My boyfriend and I both play the Sims 2. He just got a new video card, and now when he plays the Sims, totally randomly, the game exits out, with no warning. He plays, then suddenly, he just sees his desktop. His video card is a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, and before that, he says it worked perfectly. He runs Windows XP Professional, and meets all the game requirements. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Please help! :smt120 Title: The Sims 2 Shutting out, no error? HELP! If you have any custom content in your Downloads folder, there's probably a bad/incompatible mesh that's causing that. Try moving your Downloads folder to your Desktop and running the game to see if it will fully load.
If it does, I suggest you start pulling out any custom content you've added to your Downloads folder since the last time your game played right, and testing those files by adding them back in a few at a time and running your game until you find the problem one. ;) Also, if you don't have custom content in your game at all, have you tried deleting your Groups.cache, Accessory.cache, and cigen.package files in your "The Sims 2" folder? Update to the most current driver, or roll back to a previous version until the fix is found.

Post by: caffeinated.joy on August 08, 2008, 01:27:27 am Also if he got a new video card, he should double check to make sure the old video drivers are completely uninstalled. Having more than one video driver can cause conflict.
