1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Blue thumbnails in the buy mode/build mode catalog... on: April 07, 2018, 06:51:50 pm
Pretty much what it says in the title. I've got the meshes needed, it's just that the items show up that sick shade of blue in my buy/build mode catalog and it's driving me absolutely insane. Someone told me to delete the thumbnail folder and it will regenerate a new one when I restart the game but I hesitate to do this because it sounds kind of drastic. (That and I just now got all sixteen gigs of CC to play nicely together for the most part and I don't want to have to uninstall and then reinstall everything I have.) My husband was an absolute darling and got the EPs and stuff packs that I've been missing for years, and while it wouldn't take much time to reinstall, I'd then have to start adding CC back to the game folder by folder. My folders have subfolders to the the point of a friend telling me I have an OCD about my content. (If only I could do that with my house, you know?) I'm still using the same compute I had way back when I joined InSim, if that tells you much. Dell Inspiron, circa 2008, tower, and it runs XP. Ralphie is an old boy but he's still running well. I no longer connect to the net with him, just download on my newfangled laptop which runs Windows 8.1 and transfer over with a memory stick. Anyhoo, if anyone else has had this problem and fixed it, could you please share your solutions with me or at least allay my fears about the thumbnail folder deletion, I'd be very very grateful for the time you spend replying. Thank you!!!  ( Chainsaw go vroom! This is me when I see those crappy blue images!)
2  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / The Passing of a Creator... on: January 18, 2018, 05:21:33 pm
I don't know how many of you remember Sunni Designs for Sims 2, but she was awesome in the things she did. Sadly, today she passed away. For those of you who are members of Plumb Bob Keep and friends of hers, I extend my sympathies to you during this time. For those of you who have no idea of what I am talking about, suffice to say she was a sweet and talented lady who will be missed greatly. Personally, for me, she caused massive swellings of my download folder and my game would not have been as fun as it is without her. Fly with the angels, dear lady, and know that your friends will miss you, as will anyone who ever visited your site and the Keep. True, I just lurk there and download, but I've enjoyed a good deal of the content which continues to be put out for the game I still play. If you enjoy the medieval themed content, then Plumb Bob Keep is a good place to begin.
3  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Quick question for y'all. on: March 08, 2017, 05:34:39 pm
Recently I installed all of my games, including Bon Voyage which I really love, onto my tower again and have been enjoying the game once more but the tower has been moved back to my bedroom desk in order to save space on my desk out here in the living room. No problem, but I can't always play when I'd like to due to it being removed from the public area of the house. Nowadays, I have a laptop computer which I use quite a bit and actually prefer to the old tower at times, aside from missing XP like mad. The lappie uses Windows 8.1 and I'm considering trying to install my games on it and just using it for game play and internet. Here is where the question comes in for those of you who have stuck with me so far; has anyone here already done this and if so, how does the game work for you? Or, does it work at all? Thank you for any answers which might come my way!

Edited to add: the game installed fine but the stooopid patches won't work so I can't put anything on it beyond the base game!!! I am furious... To say the least.
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Now this is frustrating... on: December 26, 2015, 12:44:01 pm
I finally got back into playing Sims 2, even installed Bon Voyage and am loving it. But, I have a problem. The Sims 2 Clean installer program wouldn't allow me to uninstall it when I wiped my games from the computer years ago and now I have the newest version the maker came out with before she passed but it won't install because I still can't get the old one outta my program files. Does anyone have any expertise/advice on how to do this which doesn't involve an atom bomb, hard radiation, grenades, or other weapons of mass mayhem?  Mad2 Mad2 Mad2 I've got SimPE up and running, have used it a few times but the Clean Installer is just so much better when I wish to edit a house I've made and have a mind to upload, knowing that some folks want a clean version. To be frank (instead of Leroy), I dunno if I can even use SimPE for that purpose. Any suggestions are welcome, so long as you don't tell me to flush my digestive tract with Draino... Oh, and I hope the holidays which folks celebrate have been good ones for all of you!
5  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / How would you fight boredom if you were a cat? on: July 07, 2015, 03:51:18 pm
Personally, I'd hang on the outside of a screen door and piddle inside, but that's just me. Grin
6  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / HAPPY SPRING HOLIDAY! on: March 31, 2013, 04:11:50 pm
Whatever you celebrate this spring, I hope it's been a good one for you, as well as peaceful to you and yours. And now, I'm going to disappear down a rabbit hole and forget that I was awakened by a nine-year-old little boy squealing that the bunny should be under the bed hiding chocolate for him... Gotta love the excitement he's showing because it's the first time in his life that he's recognized this holiday.

