Title: La Carlotta as Elissa in Hannibal Post by: ShadowTerra13 on December 28, 2007, 01:30:06 pm From the 2004 film of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, I give you La Carlotta in her Hannibal costume as she plays Elissa, Queen of Carthage and lover of Hannibal (as played by Minnie Driver). Elissa, actually, is another name for Dido, the first and founding Queen of Carthage and lover of Aeneas, several hundred years before Hannibal Barca. And Carthage in Hannibal's time was run by the leading merchants and traders of Carthage. However, Andrew Lloyd Webber can ignore the facts all he wants because I beleive this is a magnificent costume.
