1. The CD/DVD is scratched up to the point the CD/DVD player probably can't read the disc. 2. If you're computer savvy, you can check the cable and wire connections between the CD/DVD player and the motherboard. *But you already mentioned that you can play other games just fine with the CD/DVD player. So #2 isn't necessary. Depending on when you bought Sims 3, you can take it back to exchange for a new one as long as you have the original receipt and explain that you were having issues with the CD/DVD not starting Sims 3 up. There is one other question. Do you use Pescado's Awesome Mod and a configuration file with the No CD check enabled? Another problem im having now is when i download Riverview it doesnt fully download and buildings are missing.
