Title: Death & Simoleans
Post by: rwills on February 13, 2009, 09:19:06 pm
In all my game play, have not yet had a Sim die, but one is now 84 in Sim age, so obviously will be shuffling off soon.

I presume any items in that Sim's backpack (other than deeds) will vanish at death. Correct?

Mostly curious as to whether the apres-death insurance payout amounts are in any way calculated relative to the gross value of items in the backpack at time of death.

Any items inventoried are lost.
The "insurance" is a fixed max depending on relationship.  Spouse gets 20k, children get 10k, and friends get 500 or maybe 1k.  But those numbers are based on near max STR/LTR.  As relationship starts to drop, payout drops also.

And if you don't want your Sim doling out "insurance money" upon his or her death, you can always try a mod to prevent the families and friends from getting free money.
