Title: Lady Rose's Sim House Portfolio
Post by: ladyrose on September 15, 2010, 08:54:43 am
Wow...I have posted on InSim in, literally, years. So many changes on here! I'm still stuck playing with Sims 2 up to OFB though =[. Anyway, I build tons of homes...and I figure instead of just being lame and keeping my portfolio of houses to myself, I would show them to you lovely forumers!

Note: I use a lot of CC in my game, and if you want to know where a piece came from then ask, I'll try my best to figure it out.  :D

So the first house 'up-for-sale' (to my simmies I mean, since I like to pretend to be an estate agent for them too haha) is a grandiose ridiculous palace that errs on the <possible> side of monstrosity >_<

I plan to update a lot because I build a lot, hence my own thread. Hope you like!

Very immaculate looking, what a walk to the mailbox lol.  Can't wait to see more!

My PC would gag and gasp for air if I ever tried playing a lot that huge. WOW!!! Talk about some heavy duty high society living. I second HappyThoughts notion on looking forward to see more. :D

Haha, yeah, the mail would probably get collected by a maid if you had that much money though >_<

As to my comp, its a Mac Pro (really I should be using it for work related things but hey...sims beckons) so it doesn't seem to mind the heavy memory/graphics demands. =P

UPDATE:

Here's my next sim home for you to have a look at (this is an update because photobucket was taking ages >_<). Its asian inspired, although not all that authentic because I've only just started on using the boolProp elevation cheat. And I'm struggling with it haha. Hopefully I won't make anything too deformed. This house offers some tranquility in opposition to the garishness of the previous home.

Ha, yeah, I haven't been around in ages as well. I mean, I've stalked, but not much more. 'Bout time I get into the swing of things though, lol.

Definitely on board with HappyThoughts and Kaoz666, only from what I've seen so far, I look forward to many more!

That palace is truly huge and magnificent! Though my computer wouldn't just gag or gasp for air, it would flatline at the drop of a custom object :P

Love love love  3love the second house. You can tell it's Asian, but not too conventionally so either. I don't think I've ever seen a house like that, amazing!  1rock

Are you making that Sultan's Palace available for download?

Why thank you ^_^ I'm sure someone else has done one which is similar, but thats a lovely compliment.

Errm, well I'm pleased you think its that good, but its got a ton of CC in which I'd have to find all the relative artists for and look up their policies! I could remove the CC and just give you the layout with a list of CC to find...I'll have a think about it, and see just how much CC is in there before giving you a definite answer. If anyone else is interested then I'd probably be more likely to search around.

Anyway, moving on...

This is my next Simmy home for you to oogle, or rather, its three homes all built next to each other! I haven't got Apartment Life so this is as close to apartments as my simmies are going to get for now. All the homes are identical, and are big enough for one person. Perfect if you've just come out of Uni, and have two friends you want to live close to (but not with haha)!

Ooh, like a row of town houses. It has a classic (I'm thinking brick row houses) style to it, but with a more modern appeal to it. I love them!
Awesome work!  1rock

Hehe thank you. While I'm online I figure I'll post again! Also been trying my hand at recolouring [but thats over at ISA].

Here's a modern looking thing, I liken it to a converted multi-storey car park because of the pillars beneath it! Its clean and functional though and fits anyone who likes that 'cool' [as in temperature] kind of living.

EDIT:

Right well, after a lot of internet 'legwork' I might be able to put up *most* of the Sultan's Palace! That is, if anyone wants it still? I'll have to remove a couple of items because of certain creators Policies *gnashes teeth* BUT I will put a reference to them as a friendly suggestion for those who are interested enough to go and get them. Also some of the content is from sites that are either a) dead or b) don't have a policy/TOU, so I'm going to go with the vibe that they were/are awesome and let us use their stuff...until they correct me.

Please make known your stance on the matter [i.e. whether you'd be interested in the Palace, or any other houses]. Thank you!

Ooh, I like the sleek modern look to it. Though my favorite part about it would be the pull that continues underneath. Awesome sauce!  3yay

I'd love to download the Sultan's palace, but my comp would implode me thinks. Or explode. Or both simultaneously.
However, I think that many other people are interested.

Haha thanks! Well, I guess I'll go into the game soon then and remove the content that can't be uploaded and package it up [again].

Heres a new one, really quaint and a bit sickly in some ways [too much pink for my liking, I could never live in it]. It looks really nice in the neighbourhood though, and I imagine it would probably suit an older couple right down to the ground!

Ooh I love it! And not just for an older couple, I'd use for a smaller family too. A starter maybe? I think that could work too. Either way, love the lines. Especially the front of the house, with that corner window.  2heart

Ah, sorry for not replying for a while! Lots of things have been happening outside of the Sim-World, so I was taking a little break. But I'm back! And thank you for your kind words ^_^ I guess it could be a starter home, if it wasn't for the price haha. A second home perhaps.
Heres my next home, a large traditional style home with lots of room, a big garden and a greenhouse for green-fingered sims.

note: I still haven't uploaded the sultan's palace because I haven't been in-game much, this is an older house I made >_< sorry!

