Did you install anything new between yesterday (when it worked fine) and today (now that its freezing). CC usually doesn't cause the game to freeze though, in my experience...

My guess would be that you are having some kind of hardware issue with your computer. Have you noticed if your computer is running really hot? Or do you have any other games or things you do on your PC that cause it to freeze? (Like trying to play a video or something else that is video or memory intensive)

I found that sometimes, when my game is acting up like that, deleting the Accessory.cache, Groups.cache and Cigen.package from the Sims 2 file helps. They tend to get corrupted so easily. :icon_smi:

my computer has done that a couple of times and I've done the same thing that you've done. usually it was something that I downloaded (a hack) that wasn't compatible with my system so I would just remove it and everything would go back to normal.:) But then I noticed also my game would run better if I got certain updates from Windows. it also helps to run your game in a window cause with me if I run the game in the regular mode it runs slow.I hope I've helped some:)

To run in a window, change the start up target (found on the icon on the desktop under properties) by adding a -w at the very end of the existing string.  The -w should no be within the quotation marks.

Sorry, I'm so late I forgot to check back with this thread:) Is there any way you can move the window down some, but leave just enough space so u can just barely see the x and minimize buttons, but you can still click on them. The downloads that's gonna be the biggest headache, you'll have to go in to your downloads folder and look around. Try and remember the last thing you downloaded,  If it was a hack or custom content. Then start deleting stuff. If all else fails, you may have to remove your downloads folder and put it in a different area on your computer then a few at a time add stuff back into you game. I hope I've helped some.:)

The same thing is happening to me.  I have already deleted these files in the ea games folder.  I removed any recently downloaded files...still crashed.  Then I started removing folders by groups and putting them back in 1-by-1.  I got it to stop crashing.  The files were ones that I had for a long time, so i re-downloaded cuz I thought they might have become corrupt.  My game still crashes with them in. Could this be a simple matter of TOO MUCH custom content?  Any help is appreciated.  I am about to pull my hair out!

no I don't think there's a such thing as too much custom content (I have maybe 3 to 4 thousand files in my downloads folder:) ) and i'm still putting stuff in there. U may have to go back and take back out the files u re- downloaded. did u download some game hacks? cause some aren't compatible with each other. I've had my game crash too but once I removed (usually was a hack) my game stopped crashing it hasn't crashed in a while.

I do remember once my game was crashing because of some custom content I downloaded, but I removed it and it stopped.

I have already tried taking out hacks and newly installed cc-including new hacks.  It did not work.  As for amount of cc, 13GB for me is about 41,000 downloads in my folder.  I organize my stuff religiously.  All of my new stuff is put in a special folder.  I took out the new stuff, and it still crashed.  When I took out a folder of items I had for a while, it stopped crashing.  None of the items were new.  I thought that maybe the folder was corrupt, so I re-downloaded the items and put them in, but my game still crashes.  I have also run my hack conflict detector program.  My husband is going to get me some more RAM.  If that doesn't work for the crashing, at least my computer will run faster.  All I have to say is I hate PC's. They're too touchy.  Love my mac, hate my PC.  The only reason I have a PC i cuz my game runs faster on an actual PC instead of my partitioned mac drive.  But my mac never crashed with the game-mac version and PC version on a partitioned drive. Yeah Apple!
Anyway, enough ranting.  I might be having a conflict between two cc items.  Here goes more days of trying to track it down.

i had too much content
it takes sims longer to load the more custom content i have installed
maybe cause i have soo many other programes on my computer?

and the window... it looks the same as regular full screen sims, except there is the bar with the start up window at the bottome... so i cant even reach the X or minimize :/

ooh I thought I had a lot of downloads, 41,000. Wow. but yeah I think it's som cc that's conflicting. I hope everything works out I know how frustrating it can be trying to figure out what's causing the game to crash.

Wow I didn't know u could have too much cc,yes it will take longer to load the more cc that u have so you may have to get rid of some older stuff that u don't use. and the window, what I did was go in game to the options and adjust the screen size to make it smaller then move the screen down some.(i think I moved it all the way down to the bottom of my monitor) Then I go back to the options to make the screen bigger. That way u can grab the top of the window. It took me a couple of tries to get the screen just right.
