76  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Major Game problems. on: January 23, 2011, 11:18:02 pm
You're right, it WAS released before Pets. My eyes failed when I looked at the boxes sitting on the shelf next to me. Some of those combo packs want the player to use their disk instead of the older EP disk, though, which could be why the OP's game insistes on running from the FWP disk?

Here's an idea - try running the Seasons Bodyshop and see if that works?

Yes, it will remove the recolours from the game if you clear out the SavedSims folder. Just put them somewhere safe. You don't have to trash them.

Take all the files out of SavedSims. And remove your Downloads folder somewhere safe, too. Then delete all the cache files and cigen.package. For good measure, also delete the Thumbnails folder so all the thumbs have to be generated by the game again. Try firing up Bodyshop. Then try the game and see if you still get the crashes when trying do do anything to do with clothes, which appears to have been your major problem and the main way to force a crash.

It's possible one of your Bodyshop recolours has become corrupted and is causing the crash, which is why using wardrobes, CAS and Bodyshop leads to crashes. If taking out all CC, including the stuff made by you, fixes it, you will need to do the 50/50 again. Start with the files that were in SavedSims, but this time start putting them into Downloads. It is best to use SavedSims as temporary storage and move stuff to Downloads as soon as you know that something is working in-game. Despite what some people say, sim files do not have to go into SavedSims and work just as well in Downloads. You just need to make sure that the sim was cloned first so you don't end up putting pure extracted sims in there.

Since Pets and especially Fun With Pets is a later EP than Seasons, it is perfectly normal for it to be running from the Pets disk. Seasons is not the latest pack you have. You simply bought it last. Purchasing and installation order has nothing to do with which disk is used to run the game. Release order is the important factor and Pets is actually your latest EP.

Do you extract a lot of sims or make lots of Bodyshop recolours or lots of sims? Try clearing out your SavedSims folder and see if that helps your Bodyshop loading. If you have too many extracted sims or new sims or Bodyshop recolours in SavedSims that can cause crashes, too.

It's part of this set. Or at least the wall patterns in the bottom right of the preview pic looks very much like it. I don't have it in my game so I'm not sure if the complete wall looks exactly like that.
80  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF: Crash Logger on: January 16, 2011, 06:10:46 am
I have never heard of such a thing.

The closest I can think of is the Hack Conflict Detection Utility, aka HCDU, which you can find on Simwardrobe under Sims 2 > Programs. It scans your Downloads folder for content that may be conflicting and reports the possible conflict. The operative words here being "may be conflicting" and "possible conflict" as it searches for files that modify the same function. It cannot actually tell whether the conflict will cause any problems or a crash.

The most effective "crash logger" and "conflict finder" is the user. If you have something that is causing your game to crash the most effective method is to remove all your Downloads and then start re-introducing them either in small batches or using the 50/50 method and testing the game each time you put some more back into the game, and weeding out and halving the batches until you come up with the problem file.

Everyone I know uses the HCDU as a jump off point but if they fail to identify a real conflict using that program then the good old 50/50 search is what everyone uses. And sometimes the item that crashes your game will not be reported as a hack conflict, eg. the tiki sidetable by Simaddict99 on TSR used to cause crashes (not sure if it's been fixed or not) but did not come up in the HCDU as a conflict because it was a faulty mesh and not a hack conflict. Sometimes you just have to apply elbow grease to fix a game because there is no program to atually do it for you.

The blue chair in the last pic is indeed from IKEA. Without recolours it's just comes in red and it's called The Poang Chair (or similar).

They will sit there staring at the screen until they die of starvation, pretty much. When I was testing this mod in the beta stage my sim just sat there, watching TV like a square eyed zombie. And sat and watched. And watched. And watched. And then she was really hungry and ready to pee herself so I took pity on her and made her turn off the TV. But she wouldn't do it by herself.
83  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF: Curtains that use bedding textures? on: January 13, 2011, 11:57:21 pm
Unless the bedding is specifically part of the mesh (eg. some beds from Sims In Paris or Peggy) it is a recolour of one of the base game beds. So curtains that you find that are repositoried to take their textures from bedding would draw their textures from all bedding that you have available in your game.

It sounds like you might be talking about CTNutmegger's Dazzle Drapes, which you can find as part of sets here. Just take a look through there to see if you recognise those, but it does say that they aer repositoried to take their textures from bedding.

There is also this set. In the description it quite clearly explains that the curtains are repositoried to take their textures from the Colonial Ironwood Bed and thus will draw textures from all bedding you have in your game - both Maxis ones and downloaded ones. This is, as I already said, also true for other repositoried curtains.

And Huge Lunatic has a couple more repositoried curtains here.

If you are looking for a specific set it would be helpful to know what the curtains looked like. Were they hanging straight to the floor? Drawn to the sides like some of the drapes you have been linked to? What exactly are we looking for, other than any random item that is categorised under deco>curtains and is repositoried to bedding?

Do you have Pescado's nounlinkondelete mod? If you don't, they've been unlinked and cannot be recovered (as far as I know). No point in trying to find a solution for an unsolvable problem, which is what this is if you don't have that hack installed.
85  The Sims 3 / Pudding WCIF / Re: WCIF. fallout 3 extracted furniture and deco for sims 3 on: January 05, 2011, 07:44:21 pm
Yes, they do. The .package files end up being installed into a folder called DCBackup. But you can delete those and rely on only the .dbc files in DCCache for content installed from Sims3Pack files.

Do you mean from sitting on the ground and looking at the stars? Alien abduction from stargazing with the expensive telescope has been available since the base game.
88  The Sims 3 / Pudding WCIF / Re: WCIF Lifetime Happiness Reward Mod/Cheat/Tip? on: December 20, 2010, 10:25:50 pm
I know this is just over a month old but I actually have something to add  Cheesy

Activate debug mode (testingcheatsenabled true) then go to the Lifetime Happiness tab. You then Ctrl+click next to the numbers. A visual aid:

Ctrl+click where the X is. A friend who doesn't use any mods uses this method so it should work with just plain debug mode and not need the extended debug commands.
89  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF this HipHop Outfit on: December 16, 2010, 08:01:43 pm
Found the tights http://www.twinlifevn.com/4rum/showthread.php/327-Clothes-Hiphop-clothes-cuI-rA-I-i-up-laI-i-P-

You must register to download, though, and the site is in Vietnamese. There seems to be instructions in English so hopefully you can get at least the tights. There seem to be only 3 pages of downloads so maybe you can look through the rest of the posts, see if you can find it.

That's good to know Smiley Those posts used to have descriptions of the items so when the descriptions and images disappeared I thought that the mods had been taken down as well.

Thanks, DaSpecial1!
