61  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / Multi-age recolors in red of Rose Sims2 Ultra Long Hair on: December 13, 2006, 10:03:52 pm
Four red recolors of Rose Sims2  ultra long, two layered, free hair mesh. The mesh comes in child through elder because the hair is way too long for a toddler. These recolors were done for the Natural Redhead Project to make more hairstyles available in the many beautiful naturally occurring shades of red hair. The multi-age recolors are available in four shades: copper, carrot, strawberry blonde and pink beige. They are all binned in red. I have tried to reproduce the pink beige color of a friend's hair. He had flaming orange hair as a boy and young man then gracefully matured into hair with a fascinating pink beige color that is almost matches his skin tone.

Elder hair comes in three shades. The elder version of copper is a salt and pepper while I used pink biege for the elder of the carrot shade. The elder strawberry and pink beige shades are a paler version of pink beige.

Mesh Information: The mesh comes with 5 colors and is at Rose Sims2 in Download > Hair. It is currently on page 11. The download file is rosehair_0031.zip  Thank you, Rose, for allowing me to do these recolors.

62  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / All-Age red and blonde recolors of MyoS Female 06 Mesh on: December 10, 2006, 10:13:16 am
Red and blonde recolors of the cute, delightfully layered hairstyle by MyoSaek of the Sims Artists Union  (mesh MyosF06). The recolors are new textures and were done for the Natural Redhead Project  to make more hairstyles available in the many beautiful naturally occurring shades of red hair. The all-age recolors are available in five shades: copper, carrot, ginger, strawberry blonde and cornsilk. The grayed blonde elder shade comes with strawberry and cornsilk and the three darker red shades come with a salt and pepper elder white. The cornsilk recolor came out of attempts to create a pinky beige shade that some vibrant orange shades mature into. I got a very nice cornsilk that probably is more blonde than red but too nice to leave out.

Mesh Information:
The mesh is available from the Sims Artist Union  at Download > Genetic. The  hairstyle  is labeled as MYOS Female Hair 06 or MYOSHAIRF06 in the image. As of October, 2007, it is on page 6 but it may get pushed further back as items are added. The download file is called 1160924407_[MyoS] F_hair06.zip and the unzipped mesh file is called [MyoS] F_hair06_Mesh.package.

:blob6: If you try to access the Sims Artist Union but get a plain looking webpage that is all in Korean, the site is overloaded. Coris suggests trying after 15:00 GMT which is 11 AM US Eastern Daylight Savings Time or 8 AM PDT on the West Coast. I usually can get in between 6 and 9 AM Eastern Daylight Savings time.  :!:

The mesh is listed as MyoS female hair no.05 though the illustration refers to it as MyoSHairF06.

63  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Problem with Pets made content in non-Pets: The "Torso" Factor on: November 04, 2006, 09:38:09 pm
Ah, yes. There was a reason why I didn't rush out and buy Pets or install any of the Stuff packs. I guess if I get bored with the my charmed existance, I can go install Glamour Life or the FFP if I really want a challenge.
64  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Problem with Pets made content in non-Pets: The "Torso" Factor on: November 04, 2006, 08:45:49 pm
Good news and bad news. Marvine's fix cleared up my problems with the latest Peggy Sims donation hair AND one of their outfits that was behaving very strangely.

It did not make a dent in my problems with the download detailed three posts above.
I tried all beoboxboy's suggestion and deleted the groups.cache and/or add the new line as Marvine suggested.

Beosboxboy:  Does the dreaded custom content not showing issues only affect certain downloads? I have tons of CC and this is the first one that has done this to me. I have never seen the game destroy a recolor file before but maybe I've been living a charmed life. I tested all the recolors associated with the mesh that is giving me trouble. The pre-Pets recolors load just fine while the post-Pets recolors get demolished. I wonder if this is because the mesh was created pre-Pets.
65  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / WaaaaHoo! on: November 04, 2006, 08:36:05 pm
I folllowed the above directions and it fixed the problems I was having with the latest Peggy Sims donation hair AND a Peggy Sims dress that was behaving especially badly.

It did not fix my other invisible download problem but I consider this real progress. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have TS2, Uni and NL.
66  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Another weird problem I noticed with Pets created content on: November 04, 2006, 07:18:32 pm
I put a very recent clothing download: a pre-Pets mesh and 3 new recolors into an otherwise clean Downloads folder today. I carefully installed it because I had not been able to find it in the game after I attempted to install it the first time. No weird things, the recolors were just not there.

This is the contents of the download folder:

All of the files have a size that is normal in a package file. When they are viewed in SimPE, all of the usual files are visible. I did not attempt to modify or save the files. I just looked at them quickly. After verifiying this, I started the Sims 2 (Uni/NL EPs).

The game comes up and I go into CAS. The recolors are still not visible at all in CAS. I shutdown the game. I check to Downloads folder again to see what I had done wrong. The recolor files are now essentially empty and they can not be opened in SimPe. The date modified has changed to the time that I started The Sims 2 up.

I reextract the recolors and check the files to see if they were created using Pets. I believe so since the version is 4. The mesh was made prior to Pets and did not have trouble with earlier recolors for it.

This is the current free download from the Sims Connection so it is readily available. It is the adult male outfit with jeans and punk band T-shirts.
