Introduction

She awoke with a start, jerking up from where lay on the soft, dewy grass. Images of her nightmare flashed through her mind for only a second before they vanished.  Her heart still racing, she looked around.  There was mostly just grass, with one tree a little way away from where she lay.  The sun's first rays were poking above the horizon.

She stood up, holding her head as she did so; it hurt immensely.  Swaying slightly, she looked around again. A little while away, she saw houses, buildings.  Seeing them rose a question to her mind: Where was she?  She recognized nothing.  She remembered nothing from before she woke up.  Maybe she wasn't anything before she woke up?  Perhaps, she thought, someone over near the houses will tell me where I am.

No pictures for this- my computer went all wonky and I haven't a clue where they are!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter One

She stepped into the town about two hours after leaving the place where she woke.  A few early-risers were walking amongst the shops that were just opening.

Walking up to a man with blonde hair and a long nose, she took his took his hand and shook it.  "Hi.  Do you know where I am?" she asked immediately.

"Um..." the man stammered, surprised by the sudden question.  "You're in Redleaf Valley," he manged to answer.

"Really?  I've never heard of it," she thought aloud.  Turning on her heel, she left the man confused in her wake.

She wandered until finally stepping into a store that carried furniture.  Many comfortable-looking chairs were sitting by the door she came in through.  She sat down in one, not entirely sure what to do now that she knew where she was.

"Excuse me, Miss," an old man with thick-rimmed glasses  addressed her.  "Can I help you?"

"No I don't think so."

"Well, you'll have to buy something or leave.  This is not some young peoples' lounge!"

"Oh... Buy?"

"Yes," he responded exasperatedly.  He held a simoleon in front of her face.  "With these."  She smiled.

"I think I have those!"  Out of her pocket she withdrew several bills.  The shopkeepers eyes widened.  He snatched the money from her and started counting.  When he raised his head, his gray eyes were still wide with disbelief.

"You have 3,600 simoleons here.  Now what would a young lady like you be doing with so much money in her pocket?"

She furrowed her brow.  She had to try to remember something again.  "I'm not sure..."  Twisting her hair she continued, "And I don't even know what they are.  Are they simoleons or money?"  Frowning, she continued to twist her hair nervously.

The man stared at her in disbelief.  Since she continued to frown he answered, "Both."  He then explained the connection of money (or simoleons) and buying.

Understanding more clearly now, she rocked back and forth excitedly.  "I wanna buy something!" she exclaimed.  "It'll be fun!"

...

She purchased two chairs, a table, a bed, and three counters, all of which would be delivered to the field where she woke up.  At the register when the man was ringing her up, he commented, "I hadn't noticed until now, but, my!  What peculiar eyes you have!"

"Really?"  She cocked her head to one side.  "How so?"

"A very odd color..."

"Oh!  What color are they?"

He stared at her, dumbfounded.  "You're not familiar with your own eye color?"

"Hm...I don't think so."  He eyed her suspiciously before handing her a mirror.

"They're purple," he said as she admired herself.  "Actually...  Have we met before?"  He squinted at her.

"Not that I know of."

"Well you seem awfully familiar is all," he murmured as she turned to leave his store.

Stepping outside, she blinked at the now high sun.  Many more people were bustling about the town than before.  She was so in awe of the whole scene, she didn't notice a man running down the sidewalk until she bumped into him.  He stumbled back a bit, while she dropped to the ground.

"Geez, I'm sorry.  Here," he said reaching out his hand to her.  She took it.  "Wow," he breathed as she rose to face him.  "You have beautiful eyes."  She blushed.

"You think so?"

"Yeah," he murmured as if in a trance for a moment.  He cleared his throat and stretched out his hand.  "I'm Henry."  They shook hands.

'Hi," she simply replied.  He laughed.

"And your name is...?"  She frowned.

"I don't think I've ever been asked that before.  I'm not sure I have a name."

"You have to be pulling my leg," he laughed.  She lifted up her hands, looking even more confused.

"I'm not even touching your leg!"  She sighed.  "I suppose I could give myself a name."  She looked around.  She saw a sign reading, "Kat's Flowers."  A white flower was painted next to the words.

"My name is... Kat White."

Chapter 2

Kat looked about her new home.  It wasn't anything like the buildings in town, but it was home; it was hers.  She pulled out what was left of her money.  There wasn't a lot left, but it would get her by.

Henry had been very nice to her the day before.  He walked her home and explained some basic things to her.  Kat still didn't really understand taxes.  Why did she have to give away her money if it was hers?  Whether she understood it or not, she would pay them because Henry told her to.

He had also told her to find a "job."  That way she could earn money.  Apparently, she could find one in the newspaper.

Just as Kat was scanning the paper, it started to drizzle.  Tiny drops of rain fell onto her and the newspaper.  Soon the rain fell faster and harder.  The words on the paper ran; the ink stained her fingers.

Kat looked up at the sky.  The rain was sinking into her clothes, making her cold.

Suddenly, there was a flash and a bolt of lightning struck the ground near her.  A loud crack of thunder followed.  Kat screamed and ran.

In her panic, she slipped and fell face flat in the mud.

She sat up, tears welling in her eyes.  Where was Henry now?  There was another flash.

A bolt of lightning shot at her tree, missing it by inches.  Kat whimpered and started crying.  She wanted the storm to stop.  She wanted Henry to be there to help her.  He was so wise and calm.  Then she started to cry at her altogether pathetic-ness.

Kat cringed when more thunder boomed over her head.  Careful not to slip again, she shuffled to her bed, under the ledge of roof.  There she put her head in her hands and cried.

...

The next morning Kat showered and cleaned her clothes.  It had rained all through the night and stopped just before dawn.

The day was going well, Kat had found a high-paying job as a security guard.  All she had to do was watch monitors and make sure nothing bad happened.  She was going to start tomorrow.

Kat had also been brushing up on her cooking skills.

After an altogether good, yet somewhat monotonous day, Kat hovered around her phone, a slip of paper in her hand.  She picked up the phone and dialed the number on the paper: Henry's number.

"Hello?" answered Henry's sweet voice.

"Hi Henry.  It's Kat."

"Hey!  I was worried about you!"

She clutched the phone.  "You were?"

"Yeah.  The storm last night was pretty intense."

"Yes...It definitely was."  Kat told him her experience with the storm, tactfully leaving out the part where she cried her eyes out.

