Title: Married With Children --the Bundy Family Post by: summersong86 on August 28, 2007, 02:38:09 pm Well it's taken me a full year to get this where I wanted it to be...ta da...my Married With Children Bundy Family set!
Now you all need to know that this set was rejected at MTS2 because they insist Al Bundy is packaged with Rosesims hair recolors. That has GOT to be some kind of glitch with their automated upload system--one that I have encountered before with Clean Installer--because I made Al myself, and that includes his freaking hair, using Maxis base game content only and his hair is just a small alpha edit and slight recolor of the Maxis shade. If for some reason there actually is a Rose hair in all that mess, please let me know how to get it out of there! I am running on a new Windows Vista PC and do NOT have Clean Installer, which from my understanding does not even load on a Vista PC anymore. They also say I need to strip out a mesh. I have a Chriko clothing mesh that IS redistributable and has the proper Readme file associated with it. And then one other rule I violated was my reference photos --they've changed the rules on how to present celebs--must be side by side comparison photos so they can compare facial sculpts. My set is a caricature of the real people. If they're going to be scrutinized to that level of detail, I'm gonna get a migraine. I'm not striving to copy real people into my game cheekbone for cheekbone--I just want to capture their spirit. If you want something more, you can do whatever you want to my sims to improve them to your standards and reupload as you wish. I'm not fussy in that respect. Set is packaged as follows: Al Bundy is an adult and packaged exactly as shown in the photos. His hair uses a recolor (by me) of a Maxis base game style. Peggy is an adult and packaged with the custom outfit as shown, the required mesh (and Read me file) and Maxis hair. The outrageous Peg hair is a custom recolor NOT included in the same package as the sim, so please Download the hair package separately below, and get the mesh at XM Sims site as specified in the link provided in the credits. Kelly is packaged as a teen, and will hold her resemblance into adulthood (took me months to make THAT happen!). Her clothes are Maxis as pictured, hair is a Maxis style. She is shown with Raojena style hair described more fully under "Credits". Bud is packaged as a child with Maxis content, and holds his resemblance to David Faustino better as he ages, the best being teen, adult age being respectable and matches his adult mugshot better than I was expecting. The child is not precise as I would like and is more of a cartoony version than photo realistic, but this is the price I pay to make him a decent enough facsimile through 3 age groups. I depict the kids' age progression for your benefit but again, the sims are packaged as youngsters to fit into the family package, depicting the early years of the series. It's easy--as I get ready to package each sim for upload I go through BodyShop and note the content I used on an e-mail to myself, cutting and pasting links to the sources as I go. (Sometimes I do this even for rough drafts and intermediate prototypes) I got used to doing this after totally losing an upload post at MTS2 about a year ago. Now, if my internet connection times out, at least I still have all the text and links ready to go--just cut and paste when the connection is restored. I hope this idea helps people who have difficulty doing credit lists as they are trying to post their uploads. Using Notepad works, too, but I prefer e-mailing myself as it's slightly quicker.
I could understand if anyone isn't satisfied with Bud. In a whole year I haven't gotten him truly to where you could identify him as David Faustino if you see the sim out of context. As I said in my post, I have no objection whatsoever if anyone wants to tinker with ANY of my work and improve on it. Or do the same characters yourself from scratch. It is impossible to step on my toes. I upload stuff to collaborate and cooperate, not compete. So I guess it is good for people to have the option of being able to choose between my Barbie-type sims or whatever it is that makes the other Bundys restricted access...anatomically correct skins, I presume?
I use only Barbie or whatever versions of "safe" content is available here or at MTS2, because I play with the censor blur on so I don't go out of my way to visit adult content sites, so I'm not sure what's available there. I made it over a year ago and I can't remember what Stuffs Packs and EP's I had when I made it. I never uploaded a building before so I am not sure what is involved in packaging and credits. I took a look before over on MTS2 and they had some really strict rules about roofs and I used auto roof tool so I gave up on the idea of ever uploading the house.
The first floor is as close to the show's set as I could make it. Second floor is all just out of my imagination. I did not make Al's basement, instead using the door to the basement to lead to a first floor bathroom.
