Title: Venturing into new territory/My two cents
Post by: Nonni on August 26, 2009, 03:00:36 pm
The Inseminator.Org was the first forum in which I had ever participated. Recently I have been searching other website forums and found that it is rough out there. Most of these other sites were found when searching this site for information and being directed to them for modifications.

This section (A Safe Haven) really is just that. Even so, I am almost afraid to post without checking and re-checking grammar and spelling. Evidently it is a hugh thing with some admin and moderators at other sites. The people at this site (InSim) show more patience and tolerance with those of us that fumble.

However, the "rulers" at other sites do say that, as they do the work of administrating and moderating, it is their site and they make the rules. I can now see that proper form and netiquette (new-to-me word I found) are essential so that our admins and moderators can help us. That is the whole deal in a nutshell:

They are trying to help us.

I agree. The mods and admins at InSim are genarally way nicer than some at other sites. I don't belong to any other forums really like this one. Some of the people that own other sites can be such jerks with their iron thumb crap.

Here on Insim, the mods very rarely yell at people. Usuallly it's only when people don't use punctuation, or capitals, or type in chat speak, or type "lIkE tHiS" or "lIKE tHIS", or don't even try to spell things right or use periods instead of the space bar. That crap is annoying, so you can't really blame them. But usually if there is just a minor spelling mistake, they don't hound us.

*gasps* A typo! How dare you! Didn't they teach you anything in school? I swear, in my day, they'd have skinned your knuckles raw with a ruler for such a travesty! You're so totally banned.

:D Next thing you know, they're going to ask for "Typo Amnesty Day" or some silly nonsense like that in the hope that you won't feed them to the rats, Jenna. :D

Hehe, speaking of rulers and knuckles, one of my older friends got slapped in the back of his hand with a ruler by the teacher. She didn't know he was a totaly psycho and he freaked out and threw a chair through the classroom TV. It turns out that later, after going to the doctor, he found out that the teacher cracked the bone in his middle knuckle.

"Typo Amnesty Day" I can only imagine the pandemonium that would ensue. :D

Where i went to school if your parents said the teachers could paddle you the were allowed. Anyway, this kid in the classroom across the hall got paddled and he took the paddle from this fifty (im exaggerating) year old teacher and hit her with it, he broke her nose... that was scary.
