Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / First Impressions

Apartments: Haven't played them, and not really interested in them.
New Hairs: Cool, but such a waste. Eight different hairs, with the same style, to change the color of the hair bow?
New Clothes: Not bad. Disappointed that there weren't any for the little ones. A lot have already been created by people in the Sims community anyway. They're certainly more interesting than the ones from the other packs.
Witchcraft: I like, but wish there were more spells, objects, and reagents. The magical communities aren't a favorite, but I'm loving my feline familiar.
Belladonna Cove: Deleted as soon as the game was installed.
New styles: Eh, not bad. Gotta love the stairs.
Not bad so far. I was too tired to enjoy it last night, and a thunder storm totally rained on my parade (no pun intended...well okay, maybe a little one) tonight. Probably won't get to fully enjoy it until Saturday.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Witchy-Poo

I have a goodie and a baddie. They're a married couple who have a teenaged daughter. I've had the father (baddie) cast a few spells on some random victims...er...neighbors . Mom (goodie) has spent her time casting naturey type spells. It's fun, but I was frustrated yesterday when I couldn't change them out of their clothes. They were not walking around like that throughout the entire game! Whatever happened fixed itself though. Looking at them now, they look like your typical Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sim.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Soooo...sniffing cauldrons makes you super smart?
|

Okay, yes it's kind of a strange question, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My teen sim has two very "interesting" parents - mommy's a nice witch, and daddy's an evil warlock. Lately, I've let her go poking around in her parents' books and cauldrons to see if she could start practicing magic on her own. As some of you may know already, it was a no go for either, as she was nipped at by the books and ran into the bathroom for water after sniffing the cauldrons. Fine. However, she's having a weird (yet good) side effect; very very speedy skilling! I would say that it was because of her knowledge aspiration and having the "eureka" function enabled, but both parents have the same thing, and they're building skills at the normal (albeit a little quicker) pace. Meanwhile, the little one can blow through a skill in three hours. Anyone else experiencing this pleasant side effect? I have two hacks (censor, and "never refuse skilling"), but that's it.

Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misses / Maxis Teen Maternity Project - Seasons
|
on: March 16, 2008, 12:17:55 pm
|
how is it possible for a teen sim to get pregnant? Three ways, Catt: 1. InSim - there is an Independent Teen option. They have the body and clothing of a teen, but the lifestyle, job, interaction options and perks of an adult. 2. Inteen - the teen can actually get pregnant, but will briefly age to an adult for the duration of the pregnancy (still retain the body, and responsibilities of a teen depending on the flavor packs that you install along with it). 3. Teen Pregnancy Mod (Sims2Living - donation file) - the teen stays a teen while pregnant, and has adult interactions with other teens, YA, adult, or elder sims. **Love these Damage, thank you so much .**

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Bon Voyage

I like BV, but the novelty of traveling wore off after about a week. It's an interesting expansion pack though, if you're into just relaxing, and being away from home when your sims need a break.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / anyone else NOT having problems?
|
on: February 03, 2008, 01:37:47 pm

No problems here, other than a hang every once in a while on a packed business lot. I thought this had disappeared with Pets, but guess not...oh well. I just added another GB of RAM (up to 1.5), have all the expansion packs (one stuff pack - Teen Stuff) and run it with Insim, Inteen, ARC, a few other minor hacks, about 140MB of food (I should be ashamed of myself), and 150MB or so of other things (clothes, skins, hair, objects, bedding, etc.). It's a little slow, but nothing to sneeze over.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / kids crying over parents kiss??

There as another post like this...I think it started happening after Seasons came out. It's never happened to me before, but it seems like a few other people have experienced the same thing. Try searching the general discussion board. Maybe there's a fix for it now (?). Good luck.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / pregnant while on vacation?
|
on: September 16, 2007, 01:38:33 pm

One of my sims got pregnant while on vacation. She didn't get sick, and was okay until she came home, but then she "bumped up" as soon as she came home from work, then did it again roughly twelve (not twenty four) hours later. Weird. Anyway, she's fine, had her baby, and moved on.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / New Songs?

Howdy folks, hope that you're all enjoying Bon Voyage . I was wondering if anyone knows what the new songs that have been added with this expansion pack are. I'd like to find the "normal" version of one dance song sung by two women that sounds eerily like the "teach you, teach you, teach you" part of the Electric Slide. I've heard it on the Three Lakes and Twikkii Islands lots with the blue and green/red/yellow juke boxes. Help :worship:!!! Take care, enjoy!

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Major (graphics?) issue. Major error recovery.
|
on: August 20, 2007, 05:28:50 pm

Thank you caffinated and Tenshi, and yes, I was shocked when I saw those graphics! I never had a problem with game crashes, maybe only experiencing about a total of five or six since I have had the game (from the time that it came out, and at least half of them were my fault ). I do download quite a bit, and just need something that will push it along a bit faster. Aside from the tutorial that Paladin has provided, is there anything else I can do to speed it up? Just so no one suggests it, I refuse to use a registry cleaner lol. Thank you for your help.

Video card is in (had it since 7/5 but been busy playing lol)! I got the 7300 NVIDIA GS, and it runs beautifully (never knew the tomb stones and pools had detail lol). Aside from being a bit slower now, I love it! Guess the next step is to get more RAM (at 512MB now, going to add another 512MB). Will this speed things up? Houses take about 1.5 minutes to load, going back to the neighborhood takes about 25 seconds (not complaining there), and CAS takes roughly a minute. I have all of the packs installed, minus the stuff packs, nothing running in the background (lots of downloads *blush*), and no spyware (no internet, scan each file that is added to the game).

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / GeForce GT, GS, GTX? Does it matter? (and other)
|
on: July 03, 2007, 09:16:16 am
|
As some of you know, I am now on the quest for a new graphics card, and I'm starting to put more thought into the GeForce series (namely 7800 because it's cheap lol). I have all of the expansion packs (save for the stuff packs), and about 500+MB of custom content (food :smt120) and still downloading. I noticed that after Seasons, my game started to lag, and would only run smoothly if I made ranch homes, with about four sims in the house. I want to be able to build my huge houses with huge families again. Before anyone asks, these are my computer specs - http://www.amazon.com/Pavilion-Desktop-Pentium-Processor-Technology/dp/B0003VO4MG however I no longer have the same graphics card (removed that long ago lol). It's basically empty save for The Sims, and maybe a hand full of programs. I've used about 18 - 20GB of space so far, and that's it. So before I go shopping, I have a few questions: 1. I'm looking at the GeForce series, but the GT, GS, and GTX are causing me some worry. Does the type of 7000 series (as far as the "G's" are concerned) make any difference? 2. What would make my game run faster? 3. Should I stick with the Radeon series (shooting for x1300 if I do), or move to GeForce? I don't use the computer for video viewing/making, or basically anything other than the Sims, Bodyshop and SimPE. 4. Do GeForce cards use shared memory, or are they "independent?" 5. From the specs on my computer, is there anything that I should do to it before installing my new card (or even looking for my new card)? That's it for now. I'm going to Staples today to get some tech support, but wanted to give them a heads up. Thanks in advance.
