I am using sims2 base game with no extensions. How can I show/hide the game console?

I'm not sure I get what you're asking... are you talking about the UI at the bottom of the screen while in Live/Buy/Build mode?  If so, you can probably still press F10 to hide that.  I know it's working for the EPs I have, so I guess this was something that was built into the base game, too.  :dontknow:

Try hitting the Tab key.

Thanks for the replies.
I am using a mac and the f keys are by default designated for other mac specific uses.
I tried the tab key and, although it does eliminate the console, also puts the camera into free movement mode and it is hard to control. Is there any other method, or is there a way to specify using the tab keys for in game commands?

:scratch:  Well... a mac user would probably help you out a little better on that part.  Free camera mode is just for movie/picture taking purposes, and doesn't help at all with regular game play, but there's got to be an equivalent to F10's "hide" function for Mac users... :dontknow:
