Go to My Documents, then EA Games, then The Sims 2, copy all of the files in the Downloads folder, and paste them in a new backup folder on your desktop. Then you won't need to worry about losing your custom content. If you do lose it, reinstall it from the backup later.

Title: Stupid H and M pack Post by: miros1 on July 28, 2007, 10:19:07 pm Yes, you need to reinstall Seasons. No, you're not going to lose anything.
1) Start->My Documents. 2) Double click the "EA Games" folder. 3) Right click the "The Sims 2" folder. 4) Select "Rename" from the context (pop up) menu. 5) Type "The Sims 2 safe" and press Enter. 6) Reinstall Seasons. Install H&M Stuff if desired. 7) Run the game. 8) Repeat steps 1-3. 9) Pick "Delete" from the context menu. (This is the folder your reinstall of Seasons made, don't worry.) 10) Right click the "The Sims 2 safe" folder. 11) Pick "Rename" from the context menu. 12) Type "The Sims 2" and press Enter. You should be right back where you were. Personally, I do this before installing any of EA's buggy stuff. Title: Stupid H and M pack Post by: tragedymcneil on July 28, 2007, 10:30:55 pm it tells me i don't have permission to rename. Ok now I have renamed it, but wont uninstalling it to reinstall it corrupt to delete my families?
Title: Stupid H and M pack Post by: miros1 on July 28, 2007, 10:52:51 pm No. Once the folder is renamed, your families and CC are 100% invisible to the whole uninstall/reinstall process.
I guess I should have warned you that you might need to reboot before you can perform the rename step. Usually just waiting a few minutes will let the operating system settle down so you can rename the folder, but I swear, sometimes an evil demon is hiding in there ... Title: Stupid H and M pack Post by: tragedymcneil on July 28, 2007, 10:58:26 pm Ok so after H and M pack is installed I run the game before switching the name back? Won't I have to close the game in order to change the name back and delete the new the sims 2 folder?
Title: Stupid H and M pack Post by: miros1 on July 28, 2007, 11:14:14 pm Lol, yep.
