"I know. I do to. I've been thinking we should consider a sperm donar." "That sounds fine but-" Christie cut me off sharply. "You should carry the baby, I know how much you want to." ----------------- We chose a korean donar so the baby would look like both of us. And we were lucky enough to get pregnant on the first try. If you like to read on this kind of thing, there's a book I'd like to recommend. It's Between Mom and Jo by Julie Anne Peters. Wonderful novel.

I looked over, and then felt like a complete idiot when i saw the his bed was pushed right up beside mine. He was adorable. At last when all was quiet in our home, and Edward had fallen asleep Christie turned to me. "I want to have a baby. I mean Edward is my baby too, but I want to experiance it... Myself." Silence. At last I came to a conclusion. "Okay. Its perfect. Two kids, that'll make four of us!" Christie started to cry. "Oh baby." I whispered. And then, since it seemed like the thing to do, I hugged her. (http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg297/lolly642/snapshot_d58e6057_758f7cf0.jpg) Once we had confirmation of Christie's pregnancy we were thrilled, and when we went in for a ultrasound we were horrified. Multiples. Four babies of unknown genders pulsated to the steady beat of their hearts as I watched them on the screen. Christie was in tears. The docter explained the risks and advised us that reduction would be wise. Christie couldn't. I knew full well neither of us could. How could you choose who got a chance and who didn't? Who lived and who died? Christie just sobbed onto my chest as i tried to comfort her. Where were we ever going to find the money? Diapers alone would be too pricey. "Shh. Its okay." I wasn't even sure whether I was telling that to Christie or myself. Christie had paid maternity and I knew my parents had retired early for a reason but still, it just didn't feel like enough. We moved out of our house a month later and into a larger house. Edward had already grown so much. We had made sure to wait at least six months before trying again because we hadn't wanted a baby on the way before we were settled. It took us and additional four monthes to get pregnant so Edward was thirteen months old, and my did he get into EVERYTHING. Even our mango ice cream which upset Christie quite a bit. The boys decided to have a snowball fight so I brought Rowan inside. I looked back and saw him, his little tear-streaked face watching his brothers play. Instead, however, I called him into the kitchen, wiped the tears off his cheeks, and handed him my recipe book. I could have cried just from hearing his voice so full of such fragile hope. "Of course we are!" Rowans face lit up. In our house, momma Christie cooked, and I baked. And it was well known by our children, whoever baked cookies with me got two of what my children considered the greatest things in the world. Firstly they got to lick the batter off the various cooking implements. And secondly, they got to decorate cookies. And by time the cookies had cooled, the boys had come in. It was the kids last week of school before christmas. The shops all had their decorations up, and the boys christmas lists hung on the fridge. They usually get almost everything. Christie has a great job and I love being a nurse, (in my spare time I could go help sara with the new babies) so we had arrganed our scheduale so that one of us works late while the other takes time off, and then we switch. It was my week off and cold season so I was really apprehensive about sending Rowan to school. But he wanted to go to the christmas party and they were makeing cards for each other. And anyways Emmy had already caught so I gave his puffer and some tissues and his coloring book (because he has to stay in at recess during the coldest monthes) and told him to try not to sit near the kids who have colds. I wish I'd said that to all my kids. At lunch time I was unsucessfuly trying to get Emmy to rest. (http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg297/lolly642/snapshot_75949e8e_75a1baeb.jpg) She couldn't lie down because her nose was stuffed up and it meant to breathe, she would need to take out her paci, and the look on her face informed me that wasn't about to happen. I then picked up the ringing phone to discover that Collin was sick and I needed to pick him up. So I bundled Emmy into the car and picked Collin up. (http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg297/lolly642/snapshot_75949e8e_f5a1c3c1.jpg) He did have a temperture, and their docter had told me pennicillin would help, so I got it out and gave him some. He fell asleep on the couch before the others turned up. And I had a feeling they had all gotten it. So I made orange and cranberry juice with toast for snack instead of milk and cookies. Upon getting off the bus Joel and Jonathan then told me their throats hurt and Rowan showed me all the pictures he colored. (http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg297/lolly642/snapshot_75949e8e_95a1c41e.jpg) Rowan ate some of the toast, and I put Joel and Jonathan in the living room with Collin. Jonathans temperture was 38c so I gave him some penicillan as well and went to check Rowans temperture to make sure he hadn't caught anything. I never even made it to the kitchen. Joel yelled for me saying that Jonathan couln't breathe. Title: Chapter 10, Better days Post by: Devomuffins on August 30, 2008, 03:13:20 pm Natasha slid the batch of muffins into the oven, and then stepped through the door into the warm sunlight, that was just rising, over the horizon. Then she quickly crept inside, to find that Christie was already getting ready. “I’ll get the boys eggs, you get Emmy’s,” She whispered quickly. Easter always had to be a surprise. The boys just loved it. And now Emmy was old enough to enjoy it too. Edward was too old for the surprises. Natasha regretted that when he was the boys’ age they had been so busy with babies that there wasn’t as much time to celebrate. “Hey, Mom.” Natasha whirled around, startled to her Edward’s voice (he was rarely up this early.) “What is it hon?” she was slightly worried as to why he was up at a time as early as this. “Um, I wanted to go out tonight.”
“Where to?” Natasha was relived to know that nothing was wrong. “Just like, out.” “Who with?” “Um Shari.” “Shari?” “Yeah, I wanted to, like, take her out for Easter.” “Oh, baby. You don’t have to ask my permission to do that.” “Thanks mom!” Edward ran off up the stairs. Natasha could not help but giggle. Edward had really bonded with Shari, and she was glad to see it was working out. Christie had just put the last basket in place when Collin and Joel walked in. Their little faces lit up. And their brothers ran in, and they all yelled a bit and then asked Christie if they could eat their eggs and Christie of course, said yes, because what is Easter, without chocolate for breakfast. Then Edward came down carrying Emmy, who squealed with delight and spent the next hour playing with the wrapping paper. My cousin is (mom's half brother's son) allergic to it too, they gave him penacillin (at about 3) and he broke out in a HUGE red rash from head to toe. I guess that allergy runs threw my grandpa.
