76  Simmers' Paradise / The Shape of Stuff to Come / Needing a Little Bit of Help on: February 06, 2007, 11:41:00 am
Okay, but it may be a while before I get around to it. I'll try out the Helaene 0103 skin in game (make the screencaps during the Sims' CAS creation menu) and get those pictures up when I can.

That's good.  I'm glad to see that the Sim's coming out better than it began.  I apologize about the glasses in the skintone tests (is it just me, or does Mary in RL looks even more beautiful with glasses than she does without them?  I think it may be just me).
78  Simmers' Paradise / The Shape of Stuff to Come / Some skin tone tests for my Sim on: February 05, 2007, 09:39:34 pm
Here are some pictures of several skin tones I am considering on using for the Sim.  Ironically enough, one of them was made for a couple of BSG-related Sim characters.  Never the less, here are some of the ones I am considering on using.

xnymphetaminex- Thanks.

summer_wine- That's understandable.  I'm mainly going off of the episodes of Battlestar Galactica as a resouces, but I can also use the Q&A interview videos that are featured on the Sci-Fi Channel's website.  I'll try looking for a better skin to closely match.

Do you think that the "mature age" makeup mask that I've got on the Sim, the one I was talking about earlier, looks correct for the Sim?  Or should I remove it and not use it?  I think the Sim fits more with the use of the mask, but I could be wrong in my opinion.

Awesome!  Thank you.  Cheesy  Excellent work.  :headbang:

Thanks, xnymphetaminex.  I've made the suggested adjustments.  I think  may have done it too much on the cheeks and lowered the eyebrows down too low, though.

Also, seeing that there are times where we see Mary McDonnall wearing glasses on the show (which so happen to be her glasses in real life), I'm wondering if I should include glasses or not (the only pair I could find that closely matches the ones she wears are a pair that is a Maxis in-game pair).

Also, I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the hair that I am currently using fits the Sim better than some of the others I've found (the only thing I have an issue with is the hair texture, which I'm sure there's a better one for it).

BTW, I'm using an "older person" makeup mask on the sim to make the Sim appear to be close to the age of the actress without having to use the older adult age (I don't believe that Mary McDonnall is old enough to fall under the older adult age appearance that is a part of the game).  So those lines on the side of her mouth are intentional.  And I've also change the type of eyes I'm using (a pair from 3dconsortium).

Nice arches!  I hope you can do more of these (I'd like to get my hands on A-shaped Hall arches, like the hallways seen on board the Galactica on the newer Battlestar Galactica series).

I'm trying to work on a Sim of Mary McDonnall from Battlestar Galactica.  Right now, the Sim shown in the pictures is still a work in progress (I think I've found a better hairdo to use and I'm still trying to make the right adjustments to the face, which I think I may need to fix the nose).  I need some opinions and a bit of help to try to adjust the Sim to appear even more like her.  Let me know what you think.  Thank you.  :worship:
84  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Vin Diesel as "Riddick" on: January 28, 2007, 04:21:50 am
Finally, someone did a Riddick with the athlete body mesh.  Other versions I've seen uses the in-game body meshes.  This is the first one I've seen that uses the athlete body mesh.  Smiley  Excellent job.

Actually, there's a walking cane over at Rose's site under the magic section that could be used for the character of House from the earlier seasons.

Nevertheless, pretty damn good likeness.  Smiley
86  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Videos / A Video Dedicated to Sandrine Holt on: December 17, 2006, 03:26:13 pm
Thank you.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  Smiley

I plan on doing a second version of it, with hopes of featuring more clips and another song selection.  I haven't been able to figure out what song I want to use for the second one, but I will also include clips from another movie she was in called "Black Robe" that I managed to record off of the Sundance Channel, and a couple more of her TV appearances including "CSI: Miami" and an episode from the reworking of "The Outer Limits" called "Last Supper".
87  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Videos / A Video Dedicated to Sandrine Holt on: December 11, 2006, 09:50:07 pm
I know that this board is general discussion, but I figured I'd point out that this is post is :off topi: of "The Sims 2" as a friendly reminder.

