Title: Swimming pools Post by: ToniW on July 05, 2005, 06:01:33 pm On the exchange I see swimming pools in different designs. I can not figure out how to do that. All of mine are rectangle.
Title: Swimming pools Post by: kathy on July 05, 2005, 09:17:52 pm Ok MikeInside has some tutorials...Check these and then look under the building and see if they have any to help.

Title: Swimming pools Post by: ilikefishfood on July 10, 2005, 09:03:48 pm Well, I just experimented with one of the tutorials at that link, Kath! It ain't perfect, but here's a look at my first attempt at a swimmable lake. Thanks for the link!
(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y215/ilikefishfood/dive.jpg) (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y215/ilikefishfood/lake2.jpg) * I found the rock diving poor and pool ladder by made by Buntah at TSR. Title: Swimming pools Post by: kathy on July 10, 2005, 09:06:15 pm Oh that looks cool....Nice job sweetie!!
Title: Swimming pools Post by: ilikefishfood on July 10, 2005, 09:10:29 pm Thank you! I still haven't figured out why some of the edges work and some have gaps....so the the time being I'm filling them in with trees....but it kinda works!
Title: Swimming pools Post by: maniac19642003 on July 10, 2005, 09:18:40 pm That really does look nice Toni, nice work!
Title: Swimming pools Post by: gypsylady on July 10, 2005, 09:23:28 pm TSR's login in data base is down right now I can't download them
But that looks really good Toni Title: Swimming pools Post by: ilikefishfood on July 11, 2005, 01:43:15 am Thanks for the comliments guys. I've only ever built one house in TS2 ad that was way back when I first got the game in September. Long before the good stuff had been figured out. Since then I;ve been downloading and modfying. I'm far more interested in the landscaping. But tonight, I finally built my first real house with swimmable lagoon (the other pics were from a test lot, and there was no room for a house)......I still haven't perfected the water thing.....so I'm expermenting with a combination of lowering the pool walls and painting them.
It's 2:40 in the morning, and I have to be at work by 6:30....but my house sure is pretty. I must share before I go to bed. Thanks again for the links Kath'.....Night, night! Title: Swimming pools Post by: kathy on July 11, 2005, 02:02:47 am oh my that is awesome looking
Title: Swimming pools Post by: Grykon on July 11, 2005, 02:54:57 pm Totally too cool! When I get to build my commune I might have to get you to help design the landscape!! *laugh* Great job!
Title: Swimming pools Post by: jase439 on July 11, 2005, 09:03:45 pm Wow, Toni. Those pix are incredible. That totally rocks.
Title: Swimming pools Post by: ilikefishfood on July 12, 2005, 04:39:38 pm :P *blushes furiously and goes back to building*
Title: Swimming pools Post by: Grykon on July 12, 2005, 04:43:32 pm Are you going to be making this house available for download? huh...huh..are you? Huh huh? *laugh*

Huh huh? *laugh* Really? I've never uploaded anything before. Don't even know how! lol! Plus I have a whole mess of mods in my game and I'd hate to pass those on to anyone. Plus it's far from perfect. There're gaps in some corners of the pool so I've filled them in with what looks like rocks, but they're actually a stone loveseat and chair. If one of you guys wants it and can tell me how to package it 'clean' I can share, but I wouldn't want to make it available to the general Simmer populace until I master the art. Title: Swimming pools Post by: Katt on July 12, 2005, 05:18:20 pm I wants it too my precious :D Preeeeety house....lovely wet pond full of squishy sweet fishes mmmmm tasty.

