Title: Custom content? Post by: mybeautifulparanoiax on July 17, 2010, 12:22:02 pm For some reason, all my custom content looks different than it does for the people who have created it. For example, they should look the way they do in the preview icon in CAS, yes? Well, they don't. They're blurrier and the colours are sometimes off. I can't figure out why. I've tried changing the settings but nothing's worked.
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: Hammie on July 17, 2010, 12:44:05 pm This sounds like a graphic settings issue. Okay, what you do for this is, you click on the icon in options that looks like a computer screen. (You can press F5 to get to options) and set everything to high. Make sure when the game asks you: "Do you want to keep these settings? Changes will revert in fifteen seconds." Press yes, that you do want to keep the settings. This should solve the problem. Are you putting your CC in the proper folder: My Documents/EA Games/ The Sims 2/ Downloads? And, if you're using custom content that needs to be enabled, you'll get a little pop up right when you start the game. Check "enable Custom Content" log off the game, and then restart it. Then, everything will be working. I hope I helped. ;D
PS- Make sure your computer can handle higher graphic settings. Also, if you use .sims2packs, make sure you save those to: My Documents/EA Games/ The Sims 2/ SavedSims. ~Hammie Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: mybeautifulparanoiax on July 17, 2010, 01:10:28 pm I have sims2packs. I just install them, so I assume they go to the saved sims?
Also, I've tried the highest settings. And restarting the game doesn't work for me. I did that once when I forgot to install something and everything still looked the same. Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: Hammie on July 17, 2010, 01:12:29 pm 1wtf That's really weird. Maybe your computer can't handle higher graphics settings? Try looking on the back of the box for the graphic requirements to see if your computer is up to par.
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: miros1 on July 17, 2010, 01:18:27 pm I have this problem. It's because my video card died and the cheap one the repair guy sold me isn't up to par.
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: mybeautifulparanoiax on July 17, 2010, 02:14:54 pm I have an emachine with a newer version of Windows vista.
Could it be something with the emachine's graphic card, then? Everything else seems to work fine. It's just the custom content that gets blurry. Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: Hammie on July 17, 2010, 03:43:17 pm Yes, it's probably the graphics card. You might want to look into purchasing a new one. Google Newegg. They're an online shop that sells computer parts for a good price. I had to end up getting a lot of things when I first got TS2, but then again, my computer is a 1995 model. With non custom content, does it look like the Sims clothes have melted into them, or does it look like an actual outfit?
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: mybeautifulparanoiax on July 17, 2010, 03:55:19 pm It depends on the outfit. Some are like, tight on them o-o
The others, like dresses and such, actually come off the body, if that's what you're asking. Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: Hammie on July 17, 2010, 03:58:33 pm I meant, on Maxis clothes, is the detail sharp, or is it blurry? Sorry I wasn't clear before. 1:D
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: mybeautifulparanoiax on July 17, 2010, 04:12:49 pm My reply was worse than your odd-worded question xD
Uh, the detail seems normal. It's not changed and I don't use maxis clothes often enough to really notice if it wasn't the right quality. For the most part, it looks the way it does on the box. Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: Hammie on July 17, 2010, 04:15:50 pm Hm. Maybe it's just the custom content, then? I have this one dress that I love, and it looks wonderful, right up to the chest. It's strapless, and the part that covers the woman's chest looks like it's melting into her and I have my settings on high and the best graphics card available. Maybe it's just bad CC?
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: mybeautifulparanoiax on July 17, 2010, 04:33:44 pm I'm not sure. It's always like that. And no one else has complained about it.
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: mybeautifulparanoiax on July 17, 2010, 05:10:12 pm Oh, it works now :D
Ahhah, I'm happy now. xD Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: Hammie on July 17, 2010, 05:16:10 pm Awesome! Did you ever find out what was wrong? I'm glad to hear your game is working properly again! 1yay
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: mybeautifulparanoiax on July 17, 2010, 07:39:03 pm For some reason it decided to cooperate this time when I changed the graphic settings.
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: Hammie on July 18, 2010, 01:16:46 pm 2omg That's awesome. I'm glad to hear it finally decided to work for you.
Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: jnlchpll on August 01, 2010, 11:31:35 am I'm having a little bit of a problem. I want to customize EVERYTHING I can. I've been downloading objects and clothes from sites for my game. But I want to learn how to do it myself. How to make clothes, and beds, and things like that. Can anyone help me with that? Also, Where can I get things for my game? I have a couple of websites but a lot of it won't download into my game, idk why, I think it has something to do with the way I download them.
Any suggestions? Title: Re: Custom content? Post by: miros1 on August 03, 2010, 01:46:46 pm Somewhere around here is BeosBoxBoy's tutorial on downloading, unzipping, and installing custom content. You really want to get that working reliably before you try making custom content.
Next step is recoloring. BodyShop for clothes, HomeCrafter for wall coverings and flooring, SimPE for objects. Good luck! Title: Re: Custom content? Please start your thread in the future, please. Try using Google to look for tutorials on creating custom content for The Sims 2. There are literally a ton out there. You could also try taking a look at out own tutorials (http://www.insimenator.org/index.php/board,34.0.html) and modding help (http://www.insimenator.org/index.php/board,41.0.html) center. In the meantime, I'm going to lock this thread. |
