Title: Family tree bug
Post by: RioKiller on December 10, 2012, 06:25:26 am
Hi,

I have a problem with the family trees.

for example

Everyone is still alive and the family tree is displayed correctly.

But when the man and his wife dies, their relationship is broken as you can see

I've just let them die - no divorce, no marriage with another sim or rebirth.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem ?  :(

Pretty sure sims are "divorced" at death. They only show as married when they're alive. Otherwise they would not be able to re-marry.

Theraven is right. It's not a bug, but an actual mechanic of the game. If the sim didn't "divorce" when their husband/wife died, they would not be able to remarry and any other romantic relationship they would get into would register as them cheating.

Ok, I understand you.

Otherways can I "Repair" it with an addon or something like that ?

Base game sims have the family trees "Perfect"  ;)

It's probably a game bug. As far as we know, it's not even certain they played through the sims properly first.
The game default is divorce by death, so I think the already existing family trees which have the marriages in order are faked somehow.

This sounds like you might want JMP's "marriage post-mortum" fix from MATY (More Awesome Than You).
If you download, make sure you get the one for your Expansion Pack level.

Here's what the fix "readMe" file says...

FIXES:
The marriage "spouse" line is no longer automatically disconnected after death.
The surviving partner may remarry as usual, which will correctly connect the
line to the new partner and disconnect the old one, but unless the survivor
remarries, when he dies, their marriage line will still show as connected on the
family tree, like those of the deceased Maxian families.

Yes, that should be perfect.

I have all exp. packs

The Sims 2 University
The Sims 2 Nightlife
The Sims 2 Open for Business
The Sims 2 Pets
The Sims 2 Seasons
The Sims 2 Bon Voyage
The Sims 2 Free Time
The Sims 2 Apartment Life

and NO snuff packs.

Can you please give me a link to that mode ?

Go here http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=069d061be8313ba3b7b17c81d60f4549&topic=7.0 (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=069d061be8313ba3b7b17c81d60f4549&topic=7.0). Choose the "Official Stuff - Apartment Life" entry, then choose "hacks" and download the marriage-postmortum.zip file.

MATY and Pescado have numerous corrections to broken or stupid actions in the game. You may even find some other fixes there that you've been wishing for.