8  Welcome to insimenator.org / Rules, News & Announcements / PMBD/MATY NEED YOUR HELP NAO!! (Long version for those who like to read.) on: February 07, 2012, 12:47:05 pm
The following announcement is not an open invitation to start a war/debate/flame fest about anyone's personal stance on the paysite/pirate debate and it won't be tolerated. This is simply us reaching out help someone who did the same for us in our time of need.

Hey, all, I know times are tough for all of us and some are tightening the belts as far as they can go, but may I remind you that we wouldn't be here without that damn Pesky Pescado and his crew of creative and critical crankies, of which I'm one. It's because of him that we even still exist as our own separate community after the Walter/Kathy&Ericgate thing went down a few years back and to put it quite simply; they're gonna go under without some financial backing from the people who use the Booty to get the paysite items needed to make some of their custom content work.

It doesn't have to be enough to float the boat of a small nation, although it would be nice, or it could be enough to cover the cost of say; a Big Mac, order of fries and a large orange drink. Hell, it could be the spare change you have laying around the dish you fling your keys into every night when you get home from work/school. Yeh, I've had my scrapes with his Royal Pooh-headedness but that's mostly been in fun and we do have a debt of honor to him that ought to be repaid. He hosted us until we could get our own hosting. He got us the forum with the data when we made the break. He also hosts a bunch of other good sites that will be lost for good if PMBD and MATY go down the flusher.

No, I'm not a fan of the grammar pickers at MATY, but they have their good points, I think. Just can't remember any at this particular moment... Oh, wait, yes I can! The Awesome Mod that so many of you use and rely on to fix your Sims 3 game can only be gotten over there because Pescado is the rotten such and such who makes it. You don't have to join to find it or download it, it's totally free without any kind of strings attached to it. There are also a slew of other mods which a good many of you most likely would be lost without. If you don't want to lose access to those, then now is the time to help them out.

PMBD is still mainly only the forum associated with the Booty, a gathering of free-site advocates and free content creators and assorted characters with the occasional invasion of the pro-pay individual seeking to convert us from our belief that all content should be free and not sold. We have our reasons for our beliefs and if you want to read those, fine and good. If all you want to do is snatch and grab the pay meshes for the recolours you've gotten in the past or to make them work at all, then now is the time to show some appreciation for the work done years ago into the present time by the behind-the-scenes people and give a bit of financial support.

The Booty offers a chance for the custom content viewer to make up their mind about whether they wish to pay for said pixels or not. It serves the greater good of the community by hosting content that many otherwise would not be able to enjoy/use. It breaks down the line that separates the elite/exclusive from the rest of us who do not have credit cards or the gullibility to pay for content which ought to be free according to the EULA. BUT, I'm not here to go into that argument, that has been done to death and I'm not likely to convert anyone who has their ideas set in stone about the issue.

I'm here to ask the adults in our community to help with keeping our options open by providing assistance to an old blow-hole like Pescado firmly ensconced where he is instead of blundering around this place like a ghost and making us miserable.... All joking aside, if Pes goes down, so will a bunch of other sites which many of us rely on to get content. If you are a member of PMBD/MATY, you'll know what I mean. But trust me when I say that if we lose those, if we let them slip away, the loss to how we play our games will be immeasurable. Please, even the donation of five or ten bucks can help and we only have until the end of this month to get the life preserver thrown to them before they go down for the last time and the whole history of the Booty is lost. We owe it to the old twerp to help because he saved our necks when we needed him. Time to pay it back, pure and simple. Thanks for hearing me out, I'll get off of my soap box and go back to napping on top of the fridge now...

