Title: WCIF Dead or dying Christmas tree?
Post by: zammy on December 07, 2010, 06:27:07 pm
I've looked everywhere, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I've seen plenty of healthy, beautiful Christmas trees, but I'm looking for one that would suit a (very) poor family. Maybe something found on the side of the road, maybe not as full as every other tree. It doesn't have to be decorated, but maybe a few old ornaments or ones handmade by kids in school?

If it helps, I need it for this kid:

Billy from the Polar Express. I'm making a Sim music video type thing for "When Christmas Comes to Town" and I want *something* for him. Thanks everyone :)

 I just watched the Charlie Brown Christmas special, where Charlie picks the little twig tree and everyone laughs at him....

I saw the Charlie Brown type tree, actually, but it's not QUITE what I wanted. If all else fails, I'll use it, though. Thanks! :D

I'm looking for more of a dead tree than something green and pathetic. Like.... someone cut a tree too early or forgot to water it and it died before Christmas, so they threw it in the ditch and went to get a new one, so a poor family came along and took it because that's all they could get.

I'm working on recoloring one, but I've got puter problems and can't get the game running on either system!

Was thinking of removing some decoration and presents wrapped in newspaper.
With wat EP does it come?(so i can exclude all others in Simpe and search again...)

did some modding on a christmass tree last year but cant find that one either(its here on Insim somewhere lol)
@Miros, you can preview objects in Simpe ;)

It's the Holidays SP, Bloom. Both the 05 and 06 version.

According to SimPE, (if you have those packs installed) the holiday items are in the
TheSims2\TSData\Res\Catalog\bins\H05.bundle (or H06)

The christmas stuff were available on the official site for free earlier, but I think they were swallowed up by the hungry store...

Nah, the tree is still there (http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/object_detail.php?asset_id=62&searchPage=exch&search=1&asset_type=object&key=christmas&order=CREATION_DATE+desc&nrows=8&objectCat=&locality=&country=&view=new&hideFramework=&languageCode=).

I found the tree, but it's just the trunk and branches, no decorations.

BlooM, I'm running my back up computer that won't even run OFB with no downloads at the moment, so I suspect the newest version of SimPE wouldn't work either...

;) Just don't get carried away and buy both!  The 2006 Holiday Pack includes the 2005 Pack.

Looks like the tree decorations are together with the christmas present textures, probably with the meshes, too.

txtr files are "christmaspresents-presents" and "christmastree-green"

Ah ha!  Thanks, Raven, I'll try BlooM's idea to wrap 'em in newspaper....

You want the needles (leaves) to turn a light brownish green as well as falling out.  If you're tinkering with the mesh, you could twist a few branches to make holes or bulges so it's not the classic Christmas tree shape.

I've mailed the tree recolor to myself so I should get it tested on the other puter.  Just need to work on the newspaper wrappings on the presents, now that I know where their texture is!
