1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / What's wrong with the sauna? on: October 09, 2007, 03:36:00 pm
The sauna was placed on a normal residential lot, it was facing the right way and there was one tile of free space in front of the door (later two, since I suspected that was the problem and tried making more space). Nothing helped, though. :/

Anyone else have problems with the sims using the sauna? It seems that the sim refuses to go in, and will just stand there on the spot untill the "go to sauna"-action disappears.
Am I doing something wrong or has this happened to anyone else?
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / The Sims 2 on Windows Vista (Updated 7 Feb 2007) on: August 01, 2007, 02:38:53 pm
Oh gawd, reading all this really makes me nervous. XD I'm getting my new computer tomorrow. HP Pavilion Slimline s3050 with Intel Core 2 Duo processor E4300 (1,80 GHz), 2048 MB of RAM, and nVidia GeForce 7300LE Turbocache graphic card.
And of course, Windows Vista. Can anyone predict from the facts above... am I in for trouble? ^^;;

This whole Vista thing is seriously pissing me off, since I'm buying this computer mainly for Sims 2, and if I can't get it to run well, it will be a waste of money (waste of very much money)...
I'm considering I'll just install Windows XP if Vista turns out not worth it.
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I'm buying a computer. Help! on: July 29, 2007, 12:58:09 pm
Thanks again everyone :worship:
It does seem that the nVidia card would be a better investment. So, I think I'll go for the second combination even though it's more expensive. At this point I'm willing to pay a fortune for smooth gameplay. XD
I'll go buy the computer next thursday. *nervous*
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I'm buying a computer. Help! on: July 29, 2007, 07:38:18 am
Thank you all for the comments.
I also think that there could be more memory, but since the computer comes with that exact combination, it would get really expensive to change it. ._. Right now I'll be paying about 800 dollars for that.
My other option was this combo:
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor E4300 (1,80 GHz),
- 2048 MB RAM,
- NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE Turbocache graphic card.

Would that be better? It'll be a little more expensive, but I could still afford it I think.

I need to stick with these pre-made combinations, since I totally lack the skills to put anything together by myself. I'd probably end up making the whole thing explode. XD

Yes, I finally got fed up with my laptop and decided to buy a new computer. One of the most important things to consider when buying one though, is whether Sims 2 will run smoothly or not.
So... how does the following combination sound to you:
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6300 (1.86 GHz),
- 1024 MB RAM,
- 500 GB (2x250) hard disc,
- 256 MB ATI X1650SE graphic card.

(I have Uni, Nightlife and OFB. I'm also thinking about purchasing Seasons.)

I'd get that combo with a reasonable price (and a monitor, too!), but is it worth it? Thank you in advance, I totally suck when it comes to the technical stuff.

Thank you very much ^_^

Okay, so I got this idea to have this family in my game to create a grocery store as a home business. I spent hours modifying their house to fit the purpose, but then when I was supposed to furnish the store, I realized you apparently can't use grocery store stuff on residential lots. At least they don't appear in the menus. Is there any way around this, or do I really need to make them purchase a community lot for their store? :icon9:
My original idea was to have them keep the store in the ground floor, and their apartment in the second floor.
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims 2 shutting down on its own? What's going on? on: May 28, 2007, 08:09:50 am
Phew, I finally found the problem. It was indeed a download, one that I didn't even remember downloading. XD And I suppose it also explains why my friend had the same problem. She asked me couple of days ago for some good download-sites, and I gave her a link to the same site where I downloaded the problem-item. I guess she must have downloaded the same item.

I probably should have went through my downloads-folder before even coming here to ask for help. It just seemed so very weird. ^^;;;
Thank you for all your comments, and apologies for wasting your time.
10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims 2 shutting down on its own? What's going on? on: May 27, 2007, 05:35:39 pm
Okay, I'm seriously confused here.
I just talked with a friend today and she mentioned that her game doesn't work: it loads for a while, and then shuts down on its own, as in returns to Windows.
We tried to come up with a solution for a long while, and finally gave up. Then couple of hours later I tried to launch my game, and... boom! It does exactly the same thing! Like... WHAT?!

Neither of us has installed anything out of ordinary, or messed with the game in any other way.
Does anyone have any idea what's the problem?