Henry gave a small laugh.  "Wait until it hails.  Now that's bad!"

For the next hour they chatted, talking about whatever came to mind.  Kat asked questions, and Henry answered them all.

"Thanks, Henry," Kat breathed.

"For what?"

"Just for talking.  Good night."

"Night, Kat."

I agree - very cool spin.  I've never read a legacy as an actual story like this before.  I think it's quite refreshing and I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far.  Nice work, very creative!

Hey thanks, guys! :D
You have no idea how much I appreciate the comments!!  Whenever I try to do just a normal legacy, I tend to get bored and want to write everything in so much more detail!  So this is fun for me.  (Hopefully I'll continue)

Chapter 3

Work was simple enough; it was almost fun.  Kat caught a robber, and for that she was awarded 500 simoleons.  But that was all simple.  And for some reason picking up a phone and dialing was much harder.

Kat's heart beast frantically as she reached for the phone.  She liked Henry.  She wanted to call him, hear his voice.  She really wanted to call him.  So why was it so hard?

Just as she heard the first ring, Kat hung up.  That was the fourth time!  She could not keep doing this.  Taking a deep breath, she tried again.

Henry answered on the third ring.  "Hello?"

"It's me, Kat."

"Hey.  Was that you calling me all those times?"

"Um..."  Busted!  "My phone was acting strange.  It couldn't get a connection or something," she fibbed.  She bit her lip.  Would he buy it?

"Oh," he said, without a hint of suspicion.  "Well, in that case, what can I do for you?"

"I was wondering if you would like to come by here before I left for work?"  The words escaped from Kat's mouth before she could think about them.

"Sure, it'll be a pleasure to see you.  I'll head right over."

"Okay," she nearly whispered.  She felt like she might faint.

Hanging up the phone, she looked around her little home. Counters and the sink and dishes all needed to be cleaned.  Frantically, she dumped the dirty dishes in the sink and tried to scrub the counter simultaneously.

Just as she was draining the bubbles from the sink and considering taking a shower, Kat heard a voice behind her.

"Hey, Kat."

She spun around, holding her breath.  There was Henry.

He gave her a warm smile, his green eyes sparkling and his golden hair catching the sunlight.  Kat remembered how he had called her own eyes- her purple eyes- beautiful.  Yet, they seemed to pale in comparison to his.

Realizing that she was staring, Kat turned away and blushed.  "Hey," she finally replied.

"You look great," Henry complimented.  Kat blushed even more.  "And you're doing great. You said you got a job?"

"I'm only a security guard at some...um..."  She paused.  What was the word they had used?  "Corporation."

"That's certainly nothing to sneeze at."  Kat giggled at the expression.  She was starting to understand what was literal and what was not.

"I guess not."  She shrugged.  "Well, what do you do, Mr. Hotshot?"

He shifted from foot to foot and said breezily, "I'm between jobs at the moment."  Kat nodded and turned away.

“Still, I bet you have a nice house to live in,” Kat murmured wistfully.  Henry walked over to her bed and picked up a pillow.

“I don’t care what you say, this is still best done outside.”

She furrowed her brow.  “What-“  Before she could finish, Henry whacked her with the pillow.  She started laughing.  “No fair!  I’m unarmed!” she screamed, running to her bed to fetch the other pillow.

Henry came up to her.  “Are you ready yet?” he questioned.

“No.”  As soon as she said it, she smacked him with her pillow.  “Now I am!” she announced gleefully.  Their pillow fight commenced in a flurry of feathers and laughter.

Afterwards, the two collapsed on the ground.

“I haven’t had a pillow fight in years,” Kat commented, breathing heavily.

“Me neither… Wait!”  Henry shot up from where he lay.  “How do you know that?”

“Know what?”

“How do you know that you haven’t had a pillow fight in years?”  Kat scrunched up her nose.

“I don’t know…  I just do.”  She looked over at him.  “Is that weird?”

Henry settled back down.  “Well, yes and no.  Mostly no, I guess.”  They lay in silence for awhile.

Suddenly, Henry shot up again.  “I didn’t notice you got a stereo!”  He looked down at her, smiling crazily.  “I know a joke about a stereo.”  Kat smiled, glad they were on another topic.

“Sure, let me hear it.”  It continued with them telling each other  corny jokes and playing games.  When it started to get dark, Henry suddenly said, “Let’s dance.”

“Oh no!”  Kat planted her feet in the ground.  “I am a terrible dancer!”

“How do you know?” he asked again.

“I’ve tried!”

“You haven’t tried with me,” he pointed out, a mischievous smile growing across his lips.

“I don’t think it’ll make a difference, but fine,” she complied.  He switched on the stereo and pulled her toward him.

Kat awkwardly tried to dance with Henry to a song she vaguely recognized.  She stumbled a few time, achingly aware of how close he was.

“Hey you’re not so bad,” he claimed.

Kat snorted in disbelief, but left it at that.

Looking away from her feet for a moment, Kat saw her carpool to work drive up.  “Oh,” she said, stepping away from Henry.  “My carpool is here.”  She almost felt relieved.  “Good-bye.”

As she started to walk away, Henry stepped in front of her.  He had a slight smile on his face as he murmured in her, “There’s something I’ve been wanting to do.”  She opened her mouth to ask what, but he pulled her to him and kissed her.

“Have fun at work.  I expect to hear all about it,” he whispered as he pulled away.

Kat stared after him as he walked away, too stunned to do anything but put a hand to her lips.

Chapter 4

Kat stepped out of the car.  She had been promoted last night- the night Henry kissed her- and had started her next job promptly the next morning.  She was exhausted and lonely, and still she was trimming the tree even though she should have probably been sleeping.

While clipping branches, Kat considered her night with Henry.  No matter how many times she played it over in her head, she still didn't expect the kiss at the end.  She paused in her trimming and closed her eyes, imagining the kiss again.  It was a fabulous kiss.

Oh, like you would know! Kat scolded herself.  You've never had a kiss!  But she did know.  She knew that whatever sort of life she had before, she had never had a kiss quite like that one.  Then she wondered when she would see him again.  Would he continue with the romantic approach or pretend as if it never happened?  Kat wasn't sure what she wanted.  Maybe if she saw Henry again, she could decide...

"Hey."  Kat jumped and whirled around, completely forgetting about the tree.  Henry was walking toward her, green eyes sparkling.