Pescado needs your money. Give it to him. Now. Otherwise a lot of sites are going to be up the s**t creek without a boat, paddle or even a creek. A good many of you who use his mods, for both Sims 2 AND Sims 3 depend on what he’s made to make your game better and if you don’t want those poofing out, now is the time to help the Fat Obstreperous Jerk by making a monetary donation. Thank you.
10  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / ATTEN: MEMBERS AFFECTED BY THE TSUNAMI!! on: March 11, 2011, 01:17:30 pm
Please check in and let us know that you're safe and sound! We're your friends and care what happens to you, so please let us know how you are!

That said, I know we've got a good many members that live in the areas this thing is causing damage in, and I'm concerned and want to make sure that everyone is safe and sound because the alternative isn't something I want to think about. People from Japan to Australia to Kiwi country to South America to the West Coast of the U.S. are affected and I want to make sure that y'all are safe and not M.I.A. So, pipe up and let us know!!

For those of us that live more inland and in areas not physically affected, let's keep these folks in our thoughts and post some well wishes, prayers, positive energy or whatever force for good outcomes that you believe in, ok?

I'm bored now and have been taking some of the quizzes on this site and decided to start a new thread. I did a search on this particular quiz and don't see it posted, so...

You Are Wind

Strong and overpowering
A force to be reckoned with, no one dares cross you
You have the power to change everything around you

You are best known for: your wrath

Your dominant state: commanding

12  Welcome to insimenator.org / Rules, News & Announcements / NECROMANCY IS BAD, M'KAY?!? on: October 16, 2010, 02:03:06 pm
Let me explain what that title means. It is counted as necromancy when you reply to a thread that is more than a month or so dormant, unless it's a game thread or unless you have some new and useful information to impart to your fellow users.

Shall I define what necromancy means on a forum? It means dragging up a thread that had a useful life and informed people of things or asked questions and it was allowed to die down and go dormant because people had discussed the topic to its logical end. Necromancing the damn thing means that someone decided to drag it out of its grave because they wanted to add thanks, an insult, a stupid comment, you name it. If the information is not new or useful, it is necromancy.

Now, I dunno about you guys, but I find that kind of thing to be a massive pain in the spot of my body that connects with my chair. I don't like it. Most of the staff doesn't like it. A great many of our users do not like it. So don't do it!

We've noticed a great many acts of necromancy within the last week and have had to start locking those threads that have lain dormant for so very long because people obviously have not bothered to check the last date that it was posted in, they just thought they'd go to the back page of a section and drag out the last topic there and raise it, dumping the corpse of a peacefully resting topic onto the carpet of the rest of the site!

Now, we're asking that people don't do that. We don't care if it's the Halloween season or not, we don't wanna play with the damn zombies of threads that died ages ago, back almost to when this site was new the first time around. We don't like the smell. We don't like the drippings the critters leave on the carpets and the hard wood flooring. We don't like the stupid things jumping us from behind and screaming, "Brains!!" (or in the case of vegetarian zombies, "Grains!!") before they try to feed. Most of all, we don't like having to blow their flippin heads off by locking the topic so it once again gets buried and sinks back to where it belongs.

So, we're asking you, the user, please keep in mind that necromancy is bad, m'kay??

Maybe some of you are wondering if I'm serious concerning this topic, but that is for you to make up your own mind about. You'll see when I start taking names and kicking keisters.
13  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / Michelle's request on: September 07, 2010, 12:39:34 pm
OK, so I went banging around in SimPE and came up with a couple of recolours for the ValueWood door and archway, the Breeze-easy windows and the Wachowt door for michelle and I'm hoping these are kind of what you had in mind, if not, lemme know and I'll get busy again. You do have to admit that the gray is pretty grungy, though...  Grin

15  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / HAPPY NEW YEAR! on: December 31, 2009, 07:51:44 pm
Well, here it is in the States, New Year's Eve and as I sit here watching the movie that's in the player and running an eye over the site, I am amazed that no one has bothered to post a thread with New Year's wishes for their friends here at InSim. So, I'll start the thread for it myself!

May you have double the happiness that you deserve and a fourth of the bad that you've earned. Cheers and be careful while you celebrate, you never know what the idiots in other places are doing that could make them incapable of making good choices!
