Title: BodyShop Crashes
Post by: Wolfenblu on May 18, 2008, 04:30:57 pm
1. I have Vista
2. I have removed all custom content still crashes
3. I have Free Time
4. I have all XPs
5. I have ran Chkdisc
I have other help but so far no one has had this problem and fixed it I know of, I love skinning and really need bodyshop.
Anyone have any clue of what to do.
I feel I am going to have to reinstall and I am in the middle of a Sims2 novel and I really don't want to do that unless there would be some way to save my hood. At this point I would like to try to avoid reinstalling.

Try deleting your Groups.cache, Accessory.cache, and cigen.package files.

If that doesn't work, try moving out your SavedSims folder from your "The Sims 2" directory to somewhere safe, and try running Bodyshop then.  You may have a corrupt sim you don't know about.  ;)

Title: Thanks, that fixed it!

Thanks so much I was missing bodyshop so much. The first item worked, deleting the files, even though I was nervouse about it. Worked like  a charm.
You rock!

How could you test for a corrupt sim? I was having the same problem, the deleting files didnt work but removing the file did.

When you delete a file within the game, all it does is flag the file for the CC so as not to use it.  Similar to disabling CC at the start up screen when you display it.  The actual files are still in the Downloads folder and loaded at startup.  Corrupt sims and meshes can then cause the game to crash, even though they've been "deleted" because they are still loaded.

The only way I know of testing whether a sim is corrupt or not is to remove them all and add them back one at a time, testing after each one.