Kat suddenly felt all the anxieties she had only a second ago lift themselves from her shoulders.  Forgetting herself for a moment, she ran into Henry and jumped into his arms.

"Henry!" she shouted, then she backed away from him, her face hot and red.

"That was a warm welcome," he chuckled, revealing his white teeth in a broad smile.

Kat turned her face away, feeling the blood pulse through her cheeks.  "W-what are you d-doing here?" she stammered, tugging at her hair.

"I thought I'd stop by before you went to work.  I wanted to see you," he replied.

Her eyes widened.  "Y-you did?  Um, well actually, I got a promotion.  I just got back from work, so... I have the whole night."  Henry raised his eyebrows, and Kat felt her face heat up again, realizing how that sounded.

"Well good.  We have plenty of time to spend together."  He pulled her closer to him and said, "Let's dance.  You were really good yesterday."

When it got dark, the two were still dancing.  Kat stumbled and fell into Henry.  He grabbed her and righted her before she could fall.  "Henry, I can't keep dancing.  My feet will fall off!" she confessed.  He chuckled, and she gazed at him admiringly.  In her eyes, he just seemed to glow.

"Well," Henry began, stepping closer to her, "We can do something else."  With that he held Kat close and kissed her again.  This time, she kissed him back.  She knew now that she wanted to be more than friends.

Kat rested her head against Henry's shoulder.  Sleepily, she murmured three words she didn't even know she knew: "I love you."  She turned her face up to his, but before he could reply, her eyes shut and she fell asleep.

...

Kat yawned and pulled herself up from her bed.  She looked about the peaceful morning scene.  The sun was just rising, casting rays of light over the glittering dewy grass.  The sky was a pale robin's egg blue and...

Suddenly, everything that happened the night before came back in a flood of memories.  She gripped her head.  No!  No, she had not told him that she loved him.  She had not cluelessly told him that.

Kat looked down at herself, she was still in the same clothes as yesterday.  Henry must have put her in bed when she fell asleep.  Her face heated up at the thought.  She had fallen asleep! How embarrassing.

Throughout the day, Kat tried her best to keep herself occupied with cleaning since she had the day off from work.  Despite her attempts, her mind kept wandering back to her stupidity the night before.

"Ugh!" she finally yelled.  "I am going to drive myself crazy doing this!  Look, I'm already talking to myself!"  She took a deep breath and attempted to relax.  "This is what I'm going to do: I'm going to pretend I never said anything.  I am going to clean up and invite him over tonight and see how things go.  Then I will stop talking to myself!'

That night, Kat paced as she waited for Henry to arrive.  She had planned out how the whole night would go.  They would be friends again.  Just friends.  Kat swallowed.  Even if that meant hurting herself just a little bit.

"Hey."  Kat turned slowly, trying not to seem excited.  Henry had his hands in his pockets and was looking up at her through his eyelashes with a sheepish smile on his face.  He looked absolutely adorable.

"H-hey," she replied quietly.  Everything that she had scripted out in her head had vanished.

"So...I've been thinking..." Henry started before she could think of something witty to say.

Here we go, Kat thought.  He's going to tell me he doesn't feel the same and we can't be friends anymore.

Henry took a few steps toward her, until he was an inch away from her.  "I...I never answered you," he murmured.

Huh?

He wrapped his arms around Kat and kissed her.  "I love you, Kat."

Kat stared at him breathlessly for a moment.  Then she said another thing she hadn't expected.

"Henry, will you marry me?"

He stared at her incredulously for a moment, then his expression softened.

"Of course I will."  Henry then swooped Kat into a kiss.

Whoo! She moves fast! :D

They're a great couple and there's just something really cute about the whole, innocent, fish-out-of-water scenario.

So will she get her memories back? Or at least a real house? :)

Chapter 5

Leaning back on her sofa (She had one now!), Kat closed her eyes and relaxed for the first time in weeks.  She opened her eyes again and took a sweeping glance of the whole room.  Yes, room!  There were walls now!  And paint and beautiful furniture, and it was all just perfect!  Never again would she be forced to stand, shivering, out in the rain as lightning streaked the sky above her.  No more!  She was the owner of a lovely house.

Admittedly, Henry paid for most of it.  He had much more money than he let on!  There was a good amount left over too.  Still, Kat would continue to work.  She was being promoted quickly.  Henry found a job in the medical career path.  Kat wasn't even sure what he was now; he was being promoted even faster than she!  Who knew he had so many skills?

That was another thing Kat worried about.  What if she didn't know Henry well enough to get married?  Were they going too fast?  Whenever she looked at him though, she knew she loved him.  Wasn't that what mattered?

For awhile her thoughts spun in angry and confused circles, anxiety gripping at her.  Finally, her thoughts and questions faded and her eyes shut.  What seemed like a few seconds later, in her half-consciousness, she was vaguely aware of Henry's arms wrapped firmly around her as he carried her to their bedroom...

Yes, bedroom!
...

Kat looked at herself in the mirror.   She hadn't a single clue what to do with her hair. Yesterday, she had bought a book that had a bunch of fancy up-do's, but Kat only managed to tie her hair in knots.  Brushing out her hair again, she decided to leave it as it usually was.  Makeup was out of the question.  The last time she tried, she nearly poked her eye out with the mascara.  Well, at least the dress was gorgeous.

It wasn't white, but the light mint green looked better on her anyway.  The dress was snug at the top, giving her a little but of curves, and then it fanned out at the bottom.  She felt like a mermaid.

Giving a little wistful sigh, Kat peaked out the window at the awaiting arch.  Little butterflies flapped around in her stomach at the thought of what would come.
...

Henry pushed open the bedroom door a little.  He looked in to see Kat not yet in her dress, but still in her underwear.  Pulling away, he blushed in spite of himself. He hadn't yet... been with Kat like that.

He took another glance into the room.  Kat was now tossing different cosmetics across the room.  Good thing, considering the mascara fiasco.  Shutting the door quietly, he went into the bathroom to inspect his tux.

The wedding was going to be a quiet, private affair.  Although Kat would never admit it, Henry had noticed Kat was nervous around large crowds of people.  Lately, she also tended to be afraid of being alone at night.  He had questioned her about it before, but she insisted she didn't know what he was talking about.  Henry still couldn't work night-shifts, although it didn't matter to him.  He hadn't a clue what happened to Kat before she woke up, so whatever her comfort level was, he would cater to it.

Henry glanced at his watch.  The wedding was going to start soon.
...

