Title: An uploaded lot crashes people who downloads game!
Post by: lewisb40 on September 17, 2007, 04:43:10 pm
Hello everyone.  I am at my wits end on why a file I uploaded for an ocean lot residential is crashing in downloaders game.  I really hate that. I have never had problems with any of my other lots crashing, and am perplexed with this one.  The post link is: http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?p=939852#post939852.  Do anyone have ideas, or can help me pinpoint the problem?  Thank you!

Lots are peculiar animals to share.

If the downloader doesn't have all the EPs that the creator used, there's an excellent chance it won't work.

While the land-locked lots had some freedom in placement, beach lots with the need to have the water a set distance from the road could be a problem.  Trying to place a beach lot where it looks like the terrain would work isn't always successful.  The only terrains guaranteed to accept beach lots are Cresent Island and Moon Islands.  Bluewater might have a spot or two.

Hi Ancient.  If someone is using the ocean lot and try placing the lot on the shores of, let's say, a custom neighborhood, it may not work?  Not always on maxis neighborhoods?  I uploaded a oceanfront hotel and had no complaints, so is the problem just residential?

I just tried installing that lot.  Even installed f'in Pests to do it.  Lot only, no CC.  It crashes when trying to enter the lot, possibly because of a corrupt sims2pack.  Try repackaging it, installing it into your game and verify you can install it.  If so, replace the file for download.