Thats a nice home, very detailed yard.  I like the way you made the roof on the greenhouse, very nice touch. A double fireplace even OO la la. Keep up the good work, and we all patiently await your posts, no worries.  It takes time to post updates even for the simplest things, so don't apologize for having a life in between them lol.  Cheers

Heres a home I finished making literally five minutes ago [hence no estate agent type stuff yet, I'll update it when i go back in to get proper shots]. I am so pleased with it, that I had to share! My first ever properly-used boolProp home! Yay! Its taken me about 3 hours to make, on and off, because of all the bridges, but I had the idea in mind from the beginning and I just couldn't let it go. Anyway, without any further ado;

A Japanese/Chinese Mixed-Theme house Preview!

These are nice houses! That last one looks especially great, I love the arched bridges. ^_^ I would love to do them myself but haven't gotten around to it.

Title: Re: Lady Rose's Sim House Portfolio
Post by: HappyThoughts on November 02, 2010, 02:23:55 pm
Is the inside fully furnished? Or are you still finishing?  I have yet to figure out the boolprop stuff, only used the moveobjects cheat for building.   Very pretty landscaping, the bridges are the perfect touch.

I'm still curious how you made the roof to the green house in your pic of the Traditional Country Estate, I still love that.

Title: Re: Lady Rose's Sim House Portfolio
Post by: ladyrose on November 03, 2010, 10:26:11 am
Thank you both! I plan to go in game today and take some proper shots of it.

HappyThoughts Its all finished. Believe it or not, I furnish before I finish off the landscaping so the house is always the first thing done. For you, here is how I did the greenhouse -
Lethe's Victorian Greenhouse (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=268213")
(Mod The Sims Link)

Its gives you all the side windows and roof windows you need to make it. Plus you can use it to make modern/space age stuff too (something I'm still playing around with in my game)!

Hopefully I will have more things to pop up on here soon.

Thank you so much for the link to those, I really do appreciate that.  Will be a nice add to my already overused roofing selection.   ;D  Furnishing the houses are always the last thing I do, especially when I'm designing for a particular family's style.  Turns into work more than play lol.  Keep up your good work too, and I hope your finding time to play too.  Cheers

caffeinated.joy - Thanks for changing the link for me, must've pasted more than once by accident or something >_<

HappyThoughts - Glad they'll be of use to you. Tis one of my favourite CC sets.

I finally come bearing proper pictures of the Japanese/Chinese house. My games been crashing lately for no apparent reason (I quarantine all my CC so I've tried taking bits and pieces out that have gone in recently), but it won't stop me trying to make my houses haha!

Heres the final mock up, the only thing I forgot to put is that its fully furnished, but you can see that in the pics.

Hopefully its okay to reply to my own thread, even though noone else has for a while. For those who check back in, I've got one of my older houses here that I'd like to share with you. It got a kind of Mexican/Mediterranean feel, I think, so I hope you like it. I thought it would be nice to show a 'warm' house in all this bad weather we're having (over here in England).

I think you can reply to your posts aslong as a full day has passed, especially if your updating.

I have a question for you now, in the first picture of the Mexican/Mediterranean home, there's a building to the right.  Looks pretty cool from what I can see, will you be sharing any pics of that one too?

Yep, HappyThoughts has it right. As long as at least 24 hours has passed, you can reply to yourself. :)

Aaah, okay, I will bear the 24 hours in mind next time =]

HappyThoughts - yes, I will share some pictures of that home if you'd like. I'll go into the game and take some pics since I haven't got any yet. I guess it kind of got overlooked when I was having a building spree haha.

I haven't updated in a while, mostly because of the snow over here in England (I don't know if any of you have heard/experienced any of that?) but I guess also because my partners had some time off and we spent it together.

Anywho, moving on, HappyThoughts heres that house you were asking about! Its actually a sort of apartment complex, a peaceful one I always imagine, where people go to be calm and do a bit of soul searching. As usual, it comes fully furnished.

Ooh, love this floor plan! The house is amazing! And is that an indoor pool?
Awesome work  1rock

Title: Re: Lady Rose's Sim House Portfolio
Post by: ladyrose on January 12, 2011, 06:13:21 am
Thank you! Actually the pool is all outside, but it surrounds the whole of the house (hence the roof garden, otherwise they'd have no greenery! O_O ), I guess if simmies were really people they could use the pool to swim in, because they could just hop over the mini fence, but simmies being simmies, they can't 'cos I didn't give them a ladder or a diving board haha.  >:D

I got bought Bon Voyage for Xmas by my fiance so I should have some weird and wacky (and hopefully some nice ones too) holiday destinations to show soon. Meanwhile, enjoy a random house I made a very long time ago, in a traditional sort of style, but with an "eco-friendly" twist.