The sun was just setting as Kat floated across the lawn in her gown.  Henry was already waiting for her under the arch, which had beautiful pink roses twisting around the top.

Rays of sunlight shined right on Henry's back, making him glow with a warm, yellow light.  Wind fluffed his hair and his green eyes shone beneath his long, light lashes.

Kat's heart skipped as she looked upon the perfect scene.  Picking up her pace, she made her way to him.

"Hey," she murmured when she finally was under the arch.

"Hey," he said softly back.  "I love you."

Kat suddenly felt tears popping from her eyes.  They trailed lightly down her face as she said, "I love you too."  The tears continued to fall through vows...

...the ring exchange...

...and the final, tearful kiss that ended the wedding and started the marriage.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys!  I've been taking more pictures lately while I've been playing, so hopefully the picture drought will end soon, lol.  This one, has very few pics though.  The next chapter should have more. Promise!

Chapter 6

Kat stretched as she slid out of bed.  Throwing a glance at Henry, who was still asleep, she instantly thought fondly, That's my husband.  He had been her husband for a while, but she couldn't help but think it whenever she woke.

Suddenly, a wave of nausea washed over her.  A phrase flashed in her mind: morning sickness.  But what was that?  It was right on the edge of her memory... Hm.  No, she could not recall.  It probably wasn't important anyway.

Heading to the kitchen (kitchen!), she filled a bowl with cereal and topped it off with milk.  As the milk poured, another wave of nausea took her, but she managed to shake it off enough to eat.  After she dressed, though, it was back in full force.  She ran to the toilet, just barely making it in time before she lost her breakfast.

"Ech."  Kat turned her head away from the toilet and flushed.  She knew she would have to clean that up before Henry woke; it was the only toilet in the house.

"You okay?"  She turned and Henry was standing in the doorway, looking concerned.

"I think I'm sick," Kat said, clutching her stomach.  Her mind flashed back to those two words.  Morning sickness.  Was it a virus of some sort?

"Maybe you should lie down then.  I'll clean up the mess and bring you some food," Henry offered kindly.

Kat nodded, even though the thought of food made her stomach churn even more.

"I have to go to work after that, though.  I could call in sick if you need me around?"

"No," Kat said, standing up slowly, "you should go.  I'll be fine."  She forced herself to hold her stomach to prove her point.  Henry nodded, still looking unsure, and led her to bed.

Throughout the rest of the day, Kat managed not to throw up.  She did feel queasy every now and again, but she didn't really feel ill.  What an odd virus morning sickness was.
...

Those two words were nagging her, chasing her in every corner of her mind.  Morning sickness, morning sickness.  There was something she needed to know about it, but what?

Then one morning, looking down at a surprisingly swollen stomach, she realized she wasn't sick.  She was pregnant.

"Henry!"  Kat called.  He was in the kitchen flipping pancakes for the both of them.

"What's up?" he asked, flicking his gaze to her and then back to the breakfast.

"I'm not sick, I don't think," she said softly, almost apologetically.

"That's great!" he exclaimed.  Then, he caught her gaze and he looked uncertain.  "Right?"

"Well... I'm not sick, but I am pregnant."  She waited, careful to keep her face blank in case she didn't receive the reaction she wanted.

"Wait."  He removed the pan from the burner.  "This coming from the woman who didn't know what simoleons were just a little while ago?  How can you be sure?"

"That's different," she said, waving her hand dismissively.  "Some things I just know."

Henry's face broke into a wide grin.  "Well, I guess it doesn't matter how you know.  This is fantastic news!"  He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her.  "You have no idea how happy I am."

Kat leaned into him.  "Me too."  And she was.  She was happy.
...

Once the morning sickness left her, pregnancy was pretty easy for Kat.  Sure, she was tired and often hungry for the strangest things (onions and jell-o anyone?), but she could still function.  Henry started doing more housework  when he was home, offering to do dishes and cook meals.  He even suggested Kat take a leave from work.  Tempting as it was, Kat couldn't bring herself to do it.  With a little one on the way, money was a necessity.  The house needed to grow to fit another family member.  And with a new car, getting to work was easier.

After work, Kat managed to shove some of Henry's turkey down her throat before collapsing onto the bed.  Her feet felt like they were about to fall off.  No, she wished they would fall off.  Maybe then she wouldn't feel them anymore.

So, admittedly, working while pregnant wasn't quite a cup of tea.  It was hard to stand, and in her profession, sitting wasn't an option half the time.  Henry was being so helpful, cleaning and making meals.  Kat was sure he would make a great father.
...

It was late and dark.  The streetlights were lit, but they hardly made a dent in the suffocating darkness.  Kat's eyes skipped over the buildings and stores that were closed and to a pair of men standing side by side against a building.  Their faces were shadowed, but they seemed to be watching her.  Only her...

"Get them away from me!"
Henry's eyes shot wide open.  "Stay away!" came another scream.  He turned abruptly to find Kat in the fetal position, rocking back and forth on the bed.  Her eyes were wide open, but staring, looking elsewhere.  She was sobbing, her breath coming in ragged gasps.

"Kat?  What's wrong?"  She didn't look at him, just kept rocking.  "Kat? Kat!"  No response.

Finally he put his hands on either sides of her face and turned her toward him.  "Kat, look at me!"  She froze and the crying stopped.

"Henry?"  She glanced around the room.  "Henry?" she said again, looking confused.

Henry pulled her closer to him and brushed her hair soothingly with his hand.  "You're fine, you're fine.  You had a nightmare."

After a few minutes of Henry soothing Kat, he asked, "What did you dream?"

"I...I don't remember," she whimpered.

"You were pretty hysterical."

"I don't remember," she repeated.

Ha!  See?  This chapter has tons of pictures! The drought has ended!  Hurrah!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 8

Kat woke up, panting and sweating.  Recognizing her own room, she felt relieved and exasperated all at once.  That was the fourth time she had that dream.  The fourth time she couldn't remember anything but darkness.  At least that time she didn't scream and wake poor Henry, who between his job, housework, and taking care of her day and night was always exhausted.  Kat felt like such a nuisance.

It was nearly morning, so she lifted herself out of bed and looked down at her massive stomach.  It just kept getting bigger!

Kat went to the kitchen to try to throw together a breakfast for her and Henry.  He made it seem so easy, but her tries went up in flames.  Literally.  She burned the omelettes she was trying to make and felt terribly useless.

