Title: Sleuthing: Custom Content with long alpha/numeric chains Post by: Nonni on September 28, 2009, 05:38:47 pm How can I locate source or link for custom content when the Name is only a long chain of numbers and letters? What is the MD5 number also listed in the Clean Pack installer discription after Name and Type?
Long before I thought about contributing, I downloaded many, many beautiful and fun custom Sims for my Sims 2 game. I was totally ignorant that I would need that info to share the Sims I made. I know ignorance is not an acceptable excuse. But can anyone give me a clue how to find this information? If so, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Title: Re: Sleuthing: Custom Content with long alpha/numeric chains Post by: Theraven on September 28, 2009, 05:55:11 pm Unless there's no name on this content inside Bodyshop or CAS (sometimes a text comes up when hovering the mouse over the thumbnail), then it might be impossible to find out - especially if you have no idea where you got it, and of it is an old file.
If you're uploading a sim here, it is probably enough to post a picture of the Clean pack installer window. If the creator never named the file anything sensible, then (in my opinion) it is that person's fault. Just remember that the first file showing up in Clean Installer (a string of numbers) is usually the sim itself ;) Title: Re: Sleuthing: Custom Content with long alpha/numeric chains Post by: ancienthighway on September 28, 2009, 06:09:44 pm The MD5 is a unique checksum used to verify the integrity of files. It's actually useful with Clean Installer to identify duplicate files.

I was using the Clean pack to clean up a file and I was taking out the unidentified "string" - so that's why I can't find them!?! 2blush 2rofl |
