Title: Shhh!
Post by: LibraryGuy on January 07, 2009, 10:50:33 pm
Okay, yeah, I had to say it. Yes, I work in a library, and yes, I'm a guy. I've also started wading into the world of Sims CC, and I gotta say, this community is full of wonderful, funny, creative, nice, generous people. You all are a pleasure to be around. It's so great being a part of the IS gang.
Wow, doncha feel all warm 'n fuzzy? I know I do.
Now put down the computer and go read a book!

Hi LibraryGuy, sage advice.

Thanks. Sage advice that I should heed myself. Ever since I got hooked on Sims, then on Sims CC, then on the Sims CC community (here especially) my reading has gone waaaay down.
I just figured that, you know, working in a library and all, I should encourage these young people to read more...

Oh, I agree. I used to be a voracious reader, but that was pre-sims, LOL, a common affliction, I think.

I'm right there with you about reading.  My time reading has also taken a nose dive post-Sims.  I used to go to a little "mom and pop" book exchange and fill a grocery bag with books every 2 weeks.  We went to the library every week.  I read a post from some poor soul that said, "I want my life back!"
It's an addiction, but hey - I'm having fun.

My reading has gone way down too.  I used to read 2 novels a week or more but now it's like one a month.  I did read the whole Twilight series in 4 days.

Hey, again - question:  How come I'm a Lurker?  BTW I'm in the very soggy NW, also.

Yeah very soggy Northwest. At least we're not anywhere near the flooding, though a lot of supplies aren't getting through to the local markets.
My daughter and I share one computer, so when it's her turn (or it's not, but she annoys me into letting her on) I can get some reading in between housework tasks. Though I've been reading this latest one for oh, two-three weeks now! I miss my old commuting days, when I could read 3 or 4 books a week.

No, it's not an addiction...I can quit anytime I-wait, gotta go check updates.

Yeah! I'm not a Lurker any more.  Thank goodness my son finally broke down and got his own computer.  He got tired of my "withdrawal" symptoms whenever he used "our" computer.  Library Guy, I think your daughter has learned well.

It really works out well though. When she's on the computer I either clean the place or read a book...

Hi and welcome to the club of Sims2 addicts. My daughter and I share the gaming computer and when she occupies the seat in front of it I can't seem to get to cleaning the place or reading a book.  I then get behind my business pc and instead of doing something useful I start downloading CC!! I'm way behind on schedule with everything that isn't Sims2. Know of any place where they cure this addiction?  1blink
But it's great fun though  1yay

Simlin55, if you find a cure, I'm sure the developers will be happy for you to share.   It keeps me out of trouble most of the time.
Here's to all Simaholics everywhere. Peace - (sorry, old flower child from the 60's) Nonni

Hello and welcome, from someone who spends entirely too much time in libraries and doesn't even have the excuse of working there.  ;)

"Too much time in libraries." I'm not sure I understand the phrase...is such a thing possible?

Well, to me, no. But to the people who know me? Yes.

You just tell them that libraries are the safe quiet places where the ingredients of dreams are made. Hey, I like that. Let's put it on a t-shirt.
Seriously, libraries are about the best places to spend too much time. No TV, no danger, supervised, and full of books. We love having (semi-respectable, mostly sane, recently washed) people hanging out in our libraries. Unless they're those guys with the laptops who're looking at porn, but hey, what're you gonna do?

LOL ...

Libraries are the best place to be, I agree with you there. My dream job is to be a librarian. I'm just that much of a dork.

Anyway ... I'm off to the library.  ;)

Wait, librarian=dork?  Have you seen this: http://www.libraryunderground.org/weirdness.htm

I wasn't necessarily referring to librarians as dorks, moreso myself as a dork for not having a more fanciful dream job, like an actor or ... a pony.  ;)

Hey Naria, have you seen this:

It's the adult Library career! How cool is that?

Post by: Naria on January 23, 2009, 10:34:03 pm
Yes, I have. It's awesome, isn't it? If I ever make a self sim, it's definitely the career I'm choosing. But I get so side tracked playing fantasy Sims that I never get to choose that career in game ... although, I suppose I could have medieval librarians. lol.

Yeah, they'd start out mixing the ink for the scribes.  Hey, that's not a bad idea! Ink mixer, quill sharpener, paper masher, 2nd Junior Assistant Scribe, 1st Junior, Junior Scribe, Scribe, Guy Who Looks Over Scribe's Backs (Editor for short), Bookbinder, Bookseller, Person Who Gets Books (a la The Dumas Club), Person Who Shushes, and then all the library positions all the way up to Royal Keeper of Scrolls and Tomes and Books and Stuff.

Library Guy, long time...
That Library site looks really keen. However,
I am afraind of downloading because the first time I did it, it was for infant clothes.  Now my infants no longer have even a diaper - totally naked.  I want to bang my head against the wall, if it wasn't so funny I would cry.
Nonni
PS. The infants are generic, boys and girls look the same without their diaper.

Wow-have you checked your EAGames/TheSims2/Downloads folder? If it's in there you should be able to take it out and that'd at least give the poor kids (and your floors) a break.

Fumbling around I have been able to dress my infants.  Of course, you can do only one outfit for all.
My latest mission is to bring the "hardluck" Broke family into financial and social success.  My teen grew up well and became quite a philanthropist.  Very proud of him.