"What are you doing, Kat?"  Henry asked in a disapproving and also amused tone.  She looked down at the smoky mess in the pan shamefully.

"Feeling useless," she mumbled.  Henry laughed.

"If I wanted you to do anything, I'd let you," he said, wrapping his arms around her.  "But you do everything all the time, so while you're pregnant you should kick back and relax.  Now, how about I cook you something edible?"  Kat giggled, dropping her fiasco in the sink.

"That would be lovely."  She smiled brightly and sat down at the table, awaiting her edible breakfast.

When Henry went to work, Kat stayed home from her job.  She was too tired to go to work or to clean up around the house even.  After she washed the dishes from the night before and from breakfast, she felt drained.  Perhaps Henry wasn't the only one exhausted from her ceaseless nightmares?  Either way, Kat settled herself for a nap.

She found herself standing in front of a sunny yellow house with bushes lining the gravel path to the door.  Home, Kat thought.  Just as she was enjoying the warm scene, a woman with purple eyes like her and blond hair done up neatly in a bun burst through the door.

"Mom!" Kat exclaimed in surprise.  She thought she would never see her again.  Then she noticed the tears streaking her mother's face.  She was frantic, running, crying, and screaming.

"Sabrina!  Sabrina!" she screeched, suddenly crumpling to the ground.  Her hands covered her face as she sobbed.

"Mom!" Kat exclaimed again.  "Mom!  I'm right here!  Mom!"  She wanted to run to her, comfort her, but she frozen.  Suddenly a man with brown hair and hazel eyes stepped out of the house.

"Daddy?" Kat whimpered, feeling herself come to tears now.  Her father hugged her mother and started to lead her inside the house, looking tormented himself.  "Daddy?  Wait!  Wait for me!"  She took a few steps forward, but the house faded and she was on that dark street again.  There were the two men, watching her.  Then, they started to walk toward her, and Kat felt a terrible pain in her abdominal.  She screamed.

Kat jerked awake, nearly falling out of bed.  She stood up, disoriented, and then felt a horrible cramp.  Contractions!  She was giving birth!

She crumpled, clutching her stomach, and let out a groan.  She was still confused from her nightmare.  What was she supposed to do now?  Where was Henry?
...

Just as he stepped out from his carpool, Henry heard Kat scream out his name.  Dashing inside, he jumped when he saw Kat bent over and clutching her stomach.

"Henry," she said, sounding strained, "I'm in labor!"  Henry caught his breath.

"Oh, that's good.  I thought you hurt yourself!"

"Well, I am in pain!" she screeched.  She gritted her teeth because of the pain.

As Henry tried to make his way over to her, Kat let out a shattering scream and...

...her baby boy was born.

Kat admired her baby.

How precious and perfect he was.  He had brown hair and purple eyes, just like her.  She loved him more than anything in the world, and yet she had only just met him.

...

The baby was named Felix.  Kat had named him that only moments after having given birth.  Henry was surprised, considering they hadn't really discussed names.

"I'm not sure where it came from," Kat admitted.  "I think I may have known someone by that name..."

Felix's crib was set up in their already cramped room until her could have his own room.

Kat hugged Henry and looked at their son.  She was wondering what who he would look like most when she suddenly remembered the name Sabrina...

Edit 2: Very nice!  I really enjoy the way you wrote, it's so involved.  I don't have the patience to do that with my legacy.  I'm really glad things are working out for her so well.  Though it does sound like she has some traumatic childhood memories, perhaps.

I look forward to more!

Felix put his tiny hands on the sides of the bottle as Kat fed him.

Once again she marveled at how beautiful he was. When Felix was done with his bottle and she set it down, Henry came up and waved to him.

"Hey little buddy," he cooed.  Then he made a variety of faces and funny voices.  Felix waved his arms and giggled.

"Well, thanks for that!  I was just about to put him down for a nap.  That won't be happening now that he's all riled up," Kat complained.  Henry straightened, embarrassed.

"Sorry," he apologized sheepishly.  "I didn't know."

"It's okay."  She held Felix up to her as she rocked him gently, trying to lull him into sleep.  He squirmed, trying to face his daddy.  It was no use; he wouldn't fall asleep for a while now.  She sighed and held him out to Henry.  "Here, he wants his daddy.  Play with him for awhile so he tires himself out again."  Henry accepted the baby into his arms, smiling at how Felix waved his arms and gurgled happily at seeing him.

"Once he's tired, take him to his room.  I want him to learn to fall asleep on his own.  He can't always fall asleep cradled in your arms.  Though I know you wish he could," Kat added, seeing the glow of fatherly warmth in his eyes.

Earlier they had managed to scrape up enough money to add another bedroom and bathroom to the home.  Felix's bedroom was too big for him now, but once he had toys and things, it would be a good size.

Kat heard a car pull up outside right as she sat down on the sofa.  She looked at Henry who was trying to slip out of the room with Felix.

"You don't have work today, do you?" she questioned.  Henry kept his eyes on the baby.

"No..."

"Then what is a car doing here of all places?"

Henry shrugged, a slight smile playing on his lips.  "I'm not sure.  Maybe you should go find out."  Pursing her lips and narrowing her eyes suspiciously, Kat put on her jacket and made her way outside.

She was astonished to find a police car parked by the mailbox.  She was even more surprised when she saw a friend from work step out of the car.

"Morning, Kat," the officer greeted her.

"Good morning, Michael.  To whom do I owe this visit?"

"Your husband," he answered, opening the back door of the car and reaching inside.  "He got you a gift, fresh off the shelter."

"The shelter?" she parroted in confusion.  Just then, he reappeared with a beautiful brown cat from the car.

"Oh!"  Kat cried in surprise.  "She's gorgeous!"  She ran to where Michael set the cat down.

"Her name is Heidi," he informed her.  "Take good care of her."  With that, he got into his car and drove off.

Heidi was pacing and surveying the area with her dark green eyes.  Kat bent and pet her on the head.  To her disbelief, Heidi warmed instantly.  Purring, she butted her head against Kat's hand.

Kat smiled at Heidi who was rubbing against her legs, her eyes none the less sharp and aware of her surroundings.  Picking her up, Kat took her inside.

Henry was waiting for her when she came inside the house carrying Heidi.  Heidi wriggled out of her grasp to go explore, which was fine by Kat, since she had another person she wanted in her arms.

She went over to Henry and gave him a long kiss on the lips.  "Have I told you how much I love you today?"

