Title: Missing options on target sim menu!
Post by: ilovecigs on June 11, 2008, 11:45:32 am
I always had the 'selectable' option enabled with InSIMenator on my target sim menu. A couple days ago it wasn't showing up anymore. and I have no clue what it could be. I thought it could be some kind of conflict but I checked it with HCDU and there was no conflicts related to the InSIM, or anything else...
Help please :smt120

I'm thinking you have a mod not updated that overrides the menus that appear on the sims. Both InSim and Inteen were written to not override those menus, but append to them.
It isn't a mod conflict so HCDU won't show it. It is something modifying the game code though, so if you turn on the Enable/Disable Custom Content screen it should be listed there, along with all the other mods you have that aren't causing a problem. Using that list you can start to go through your mods, targeting the ones that may effect the sim menus and hopefully find your problem mod.

But the thing is, the option that's missing is an option that comes with the insimenator. And I have both, insim and inteen updated for free time. Plus I have no clue how I'd find the problem file with the CC screen in game :smt120 How do I know which one is the problem file? Do you think it's a hack or something else?

If you haven't already, set up some subfolders under Downloads. I recommend using Clean Installer to do this, and use the Clean Installer "types" as the subfolder names. - Start up Clean Installer.
- Scan the Downloads folder, recursively.
- Click on the Types column header to sort by types.
- Select everything of a given type, for example Object Recolors.
- Right click on one of the selected files and select Move To New. Name the subfolder as that type. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each type.
Caution. Some mods that have multiple package files may have some of the packages with a type identifier. Twojeffs ACR and Jase's Inteenimater come to mind, although there may be others. Inge Jones' school and prison system may do so also. Make sure you keep all of the multipackage files together so when you update them, everything gets updated properly.- The majority of what is left in the Downloads folder will be meshes and mods. If you want you can go down the list and select anything with mesh in the filename and move those files to a Mesh subfolder.
- Move the Downloads folder with all of the subfolders to the Desktop.
- Delete groups.cache, accessories.cache, cigen.package, and the contents of the Thumbnails folder. All will be regenerated by the game.
- Create a new Downloads folder under The Sims 2 folder. Also create a new subfolder called Test under Downloads.
- Move the Inteenimater and InSIMenator packages from the Desktop\Downloads to the TS2\Downloads folder.
- Start up your game and go to a neighborhood you don't play or create a new neighborhood. This is so your active neighborhoods aren't altered by the lack of any CC in your game.
- Create a new family, place in game, and check out the sim menus. Once you have InSim configured the way you want it, you should have all the menus you expect on your target and active sims, along with destination menus if you use the SIM or DEST version of InSim.
- Save and exit the game.
- Go to the Desktop Downloads folder and move some of the packages not in subfolders to the Downloads\Test folder. I like to keep the number to 5 or less.
- Start up your game, and go to the test family you created. If you still have all of your menus items, everything in the Test subfolder is good and after exiting the game, those files in Test can be moved to Downloads. If you are missing menus, then pull those packages out and test each one by itself.
- Repeat steps 14 and 15 until all of the .package files have been included in the game's Download folder or identified as being a problem and left out of the game.
- For the problem mods, you can decide if you want it and go searching the web for an updated version, or just leave it out of the game.
- Move the subfolders from the Desktop Downloads folder to your game's Download folder.
Note. This may solve the problem you have with the missing CC since installing the FT patch also.
This may solve the problem you have with the missing CC since installing the FT patch also.
Oh man this is so complicated :/ I'm gonna try that tomorrow (because today is valentines day in Brazil :D haha) But in case this helps, here are the hacks that I have installed. insim inteen christianlov's no privacy bathroom MQ sunlight lamps Smonaff's bad habits MQ dig for treasure Numenor slot enable package for counters SimMcFlyPotion a few movie making hacks Smonaff's No jealousy unless sims are compromised MQ werewolf transformer controller sleep on floor and a couple vampire hacks. And what makes me angry is that I never had any problems with the hacks before. I see no reason why it should start now :sad5: I do have everything very organized in my downloads folder. I always make sure that each hack has its own folder on the subfolder i have called called 'hack'. I manage to fix the missing CC from the buy mode. And custom furniture is showing alright. The only thing missing is the 'selectable" option on the pie menu. :/ This is so frustrating! Thanks a lot for the help.. I'm gonna try that tomorrow and hope it works! :D
