doubt that a simple clothing download is able to mess with your game (aside from the faulty pets bodyshop things). I rather think it's a hack or mod of some kind. But I guess, you know the drill: take out whatever downloads you suspect (or all of them) and try again.

BTW, your English is pretty faultless for someone raised in Deutschland.

Thanks. That's because I'm a perfectionist. I don't have the heart to say anything at all, until I know I'm able to say it right. That's really stupid sometimes, but I can't help it. I like languages, but English is more than that, it's my passion. Unfortunately, people around me don't get it and think I'm weird for reading, watching, thinking, gaming etc. in English and despising dubbed tv or movies. Well, I watch my series alone *shrug*. And I'm weird, anyway.:-P

Were I not married, as I already implied, I suppose I'd be glad to disabuse you of that notion about American lovemaking.
From your use of the word, "mum" I gather you're either from Great Britain or raised there.
Why, thank you, but English isn't even my native tongue (that's German). But even so I am fond of a nice British accent and sometimes mix up phrases.
Now, for my ranting about American lovemaking, I was just poking fun at the depiction of a culture by the media. It's kinda funny for me as European, but I didn't mean it in a bad way, so please don't beat me to death with a shovel. :-P

Funny. I just assumed that once they were under the covers, they got rid of all that. But maybe not.
No. They really wear their undies while woohooing. You can see it by going into buy/build mode in the middle of it and use the design tool on the bed. As you know, it makes things transparent... Wink
Also, there are some custom beds where the sims aren't covered correctly, those look very funny!

Quote
Really? I'd not mind looking that over. (re: custom sex)

You might wanna take a look at the adult site of MTS2 or at XXXSims2 (pay). There are lots of possibilities...

Call a bunch of people to a party, and greet them in your underwear without knowing them all pretty intimately?
I guess, we have to wait for Sims 3 (IF they deliver on their promises) until we can enjoy that kind of hilarity. Would be great, though. Lol.

Quote
I should be clearer, though: I just would like to see a more nearly realistic reaction. Ardor, revulsion, embarrassment, whatever. Or an antipathy toward being seen in deshabille, except by intimates. I just think it would be a lot less garky than what happens, which is that clothing of any sort is irrelevant to the Sims, even if not to us.
I think, some of that may be included in that hack from dizzy. Haven't come around to test it, yet. But the inclination to be careless in undies or ashamed, that should be already implemented with the outgoing score. But alas...
It might be possible to do for a good modder, though. Which I'm not, sorry.

Edit: the physiologically correct mesh you referred to, might be crammboy's cock (recently also available for the ladies), that's the most convenient one. And then there are Warlokk's and Marvines meshes, that contribute a great deal for realistic enjoyment of the sims. Complete with good, realistic skintones.
73  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / New Computer Woes Help!!!!!! Still need help! on: December 04, 2007, 07:52:20 pm
That's exactely what I was saying.
But without a floppy drive that just might be a bit... complicated.
74  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / New Computer Woes Help!!!!!! Still need help! on: December 04, 2007, 06:52:21 pm
How did you use the Win98 boot disk if you have no floppy?
And how did you get the SATA drive to work without a disc (I didn't, I had to cannibalize my old pc for the damn floppy)?
And why doesn't the computer read a cd at all, when it's not bootable?

I didn't mean for you to install 98, but you can use the 98 disc to boot the pc and enable cd support and then it should read the not-bootable XP cd, if you go to the cd drive (I guess, it's D, unless you already gave that letter to a hd partition).

I am sorry if I didn't express myself properly in my second language... Sad

Edit: Duh! With 'disc' you meant cd, right? Language problem. When we say 'disc', we mostly mean floppy disc and cd is cd.
So, you were able to use the 98 cd to format and partition, but not to install, right? Ok, now I'm getting it. I still wonder about the SATA hd, though...

What? Where or when does THAT happen?

I mean, except in my own bedroom, of course.

ROFL. Are you usually the drunk that is horrified about last night's conquest or your respective partner? Wink

Okay, for real now. I know, cause I've seen it in dozens of American movies and tv shows, that Americans seem to have sex in their underwear. All of them. Without exceptions. Like our European ancestors at the age of king Arthur did, who only lifted their nightgowns. When it was cold in winter and after Christianity was forced upon them. No more naked heathen dances in the forest, sigh.

Um, yes... I meant to say that while the normal sim sex in bed is still of the American variety with their undies on, there are also some custom ways to have sex and they usually don't ask, if they are allowed to wear their undies, but do it naked. Conveniently, afterwards they are mostly shocked about their own state of undress and get dressed so quickly, that they don't see their partner without clothes. But if one of them isn't quick enough, or whatever cause, the other has the shock reaction. Both options are unpleasant. Now, if strangers are at it outdoors, one may be shocked, but a married couple? Please!

Ah. So without you saying so, it appears that there is a hack in some way similar to what I was looking for. But, as you say, it never worked very well?

Nope. Nonudereact is NOT about the embarrassment feature you'd like to see. But:

Sleepycat, what you posted seems to be just the thing I need! Thank you SO much! :worship:
At least it is for me. The other thing with the embarrassed mum in undies, now that might be a lot more difficult to implement.