"Mm.  Tell me again," he said, kissing her back.  He pulled away and looked at Heidi who was clawing at a cat tower Kat had never seen.

"I put out some stuff I bought for her.  So, do you like her?"

"I love her.  She quite sharp, isn't she?  Beautiful fur, too.  Did you really find her in a shelter?"

"Yup.  All alone in her cage.  She looked really agitated."  He laughed.  "When they opened her cage, she leaped to the floor and took off running.  All the people who worked there were chasing her until she finally ran right up my leg and into my arms.  I have the scars to prove it."  He lifted his pant leg to reveal the angry, red scratches from Heidi's claws as she climbed up him.  "She's sweet, but mischievous.  No doubt about that," he concluded.  Heidi was then poking her head under the sofa, only to return with dusty whiskers.

"I think she's perfect."
...

Felix was about as perfect a baby could get.

He almost never cried or fussed, even when he had a dirty diaper.

Still, the house was a mess.  Plates and bottles littered the floor and tables, but Kat and Henry were too busy with work, Felix, and their own needs to even consider cleaning.

Even the cat stank!

After Kat had set Felix down for a nap, she entered the kitchen and vowed to try to clean the mess.  As she reached down for a plate sitting on the floor, a green, vacuum-like machine shot in and sucked up the plate.

Kat screamed, mostly out of surprise.

"What is it?!"  Henry ran into the room just as the machine was leaving.

"What on earth is that?" she demanded, pointing to the vacuum-thing.

"Oh," Henry said, obviously relaxing.  "I see you've met the CleanBot 3000."

"The what?"

"I just finished assembling it this morning.  It works well," he added lamely.  "It'll clean up all the mess around here, so we won't have to worry."

"Just tell me the next time you make some robot and let it loose in the house."
...

Kat was on that same dark street again, but this time she didn't feel scared.  No, she felt bubbly and light, a little giddy too.  Her vision was blurred, and she swayed slightly on her feet.  The two men were there too, in the same spot as always.  Her brain told her to run, but her legs didn't respond to the command.

One of the men nudged his friend and nodded in her direction.  They started to work toward her.  She backed up a little, her legs wobbling.  She tried to right herself.
Scream!  She had to scream, but her tongue felt heavy and thick in her mouth.  It was impossible to say a word.

The men were in front of her now, and one reached out and grabbed her wrist...

Kat jerked upright in her bed.  The sun was up and shining, and the last thoughts of her nightmare fizzled away.  It was Felix's birthday.

Excited, she jumped out of bed and dressed.  Henry would go to work, and then when he came home at six, they would bring Felix to his birthday cake.

Henry was already in Felix's room, still in his pajamas.

Kat smiled.  He was a fabulous father to Felix, always cuddling him or lifting him into the air, high over his head.  She wasn't sure who enjoyed it more: Felix or Henry.

"You can't go to work like that.  I think you should hand him over and go get dressed before you miss your carpool."  Kat reached for Felix, and Henry somewhat reluctantly gave him to her and went to change.  His carpool was driving up outside as he left the room.

At six, a little before Henry had come home, Kat reached into the crib to wake Felix.

"Are you ready to grow up?" she cooed, cuddling him.

She heard Henry close the door behind him as he entered the house.  "Yep.  Let's bring you to your cake!"

She and Henry walked into the kitchen simultaneously.  He stepped back to watch as she showed Felix the birthday cake.

Blowing out the candles for him, Felix watched as each candle flickered out.  He clapped his little hands together, not really comprehending what had just happened.

And...

...he grew to be an adorable toddler.

When I was first writing about Heidi, it got a little annoying cause it was like: "Kat picked up the cat" or "the cat rubbed Kat's legs" and it just bothered me soo much.  It was at that point I started to regret naming her Kat, lol.

Chapter 9

Kat watched as the CleanBot 3000 made its way to the old newspapers she hadn’t bothered to pick up.

That thing made things around the house so much easier!  Admittedly, she hadn’t really expected it to do much of anything, but she must have underestimated it and Henry.  So, despite a little reluctance, she decided it might be beneficial to at least try the newest thing her husband had bought.

It was called SmartMilk.  It was for toddlers to help their little minds grow by adding extra vitamins…or something like that.  Kat hadn’t really read the instruction manual, but with only a few buttons on it (one of which being “Make SmartMilk”), it seemed awfully straight forward.

She pressed the big “Make SmartMilk” button and watched as the machine spun and emitted a pretty blue-green glow.  Huh, she thought to herself, this is easy enough.

The machine stopped whirring, and it opened up its top, letting Kat reach in and grab a bottle. She looked at the bottle triumphantly.  Aha!  She had mastered the machine!

She promptly took the bottle to Felix who was happily playing with his favorite toy: a little toy robot Henry had bought him (What was with that man and machinery??).

Felix reached eagerly for the bottle, which reminded Kat of the days he was just a little newborn, clutching at the bottle’s sides with his tiny hands.  Picking up an old bottle that had been left there from a previous meal, she left to throw it out.  When she came back, she gasped.

“HENRY!!”

Henry was instantly in the doorway.

“What’s the matter?”

“What did you do to my son?!” she yelled, indicating Felix who was glowing the same blue-green the SmartMilk maker was only moments before.

Henry stared for a moment before, “Woah.”

“Yeah, woah is right!” she exclaimed, slightly hysterical.

“It’s okay, it’s okay,” he assured her.  “I’ll read the manual and figure out what’s going on.”

Henry went to the kitchen to retrieve the manual which was thrown carelessly into the drawer.  Kat followed, biting her lip to refrain from any more comments.  He flipped through a few pages before stopping to read.

“Aha!  ‘Side affects: glowing… Glowing is common and usually temporary.’”

“’Usually temporary’?  What does it mean by ‘usually’?”  Henry shot her a look and she quieted.

“’Glowing reappears with each usage of SmartMilk.’”

“Oh,” Kat said, relaxing a little.  “Then we’ll stop using it!”  Henry gave her another look.

“That’s ridiculous.  So he glows a little.  That hardly matters.  It’ll wear off after a little while, and if it helps him learn, isn’t that a small price to pay?” he reasoned.

Kat sighed, and looked reluctantly at the SmartMilk maker.  “I suppose you have a point…  I guess a little glowing doesn’t matter in the long run.”