Ah! I guess from the angle it looked like an indoor pool. LOL though! I sometimes do that too. They can get quite annoying with pools around, lol  1whistle

Ooh! You'll enjoy Bon Voyage. For a while I thought about it, actually, I think it was the last EP to get for me, but then it really turned out to be lots of fun. I'm sure you'll turn out gorgeous vacation homes!  2cheer

Meanwhile, I'm loving this Eco Friendly Traditional home! I've never been good with making my sims greenhouses and yours is just stunning! I think it's the simplicity of this home that really makes it stand out. Beautiful!  2love

And now I'm off to bed...  1blankie  (<-really just an excuse to use that smiley, heh)

Yes, I am enjoying BV, even though the lag is terrible sometimes when I'm actually playing families because I like to use the biggest lots to design on, and have tons of NPCs about doing things (chefs, waiters, maids, concierge, shop assistants, baristas etc etc). I haven't managed to find/see any of the new NPCs though, like Bigfoot, which is a little annoying. I like the new roof types though. =]

I'm currently designing a set of three lands (one tropics, one mountain, one asian) with loads of different resorts on them, and I'm almost done with the first holiday lot that I'm going to show you!! *jumps around happily* I'm going to use these three lands to send the currently pending self-sim and fiance-sim to haha, since we can't afford to go on holiday in real life at the moment.

Thanks for the compliments about the Eco Home - I'm actually quite interested in ecology and eco-friendliness. ^_^ Have a good sleep! I'm loving the hat hehe.

If you don't fill up the whole lot, you can drop off the extra tiles with LotExpander/Adjuster by Mootilda from MTS.

I love the "modern" house and the ecofriendly one is nice too.

Oi, lag, 'tis the maniacal killer! That is unfortunately one of the more annoying drawbacks of having big maps. I'll usually leave medium to low graphic levels if I'm just playing. If I want to take pictures, then I'll up the settings to the max. Which then of course commences the alarming choking noises coming from the computer. Heh :P

Ooh!! I can't wait to see what you've been designing! You have so much patience for it, I'll usually start all hyped up about it, and then several hours later I'm just putting whatever is practical. Lol.  So I really admire those who build, and you build so well!

Yes! I would honestly love to live in an eco-friendly house. All that fresh air!
And right?! Now I want one of those hats to sleep in, hee. Thank you though! I'm about to knock out again now  3yay

A giant windmill? A GIANT windmill??? Where do you find such wonderful toys :D?
Don't answer that my sims are already choking on custom content.
Very cool though, one question, how do you still have the ability to build a holiday lot after the holidays?  If i so much as hear one more jingling bell I may go postal.  Glad someone still has the christmas spirit even after their over.  You don't really have to answer that last question either lol I'm just poking fun  ;D

Title: Re: Lady Rose's Sim House Portfolio

Haha! The giant windmill is actually not a deco object, its one of the ones that has to go outside of lots >_< They just seem to show up really detailed from the right angles on my lots haha, no idea why, they didn't used to! Mm well when I say 'holiday' I mean like a vacation, just somewhere to go when you need a break from work or want to sight-see, they aren't xmas themed or anything - although mine are going to be themed, just not themed by time of year hehe. Holidays are great ^_^ particularly spring/summer ones. My simmies are going to be off on hols a lot I think, when they aren't taking care of their own businesses (big fan of OFB here =P).

Almost done with a fairytale style lot, which I will be showing pictures of soon.

17/01/11 15.45: Yay! I've finished the FairyTale lot!

Welcome to the Sims-Style Disneyland (not that I've been to Disneyland, but I imagine is pretty fantastical)! Here's the advertising blurb for this holiday destination:

"Where Dreams Come True...TM

Disclaimer: Hyperactive children are parents own responsibility."

Well I'm back again with another holiday lot, this time Western Themed!

Sorry I've been gone so long, life just got busier for a while.

Advertising blurb:

"Yeehaw! Time for a giddyup round to the 'Best of the West (2011)' Award winning holiday destination! The Wild and Western Hotel invites you to mosey into town, take a stop at our watering hole and stay a while."

Forgive the cheesy-ness of it hehe my sims like 'theme-parks'!

Incidentally, if anyone knows where I can get a good motel sign, that would finish up my other lot I'm working on! But no worries if you have no clue, I'm still searching around myself. Hope you're all well and looking forward to Valentines Day!

Thats awesome, love the stagecoach and the advertising blurb, very silly!  Try parsimonious site for trader signs, just picked them up myself 2 days ago, really nice stuff, worth a look around.  The signs are hanging and look 'ole timey'.  With different pic's for different shop types, 6 in total if I remember correctly.  Hope it helps.   ;D

Okay, been gone ages, again.

I apologise to those who actually check back here >_< I've just got started in a new job, so life is really, really hectic. And I've moved out, and I don't have internet, yet. *sighs* So, I'm going to *try* to update on the weekend, because I've built quite a lot!

And HappyThoughts thank you for the tip about parsimonious, although I already have a lot of their stuff, I haven't been on there in a while, and a few things sparked my interest.

I'll update this post with the new stuff on Saturday. Hopefully. ^_^
