Post by: simpleprincess on December 16, 2008, 06:19:17 am
My computer is a dell case put together.

windows xp service pack 2

intel pent4  2.8 ghz
ram 1 gig
80 gb hard drive.

51. 8 free space left.

minimum spec graphics card. [ hoping to get a good one this week]

I have every EP installed.
Every single stuff pack known to man including festive  holiday EXCEPT mansion and garden.

downloads are about 1.79 kb or gb to 2 gb or kb not sure which it is.

It is twice as much as much as my old computer with near enough the same amount of stuff
it is sooooo slow.

I just purchased teen style too now.

After you get your new graphics card, see if you have the same problem. The new card may make a big difference.

See if you can get more RAM, too. At least 2 gig for running Sims 2.

Ill ask the computer man who put it together, see if he can add another gig.
I hope to get a new card too.

Good plan. I'd recommend 512 mb on the graphics card if you can, at least 256 mb to run the game.

Also run the game on the lowest settings possible.  Turning off reflection helps a lot with performance.  Make sure any anti-spyware program is not running because I use spyware doctor and I have to disable it when I play the game.  Downloads alone take a lot of space also, so the more you have especially custom clothes, hair, and walls, the slower the game will run.  Hopefully Sims 3 will have better performance than Sims 2 has had.  If you really want good performance, you could play Sims 1.  It works well with lower memory computers.

Also, in the ongoing day-to-day simming, try to defrag your hard drive at least once a month, it takes a long time to do but it is definitely worth it in the run-time arena.