Slowly, Kat got used to the strange glow Felix released after drinking the SmatMilk.  It did help him learn, after all.  Kat was still extremely proud when he first stood…

…and took his few steps.

The fact that he glowed hardly mattered.

Whether it was the SmartMilk or just Felix himself, he learned quickly.  Learning to speak was easy enough.

And even the dreaded potty training was overcome quickly, with a few speed bumps, of course.

It was dark, but Kat wasn’t on the same street that had become familiar to her.  She couldn’t see at all, but she felt like she was moving, like she was in a car.  Was she?

Voices were coming from somewhere in front of her, but they were muffled.  The two voices were having an argument, it sounded like.

After a few moments of dizzy confusion, Kat became aware that her hands were bound together with rope and her mouth was taped.  She struggled, but it was no use.  Her head pounded and her legs felt shaky.  Leaning against some boxes, she simply sat until she jerked forward; the car had come to a stop.

There were raised voices and banging.  Suddenly, the vehicle started and threw her against some crates.  Her head screamed with pain and she felt a warm liquid slithering down her cheek…  Then the arguing faded…

Then Kat saw her face.  No, it was a picture of her on a flyer.

Sabrina Snow

That was nearly a year ago…

Kat jerked awake to a loud thud.  She scrambled out of bed, strangely thinking of rope and duct tape.  As she entered the front room, she stood in stunned silence.  Henry was on the floor.

“Henry!” she said in a surprised whisper.  Then louder, “Henry!”  She rushed to him and lay her hands on his chest.  There was a rise and fall of his chest, each even and slow.  Then he let out a great snore.  He was asleep!

“Henry, wake up!” she said loudly, while she shook him a little.  He woke, and she took a few steps back.  Slowly, he lifted himself up off the ground, looking a little disgruntled.

He sat up and rubbed his eyes.  “What the…?” he murmured groggily.

“Um… You were sort of asleep on the floor,” Kat said.  Henry turned, seeing her for the first time.

“I was ‘sorta of” asleep?” he questioned.

Kat giggled, covering her grin with her hand.  “I found you cold on the ground, snoring,” she laughed.

Henry gave a little chuckle before groaning at the terrible headache he suddenly had.  “I think,” he said, wincing a little in pain, “I’m going to go to sleep.”  He rubbed his head.  “In my own bed,” he added.

Kat watched him stumble into their bedroom before putting on her coat.  It was about one in the morning, and there were blankets of snow on the ground.  There was no way she was going to fall asleep now that she was wide awake, either.

Stomping through the snow, she went all the way around to the back of the house.  There she put together a pile of snow, smoothing it out as she went.

She smiled as she piled the snow higher, admiring how it shimmered in the moonlight.  And yet…she felt a little empty.  As if she was missing something, missing some clue.  What the clue led to she wasn’t sure, but it had something to do with the dreams she’d been having.  The problem was: she couldn’t remember anything from those dreams.  She placed a third ball of snow on the other two, smiling hollowly at it.

She could only remember a few things from her dreams: darkness, the name Sabrina, and duct tape and rope.  How they were related, Kat wasn’t sure.  There were big pieces she was missing, she knew.  But if she kept waking up not remembering anything, she wouldn’t be able to discover anything.  Kat finished off the snowman, adding sticks, a broom, a scarf, a hat, a carrot, and a coal smile.  She frowned.   It looked like every other snowman in the world.

Kat shook her thoughts away from her.  Dreams or no dreams, she was going to enjoy the silent beauty of the night.   She collapsed in the snow and started to make a snow angel, vaguely wondering if there was anyone else in the world out in the snow at that moment.

I'll be straight and just admit it.  I have writer's block.  To be honest, I'm waiting until the next heir is all grown and some new stuff can happen.  So, while this chapter has like a million (28 ) pictures, the story is... eh.  It really has nothing to wrap it up in the end and like I said before... eh.  Of course these are my standards and I have no idea what you guys will think.  I really hope you like it, though.  Then I can maybe ease up on myself.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 10

Kat got out of bed reluctantly.  No dreams.  None at all.  Of course, when she wanted a nightmare, she didn’t have one!  She had been hoping for one for the last couple of days, but she didn’t dream at all except for one dream that involved Henry and waffles.  That was hardly what she was looking for, though.

After breakfast, Henry left for work and Kat cleaned up the dishes.  Suddenly, she heard a whirring and buzzing noise coming from the front room.  She approached slowly, and opened the door.  Inside the CleanBot was going berserk!

Sparks and smoke spewed from it as it spit out trash.  Kat quickly grabbed its remote and pressed the power button.  It continued to sputter out trash.  She jabbed the button with her finger and when that didn’t work, started hitting it with her fist.  The CleanBot continued to wreak havoc.

Heidi was staring at it in alarm, meowing and hissing.

Kat ran outside, hoping that Henry was still there.  He built it; he should know how to turn it off!

Henry was unfortunately leaving in his carpool, completely oblivious.

Kat slammed the remote with her fist again, and then she hit it against the end table.  The CleanBot halted and slowly made its way back to its little platform.  When it did, Kat looked around at the wreckage.  It was terrible!  She gripped her head and groaned.

How would she possibly be able to clean it all up?  Then, and idea struck her.  Maybe not the brightest of ideas, but an idea none the less.

Kat got a screwdriver and very carefully started to fix the CleanBot, praying she wouldn’t be electrocuted.

She tightened a few random things until the sparking stopped.  Very cautiously, she clicked the power button.  The CleanBot made a strained grinding sort of sound before rolling over to vacuum up the trash it had spit out.

Kat had a satisfied smile on her face as she brushed her hands together and stepped out of the room.  She vowed to remember to tell Henry to fix it properly as soon as he was home.

Felix was snuggled up in his crib, fast asleep.

Kat hovered around him, waiting for him to wake up and reach for her eagerly.  Alas, he was still sleeping peacefully.

She sighed.  Now that Felix had been taught how to talk, walk, and use his potty, she felt a little useless and bored.  Maybe if she went back to work and hired a nanny for Felix she would feel better.

“Yes,” she murmured aloud, picking up Heidi and cuddling her.  “I think I will hire a nanny.”

Then, feeling a little ridiculous, she said, “Heidi, do you think you can learn tricks?”

Henry came home from work and headed to his bedroom, expecting to collapse into bed next to Kat.  The lights were still on in the room, though, and as he opened the door he heard Kat’s voice.