So lemme know what I have to do to make sure you don't get the mods. Do I pull out my mods folder (fortunately, I keep them seperate) before I package it? There're also some new mesh objects (like the stones and some sea gulls. I think I got the gulls and stone loveseasts from TSR though; but with the rotation system they have, I'm sure at some point they're free. Is it ok to share that stuff for private use? Title: Swimming pools Post by: Grykon on July 12, 2005, 05:45:36 pm Go to the neighborhood screen and when you click on the house, instead of going on in to it, click the other icon, should give you the option to package the lot!
Title: Swimming pools Post by: gypsylady on July 12, 2005, 07:28:07 pm I would like to have it also pleeeeeease
Title: Swimming pools Post by: jase439 on July 12, 2005, 11:17:38 pm I think SimReal house is in need of a skinny-dipping pond if it ever gets ressurected.
Title: Swimming pools Post by: quilker on July 13, 2005, 01:35:46 am Quote from: jase439 I think SimReal house is in need of a skinny-dipping pond if it ever gets ressurected. agreed :D Quote from: Grykon Go to the neighborhood screen and when you click on the house, instead of going on in to it, click the other icon, should give you the option to package the lot! Of course, after that, you need to click the 'add an attachment' button at the bottom of the text box when you're posting a new topic for downloading this...or you can just post it here. Hope this helped and H.A.N.D! I gave up on building cheats...I spent hours building a tree house....I mean a real treehouse for the game, not just a house on top of a tree like I have seen so many do...but with the floors intermingled about the branches...was really cool...then I tried to get fancy and use the cheats to build a pool...messed up my treehouse completely. I was so bent...I'll leave the build cheats to others. On another note...I hope to soon get back to the simreal house...just have to get my time on a budget again...*le sigh* Title: Swimming pools Post by: ilikefishfood on July 13, 2005, 05:26:36 pm Ok....lemme see if I can figure out what to do *goes off to load game*
Title: Swimming pools Post by: ilikefishfood on July 18, 2005, 05:45:32 pm Ok, I've packaged up the lot (mod free). now what? Where do I post it? Anyone still interested?

Title: Swimming pools Post by: ilikefishfood on July 18, 2005, 06:02:08 pm Okie dokie. Do we have space to store it here? We can remove it after a fwe days. It's really just for the handfula folks who've popped into this thread.
Title: Swimming pools Post by: jase439 on July 18, 2005, 06:03:39 pm Wow. Those are some impressive shots. Neat pad!

Title: Swimming pools Post by: ilikefishfood on July 18, 2005, 06:55:57 pm Not to be a pest, but the file is huuuuuuuuge. Even zipped it's 63MB. That' just seems enormous! Have I done something wrong? Most lots I've downloaded are in the 20-30MB range (unzipped). Could it be because of the elevation tricks involved in manipulating the lot with the swimming pool tool? Is there some other trick involved in packaging that I'm missing?
Title: Swimming pools Post by: kathy on July 18, 2005, 07:01:34 pm woah that doesn't seem right at all. As I haven't packaged a lot before I don't know what you might be missing. Maybe when Sleepy comes on she can tell you.

I'm gonna go download a few equivalent type lots from TSR and see how far off my monster-house is. Title: Swimming pools Post by: Sleepycat on July 19, 2005, 04:14:12 pm hmmm I recall reading something about large sized Lots, has to do with how the game packs them with custom content. *isn't sure how to explain*
from what I understand it basicly packed alot of extra stuff along with what you actually used, ie; every recolor of every custom thing you used *mutters about Maxis* I'm not sure how you could trim it down without removing all the custom content...well if you know every file you actually used, then you could remove all your other custom content(everything that wasn't used) and open the game and repack the Lot :dontknow: Title: Swimming pools Post by: Grykon on July 19, 2005, 05:49:06 pm Lots of custom skins are probably in it....that does happen too...

There're no skins, and just the list of items that are on the lot; but maybe it's somehow stlll attaching all the colour-options etc. (I have hit the 10,000 item mark in my downloads). I'll do some research at MTS2 and Title: Swimming pools Post by: ThatScaryChick on April 13, 2008, 02:02:40 am Quote from: kathy;6340 Ok MikeInside has some tutorials...Check these and then look under the building and see if they have any to help. http://mikeinside.modthesims2.com/othertutorials.html Thank you for the link! |