A while ago, I made a fan music video that has been on YouTube for almost a month now.  The video is dedicated and about an actress named Sandrine Holt.  Many may recognize her from "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" as Terri, the weather chick.   Some people may recognize her from the most recent season of "24" or remember her from the short lived TV series "Once a Thief".  Of course, there has been a Sim made of her by lucentgem at my request from a while ago.  Nevertheless, I felt it was necessary to make the video, because I don't think a lot of people know of her.  I do plan on doing another music video with more clips and a better music selection.

Also to point out, there is no "Sims 2" footage involved in the making of the video.  All of it is footage from the films and TV shows that I have at my disposal that features Sandrine.

Never the less, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGXDpLTojQ8

Enjoy.  Cheesy
88  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims 3? on: December 03, 2006, 03:36:46 am
Short of making the game the most realistic as possible (including an M rating for adult content, etc.) and different gameplay, I don't see how "The Sims 3" could possibly be better than "The Sims 2" (think about it, what more improvements could they possibly do?  I feel they already made all the improvements from the previous "Sims 1" game that there is no other territory to explore).

Of course, this is just my opinion and I could be wrong.
89  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / How many Angelina Jolie Sims do we need? on: October 25, 2006, 05:00:52 pm
I figured I should clarify that I am not talking about celebrity Sim making in general (everyone's allowed to make one should they feel like it), I am just talking about the overabuddence of Angelina Jolie Sims.  Doing a celebrity Sim is a challenge (next to doing a Sim of yourself, of course) and should not be knocked on.

I can think of quite of few celebrities that have yet to get a Sim.  I mean, Steve McQueen (I attempted him, might try to do it again unless someone else wants to go for it), Oliva d'Abo, Stephen King (I've come across Sim representations of several characters by him, but I have yet to see a Stephen King sim) and some of the Presidents of the Unite States (I know that there is a George W. Bush Sim, but I don't know about anyone else like JFK or Honest Abe) are just a few in a long list of celebrities that go on being ignored.  I say try something else and not make and make available Angelina Jolie Sim #234532774932743 that you made.     That's all I'm saying, other celebrity Sims other than Angelina.

Again I apologize if I've offended anyone.  It was not my intention on doing so.
90  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / How many Angelina Jolie Sims do we need? on: October 20, 2006, 04:17:49 am
First off, I'd like to apologize in advance to anyone who might be offended by this rambling of mine.  It is not my intention to do so.  This is just my point of view and do not mean to offend anyone with my comments.

Out of all the Sims 2 sites I've been too, there is always one character Sim they have in common: Angelina Jolie.  Out of three sites I've been to recently, I have seen at least 20 Angelina Jolie Sims (this is not including the Exchange and I lost count after seven on The Sims Resource).  I have seen some that are very excellent in detail and are often dead-on to be classified as the "end-all-be-all" Sim representation of Ms. Jolie (ReginaS' Angelina Jolie sim is definately the closest and more accurate to the real person) and I have seem quite a few that barely even look like her (mainly because people miscalculate the size of her lips!).

Now, I'm not complaining or anything, but how many Angelina Jolie Sims do we need?  I honestly don't see why a Simmer would want to do an Angelina Jolie sim where there are already many of them (including the "Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider").  Seeing that there are already every version one could possibly do, I don't see why there has to be any more (the only version I can think of that has yet to be done is Angelina Jolie as Kate "Zero Burn" Libby from "Hackers", but anyone can do that by just changing her hairstyle and clothes, easily).  There are plenty of other actors out in pop culture that have yet to be Simmed or do have Sims but not as accurate to be dead-on in appearance.  I can post a whole list of actors who have no Sims or a couple of Sims that barely look like them (or at least from where I've been), and those numbers would be drawn out by the amount of Angelina Jolie Sims available.

I'm not saying that sites need to start banning any new Angelina Jolie sims, I'm just saying that I cannot see the point of a user doing and uploading their version of Angelina Jolie for download when there are so many to choose from already.  Maybe its my odd point of view (honestly, I've only done three Sim representations of actors, and I don't know if anyone else had done James Dean, Sharon Stone as Catherine Tramell from "Basic Instinct" and Elina Löwensohn and uploaded them before I had decided to do them), but I always had the oddest point of view.

Again, I apologize if I've offended anyone by these comments. It was not my intention to do so.
