Great to see the site rescued. Wonders what to do about all the empty threads left behind.

If you deleted before the back-up process began, most likely they'll be taken care of.  But if you waited sometime after the fact to delete them, they're still safe and in tact.  ;)

Curious to know if this new IS & ISA are PMBD friendly...as in can we mention it in posts now or use items from the booty in our lots, etc. Or will PMBD still be taboo?

I have been a member here for a while but never really felt like I would fit in. After watching everyone band together over all this I'm thinking I might possibly come around to post here every now and then.

I still can't believe what has happened here, but it was a real revolution! And although I don't understand (maybe because I'm German) the most of what these pirates write here (what does that mean: "...haz the site NAO"???), I fully appreciate the act of kicking the ar*** of this Walt-guy. I'm just a little pissed because I recently donated two times for Eric and Kathy, I thought they were at the edge of starving in the attempt of running these sites.

I mean doesn't that moron Walt own all this, can't he make an issue of this? Pirating pay sites is one thing(Love PMBD) But this is a whole website. I suppose this sort of thing does leave our ESL brethren and sisters a bit perplexed, when we begin playing games with language that disregard basic rules of grammer and syntax.

LOL is an internet chat abbreviation for Laugh Out Loud. The pictures on this site, most of them felines (nicknamed lolcats), have been given captions that use "creative" grammer and spelling. (The kind of grammer and spelling that would give your Language Arts teacher a headache.)

It's all in good fun . . . but I would imagine that it doesn't translate well.  ;D

No. Walt owns the domain name he bought and the server.  That is it.  Pescado was an admin on the old site and just backed everything up and moved it.  People were deleting their files and posts right and left, anyway.  It remains to be seen if Walt will do anything with the site now.  I still cannot access it.

I am but a lurker at PMBD, and I only lurked at the old insimenator, but I felt this occasion was reason enough to delurk briefly to say Thank you to Pescado, the admins, and the mods for taking the time to do this for us all, it means alot.

it's definitely not the same person - this is a 100% Walt free zone!! Currently the site is being hosted by Pescado who is also dealing with all the technical niceties of running a site whilst the staff, who are the same as on the old site, get familiar and confident with the new layout. We will be looking at moving to new servers as some point.

For now, just enjoy having our home back ;D

HUH  :o  I don't see how those numbers can be anywhere close to true.  The only product that can actually be considered Insim's (Walts) is the insimenator.  Now how many people actually believe that Eric would have updated that for a year?  Or offered ANY support for it going on from the purchase?  The only times it's been updated for, what, a year or so? is when they wanted more donations.

So consider advertising as the only income from it, donations will be nil if he gets it back up and running.  He will have to find artists willing to post their works there.  I'd think those sites are worth the server cost and the domain names now.  Advertising isn't worth much if nobody goes there.

We also need comments like that to be less, not more. Just because you don't care for something doesn't mean that other members agree. Some of us happen to like lolcats, such as the man that hosts us.

Are there still threads waiting to be restored? I had one in Requests/Genetics/Hair a week or two before the shutdown, and I noticed that entire board is empty now and my post history is empty as well.

I'm not sure what could have happened, but some stuff had to be deleted to conserve on server space. I guess when we say we're getting a fresh start, in some areas that means literally. So, go ahead and post it again for someone to read, ok? Thanks for being so patient with us while we get the place up and going and for sticking with us! You've all been really great during this time!

Well, there are people who don't like the over-use of image macros (I'm one of them). I'm all for an amusing lolcat here and there, but unlike MATY or PMBD, we don't need them spammed in every other post.

If I see that starting to happen here, I will start to delete them.

If they want a macro-thread, that ought to appease the worst of them. I was objecting to the language used more so than a dislike of lolcats.

I just recently found out about the all the drama that happened to the site, and I'm pretty disappointed that the old insim is no more. Though I do feel relieved that the site was rescued, it still feels bittersweet to me.

Now I've actually been disinterested in TS2 and the site for a long time now, but I was interested for an even longer time. I pretty much grew up with this site for a few years, so I have lots of fond memories with insim; I still have a deep connection with this place. But now, even with the forum back, everything feels completely different, and not just because of the new forum software. And I still have to wonder, will we ever get to see Kathy and Eric again? Why are they banned from this forum? Will the insim ever get updated again, for the sims 3 even?
I really wish I knew. They were very nice, loyal people. Everybody knew them. They were everyone's friends. They were my friends. Why have some people suddenly turned their backs on them?
Anyways, would appreciate if someone could enlighten me on this whole situation, I'm just really distressed about this and could use some clarification.

But still, thanks to everyone who helped save the site and preserved what's left of my precious memories. :)

Kathy and Eric sold the site without a word to anyone to someone who offered them the most money.  From figures they posted on the site where they found said buyer, they had been making a good profit for years, all off of our donations.  I'm betting they will never be back.

It's quite obvious they weren't really anyone's friends, or else they wouldn't have done this the way they did.  And I really doubt Insim will ever be updated again, at least not by Eric.