“Heidi, come here!”  He looked in to find Kat pointing at the ground next to her, Heidi observing patiently.

Stifling his laughter, he watched.  How ridiculous!  A cat learning tricks?  Whoever heard of such a thing?

Then, Heidi seemed to actually nod and walk directly up to Kat.  Henry gaped in astonishment.

“Good girl, Heidi!” Kat praised, patting her on the head.

“Did you teach her that?” Henry asked as he fully stepped into the room.

She smiled proudly.  “Yup.  I’ve been teaching her all night.  She’s catching on very quickly!”

“You are some kind of woman,” Henry commented, pulling her into a passionate kiss.  On the sidelines, Heidi grew bored and curled up into her bed, officially ending the training session.

Henry led Kat onto the bed.

He kissed her again and she melted into his arms, feeling like she did when they first kissed.

The nanny came the next morning Kat had to leave for work.

When Kat had talked with her on the phone, she had seemed friendly enough and had high regards from her other employers.  Kat was perfectly comfortable leaving Felix with her while she and Henry went to work.  When she came home, she found Henry had other feelings.

Kat walked into the house, feeling slightly tired but mostly relieved from being out and about at work.  Henry was on the couch reading the paper.

“I thought you worked until six?”  Henry briefly glanced up from the paper before turning back to it again.

“I do,” he answered quickly.

“Then why are you here now?  At four?” Kat asked impatiently.

“Well,” he began, shrugging, “I figured I’d stay and give the nanny an evaluation of sorts.”

“And?”  She crossed her arms, annoyed.

“And she did fine,” he grumbled.

“Well where is she now?”

“I sent her home about an hour ago.”  Kat gripped the bridge of her nose.  “I just don’t really think we should leave Felix with a nanny all this time that we’re away.”  He watched Kat’s expression before continuing even further.  “I was actually thinking maybe I should quit my job and stay home full time,” he offered.

“What?!  We can’t afford for you to do that!  We need the money!”  She sighed and looked Henry straight in the eyes.  “Look, if it makes you feel better, I can use some of my vacation days to stay home until his birthday.  Then, he’ll be off at school all day and we won’t have to worry, okay?”

It was sunny and hot and Kat was enjoying a large ice cream cone with three scoops of strawberry ice cream piled precariously on top.  The sun was melting the ice cream quickly.  Thin, pink drips streaked the cone and her small hand.  As she twisted her tongue around the top scoop, it and the second scoop slipped and spattered on the ground all over her feet.  Tears started to sting her eyes and the third scoop dropped too.  Her new purple shoes were spotted with pink.

A few sobs started to escape from her throat when suddenly her cone was snatched from her, and a new one with only one scoop of ice cream was given to her.  A teenage boy bent over and wiped her shoes off with paper napkins.  He stood up straight and looked down at her.  His hair was brown with natural blonde highlights that shone in the sunlight. He had warm chocolate brown eyes to match.

“There you go, don’t cry,” he soothed.  “You wouldn’t have been able to eat all that ice cream anyway.”  He stretched his hand out for her to take.  “Let’s go home, S.”

Kat slowly awoke from her dream this time.  Sunlight poured in from the window onto her face, blinding her a little, but mostly warming her.  From her dream she remembered looking up at a friendly boy’s face…her brother’s face.

From that thought she shot up.  She had a brother!  Where was he now?  She had to find him!  Then she came to her senses.

Silly.  She didn’t even know his name.  How would she be able to find him if she had no information on him?

Kat pushed all thoughts of her brother aside.  Today was Felix’s birthday.  She was going to enjoy it for his sake.

After shoveling a bowl of cereal into her stomach, Kat jumped up to get ready for her carpool.  Suddenly her stomach lurched and she gagged.

She managed to swallow and steady herself.

Kat recognized that feeling exactly.  But, at hearing her carpool beeping impatiently outside, she knew she didn’t have time to analyze it more clearly.

Before Kat had a chance to mention her suspicions to Henry, Felix decided he wanted to grow up.  She didn’t even have time to carry him to his birthday cake to blow out the candles.

Kat admired his big purple eyes, so similar to hers, and his curly brown locks, so similar to… her brother’s.  The thought made her feel a little wistful, but she shook it off.  Now was not the time to ponder her past life.

“I wanna play this one!  We can all play,” Felix insisted, pointing to the Mishuno game.  It was basically Bingo, but a bit more complicated.

Henry and she smiled at each other.  “Well, sure, Kiddo,” Henry answered, picking up a Mishuno block for himself.

“I’m gonna call,” Felix announced eagerly.  Kat grabbed her own Mishuno block, trying to ignore the nausea waves churning in her stomach.

Aside from the nausea, Kat was enjoying herself, so was everyone else actually.  Kat was in the lead in Mishuno, and while Felix wasn’t really playing, he was enjoying Henry and Kat’s bickering.

“Hey!  You’re cheating!” Henry accused, looking pointedly at Kat’s block.  She stuck her tongue out at him.

“I am not!”

“Yes, you are!  Felix never called that square,” Henry said, pointing to a little symbol that looked like a fish.

“He did.  You just weren’t paying attention.  Besides,” she added, “I don’t need to cheat to beat you.”  Henry laughed and kissed her cheek.

All of a sudden, she couldn’t take it anymore.  Kat dropped her block and ran to the bathroom.  Henry watched in puzzlement as she went.

Dropping to her knees, she upchucked in the toilet.

She rose slightly, but before she could even flush, she threw up again.

She started to scrub the toilet as best as she could before Felix needed the bathroom and found the mess.

“Are you okay?” Henry asked, peeking in through the doorway.  Seeing the toilet he added, “Are you sick?”

Kat shook her head.  “No.  I’m not sick per se…  I’ll explain to you later, okay?”

Henry nodded before receding back into Felix’s room.  Kat followed shortly after, grateful when she saw Henry and Felix dancing to some song on the radio.

It was good he was keeping Felix occupied.

“Maybe I’ll call during this round of Mishuno, huh?”

“You’re terrible at this, Henry!” Kat exclaimed, laughing after he had lost again, that time to Felix.

“Pssh.  You both cheat,” he claimed, shrugging it off.  Felix was beaming as he watched the exchange.

“Mm-hm.  Well, I’m going to bed.  You two can continue your fun, but I’m beat.”  Kat gave a farewell kiss to both of her favorite people.  Then, she receded into her bedroom to sleep, while Henry made sure Felix enjoyed the rest of the night.
