Title: Mail Problems(issues)
Post by: Care on January 28, 2009, 07:27:31 pm
I have received a couple private messages, but when I go to reply to them or even send one myself I get this issue?
Anyone else having this issue or is it just me and how do I/we get it fixed?
Thank you

This happened to me yesterday, as well.

Fun, eh? We're aware of this problem, and are still trying to figure out what's causing it. This problem seems to be affecting only certain users. One can't send them PMs, and can't even find them in the user database. Suffice it to say, they still exist!

...either that, or we're seeing things due to whatever Ali spiked the water supply with. :P

The issue is being looked into. I am one of those affected by the problem as well when people can't find me to reply or send to via PM.  :(

Did someone say something? I swore I heard something, but I can't see anything! *is spooked*

Yeah, it's just the wind in your ears, Jenna.

In them, or between them? And the Kool-Aid is fine this time, kids, but the coffee I'm not so sure about.

Yep, a few people are experiencing it. Anyone you see showing up in the members' list you should be able to send a pm to, but there seem to be a few existing members who can access the site fine, but can't get messages because the database isn't recognizing they're a member. It's weird. Sola's one of these ghosts. LOL

Hm, it seems that I am one of these ghosts as well. I tried sending a PM and I got that lovely error message. I just tried searching for myself, and I do not exist! Funny, because last time I checked, I'm right here! Hah.

Well, hopefully this problem is resolved soon. Until then, I can handle being a ghost. *Sneaks up behind Jenna and spooks her. Floats away giggling*

Looks like I'm a ghost, too. I hadn't planned on it happening quite this soon, but what the hey!

If anyone could slay that dragon, it would be he. *returns to crypt*

Yay! We're back from the dead now! Although, being a ghost was kind of fun. I like walking through walls. -Sigh. Heh.

Thanks!

My plot's foiled!! I planned to float through Jenna's basement and steal her cache of stolen mods for Mr. Squinge.

Back to the drawing board...

Heh, I wanted to float into Jenna's basement just to see what else she's hiding in there! And maybe steal some of her booze....

On a more serious note: I just sent a PM, and although it said it sent, it does not show up in my outbox. I'm waiting to see if the person replies....Can the outbox get too full, like the inbox? Maybe that's all it was. I had a ton of messages in that thing!  :p

EDIT: Nevermind, my friend replied. It seems to be working fine. I guess the outbox was just full or something!  :D

Actually, your outgoing messages don't automatically get saved to your outbox. You have to do one of two things. If you don't want to save every message you send, then just click the box by "Save a copy in my outbox" (just under and to the left of the edit box you enter your outgoing text in) when you type a message you know you'll want to keep a copy of. If you want to automatically save all your outgoing messages, go into your profile, and under where it says "Modify Profile, select "Personal Message Options", and make sure the box beside "Save a copy of each Personal Message in my outbox by default" is checked :D

Oh. Ha! Okay, thanks Joy. This is the first PM I've sent since the old site...Did it automatically save them there? I don't remember having to check a box to save them...

Yeah on the old site outgoing pm's were saved. Having said that, the old site and this one were using different software.

On the old site, everything was saved. I'm glad that's not the case with the new one. Hah.

No kidding. box can really get cluttered. What is the limit so that we know when to delete old stuff?

I ran the DB maintenance. Let me know if this still happens.