Probably not, but Blender do pretty good, and combined with InSim they handle just about everything, don't know what will happen with the new Mansions & Gardens, which is really a mini-EP, not a true SP. Ah well, for anyone interested, there is now an AL InTeenimater beta and TJ is looking for testers - http://www.simbology.com/smf/index.php/topic,2496.0.html - just be sure to back up your neighborhood and read the doc. I think TJ would appreciate any feedback. It is already up to release c, correcting bugs as it goes.

Kathy and Eric are money-grubbing back-stabbers that lied to everyone in the community. If a better modder takes on the InSIM, so be it. I'm sorry you feel confused, but a lot more of us feel betrayed and angry. And if you think they were friends to anyone other than their bankbooks, you never knew a damn thing about them.

If either one of them dared showed their names, there would be a pixel linching.  They sold the site out to the highest bidder, who then wanted to draw a paycheck off our donations.  Kathy and Eric were only frauds, not anyone's friend.

Haven't been around for a few weeks and I must say I was completely confused by what I saw. I did know the site had "changed owner", but I missed everyhting that happened since. Now, after reading everything here, including the links (thanks Roxy), the picture is clear! I'm still a bit shocked, but also very happy that the site is saved!

With a new site, there will be growing pains. If we're all patient and understanding the mods/admins can get things back to something that feels more 'normal' to the rest of us. I don't envy you guys that job.

These past few weeks I had been pretty confused what on earth happened to one of my favourite sims2 sites. I had read Walt's first post, and parts of the thread that followed it. When I went back to read more of it a few hours later, I couldn't connect to insim anymore.  Until yesterday, I had no idea what was going on. I feared that Walt may have disliked the critiques so much that he pulled the plug on the entire site. :confused:

Then I found this site, and learned what had happened... :eek:

I'm SO happy to have this site back! A HUGE  1fanku to all those who made it possible that this site came out of that horrible situation relatively unharmed. 1praise I'm thrilled that these amazing people were able & willing to rescue the site!

Another lurker has finally found his way back.
I was soooooo distressed a few weeks back to see InSim implode the way it did.  I have enjoyed for several years the creative collaborations of this community.  Even when I did not care for the style, just to watch the interplay as one would come up with a new mesh and then several others would adapt that into a project.

Whoa I was sooo surprised to find nothing going on at the old site and eventually after much hairpulling and searching found the new site. 

I read the saga of the whole takeover and luv the way that Walt got screwed. 

Pescado you and the other "pirates" did an awesome job and I might just post more often now.   

BTW my teenage son's new favourite word is "kermitflailing".

So, I've been gone for almost a year, was surprised to find insim down ALL the time and then the lovely Tenshii Akari directed me here. I was worried though after reading that PMBD thread (the first 12 pages) that insim had gone slimey! I thought this was the slimy version. I'm so glad to know that it's not. That was a great move mirroring the site. Only the greatest would think of something like that.  :cool:

Well, at the MOMENT, there is only ONE version, what with Walt's version going KABLOOEY under the weight of his kermitflailing.

Makes me want to bring in a Miss Piggy to chase him around and give him karate chops.

I've been reading through the miles-long thread on phorum.mustnotbenamed for three days now. I missed all the drama and it is quite astonishing but it makes ya think....

Anyhoo I just wanted to say, thank you all very very much, specially Pescado, for all the work you have done and for your sheer integrity!
This place (well, insimadult)has always been one of my web-homes as in, a website I usually check once a day to see what's new and I found I missed it terribly when it went down.

well unfortunately the nasty business of money will have to be raised however what Kathy demanded for a month will actually keep the site going for 6 months - so go figure where all of it was going?!

I'm very happy to see that your site is still up. I was sad and very very confused when I went to search for it one day and found a simple add on the page giving links to go to for the sims 2. My computer had crashed a few months ago, and so I lost everything because of a stupid worm... :( But again happy to see that your  back.. :) ;D ;)

Well guys i haven't been to the site in a long time...and i was shocked when i kept trying and i couldn't get to it...it just didn't make sense why the site would have closed down so i started searching around on the other sites and i forget whose finally brought me here but i am so relieved that it still exists and i can enjoy reading and looking at all the wonderful things fellow simmers create....
there is other sites out there that are ok...but imo none compare to this site and all it offers...i'm am truly grateful to all who helped keep it together and all those who are working to continue it's success....
It's sad when someone has to use and abuse something or someone...it makes it so hard to know who and what you can trust...i hope the future of this site will stay intact and the good will always prevail....Thank you all once again...BEV 2hug

I've only just noticed all of this, I've been away from the community - and I'm glad you're back. I still am not, and to be perfectly honest - I'm not thrilled to know that the donations I made in the past went into Kathy and Eric's pockets.

Good for you, Kiri. Sometimes we get burned in life, but ya have to just jump back in. This site keeps a meter on the home page showing how much has been collected and how much is needed each month.
