Title: A Question About The Saved Sims Folder.
Post by: EKozski on September 18, 2008, 07:17:16 am
I recently created a Sim in Body Shop. When I started the game up and went to my CAS and clicked on the Sim Bin, I crashed. So, I deleted my groups.cache and cigen files, emptied my Thumbnails folder out, and took out all but two of the Sims in my Saved Sims folder. I went by date modified.

Everything went fine, but the Sim I created wasn't in the Sim Bin. Several of the Sims I created wasn't there. Which makes me wonder, if they are already in the game, do I really need them? The Sim I extracted with SimPE wasn't there either. Neither was the clone.

So, I'm trying to figure out how a Sim created in BodyShop can become corrupt in such a short amount of time. Custom Content wouldn't be an issue I think if the game starts without a problem.

Here I sit working on my second pot of coffee totally frustrated. :cussing:

Have you tried moving them into your Downloads folder temporarily and seeing if the game will read them then?  ;)

That, and since you said you removed everything but two sims from your SavedSims folder by date modified, that probably includes the newest sims you created that went missing.    That is, unless my morning grogginess has clouded my judgment and thinking process...

Oh Tenshii.....:love2:

You know, I thought I covered everything, except for, tossing them in my downloads folder. I didn't think of that.....sheesh!

The two saved sims I left behind wasn't even the Sim I just created and cloned. I thought it was. Oh well....

I'll try popping them in my downloads folder and see what happens.

Thank you!

No problem.  Hope it works for you.  Usually the old "switcharoo" solves some of the issues with stubborn custom content/sims not showing up in-game.

Tenshii.....:love7:

Well, the two files that I had by date modified, wasn't even in the game.

Maybe I really am doing stupid things faster because of the coffee.

So, I put them in and started the game up, went to CAS, clicked Sim Bin and crashed. Then I took them out and everything was fine. Which leaves me wondering, the only Custom Content on the Sim, aside from the makeup was, an outfit I just downloaded from All About Style and a Peggy Donation hair that I somehow got but never used.

I'm trying to figure out, if I put the clone back in without the Peggy hair, if it'll work? Then, can you re-clone a clone?!!? The clone only has Maxis hair.

I'm soooooooooo confused........:)

:?  Tough one... usually when a sim's data gets corrupted, it's impossible to clone them, unless you have an active version in your game... then you can re-extract that sim and clone them again in Bodyshop.  If the custom content that was included on the sim never gave you any problems before, you'll definitely have to end up nixing the sim completely.  :(

OK.

I put the clone in and I had no problems. The Peggy hair kept on crashing my Sim Bin. This is the hair: Juice@hair0056.

I didn't try cloning the clone. I just left well enough alone.

So, I got to finish my project. YAHOO!!

Thank you, Tenshii :love7:
