This career has 10 levels, with chance cards on each level.

Will not overwrite other careers.

There are no elder or teen versions of the career at this time.

These are the career outfits for levels 3-8.  Without them, your Sim will just stay in their regular clothes to go to work on those levels

The clothing for levels 1, 2, 9 and 10 were made by me, they're recolours of a Maxis mesh and included in the zip file.  

One final word about the clothing: It's for adults only on levels 1 - 8; on levels 9 and 10 it will work for adults or elders.

This career is intended for female Sims, though technically it's possible to give it to males, but the clothing won't work.  

To install: Unzip the files to a folder called geishacareer, or something similar.  Add Chriko's clothing files to that folder, then put the folder in your Sims 2 downloads folder. The career should then show up in your game.

Please read the .txt file included in the zip for more information on the career.

Most custom careers that were updated for University have been working ever since.  I have all three expansions, but not FFS.

Does it work with the base game?

I'm not sure about that.  If other careers that are EP compatible work with the base game, then this one will too, but I actually don't know.

if you make the first three teen and the last three elder, you can add something about being a featured dancer or something to make up the 6 lost spots. i dunno. or a teacher at the school.

When you make teen and elder careers you don't need to use up the extra spots because those careers are designed with only three levels.  The problem is, you can't make a career that's only for elders or only for teens, a "teen/elder career" is available to both.  Plus I haven't found kimonos for teens.  With this adult career though elders can definitely have it if they get it as adults, the outfits on the top two levels work for elders too so hopefully your Sims will be transitioning to elder right around the time they get to okaasan and obaasan.  :)

Quax, yes, I'm afraid the career is only in English.  I'm not sure what I'd have to do to make it work for all language versions of the game.  I'll look into that, it might be a matter of just checking an option in the career editor.

I had another look at your career, and noticed it wasn't language enabled. However, I updated the file so now English will appear in all game versions, instead of the base career text.

Thanks, Superfly!  Could you explain to me how to do that for future reference?  I looked around the tutorials at MTS2 but I didn't see any specific info on language enabling.

In bidou's editor, there should be a drop-down menu called 'Languages'. Click on it and select English Only. Close the editor and save. All other language strings will be wiped, so the career will appear in all languages in English.

I love this career!  I'm up to Independent Geisha right now and I haven't had any problems with it and I don't have any of the expansion games.  Thank you so much for making this job, it's the perfect one for my in-game Inara (I've created a Firefly-themed neighborhood.)

Hi! i got it and WOW. I have a geisha legacy so this works wonderfully, and i would like to mention that there are teen kimono's on the sims2exhannge, so i guess you could get them there ^^;

I have University and Night life and did not experienced any problems; my sim got to the top!  The kimonos are gorgeous!

Hey this is great. I liked the film Diary of a Geisha too.

I think this is fantastic, I have looked through 2~for~u and found the meshes but can't locate the kimonos.  Do you know which page I can find them on?  I thought I hit all pages, maybe I missed one?  anyhoo... thanks so much.  I am really excited to play it.

This is going to go perfect with my sayuri character from memoirs of a geisha excellent book and movie btw. I am having problems on the website to get textures and mesh the pages wont show up but i will keep tryin.

I'M on lvl 4 and when she went to work she had on regular clothes , I checked i did download the meshes from that site so not sure why they didnt show up. Other than that no problems and I only have base game.
Edit. Silly me didnt  realize that i had to click each picture to get those textures. Forgive a sim noob for being so naive.

I have had this career ingame for a bit and finally got the sense to come and thank you for it!  I have had no problems with it at all, the clothes and gift are just as they should be.  Thanks!

hey! since i'm italian i've got the italian version of the game, and the geisha-job doesn't come up:( Is it a problem if careers and games are in different languages? I have the eps nightlife and university. Thank you for your attention;):rabbit:

I have all expansion & stuff packs (including Kitchen & Bath), and this career does not work properly. Everything's fine until they go to work - but ~20min after work starts, they instantly appear in a sitting-in-car position in the middle of the lot, and jump into a starting position. Since they never return in a vehicle, they can never get paid or promoted.

This happens even when these files are the only custom content, and it does not happen with the Maxis careers. Ideas?

Custom careers are a like any mod...they rely heavily on code existing in the game used when the career was made. That same code can be changed by later eps, rendering the career incompatible with aforementioned later eps. As with any hack, it's advisable to remove carreers until the creator can confirm they are compatible with later eps.

Hello ! I've alittle problem with your donate : it doesn't apear in my game ! I've this expansions : Nightlife,University and Pets. Could you help me please?

This career should be working with all expansion packs up to and including Free Time. I don't really know much about custom careers except how to make them, but basically they are just base careers with different text, so therefore they should never be rendered unusable by any new expansion pack.  I have all expansions and stuff packs up to date and the Geisha career works for me, as do all other custom careers I have made by me and other modders.  

I do remember after the installation of one expansion pack, I believe it was BV, I had the jump bug myself with this career, but it turned out something else was causing it not the career itself.  I'll go through the archives of various sites I post on to see if I can find the solution to my own problem. :)

Sayurii-San, I think this should show up as long as you have University but it's possible it needs some other expansion pack.  To be absolutely sure try using the Insimenator or Monique's computer to choose a career for Sim, then all the careers in your game will show up.  You can also turn on the boolprop cheat and shift+click on a newspaper to choose from all the careers.

The web for meshes moved somewhere, could anyone give me an URL to the page what includes the meshes for kimonos?

When you get to the site a popup box will appear telling you the software is not registered, just click okay and then follow the rest of the directions for getting the meshes.

Okay, so it seems no one else is helping anyone here... I do hope I'll get some help.

I downloaded the very first dress needed fine, but I seemed to have gotten lucky with that.. The main site moved, so I can't for the life of me locate any of the other kimono's needed on it's new page.  And I can't find any of the clothes half these people are talking about.

Could someone please link me to the proper outfits, or post them here yourself?  It would be really appreciated since my little maiko just started as a junior Maiko and she's wearing that ugly pink outerwear instead of a kimono.

Please someone help me out here, it's a wonderful career that I'm thrilled to have, but it would be even better if the clothes worked properly!

You know since this thread is nearly 3 years old some of the stuff is going to be difficult to find.

You are not loking very hard because I found both of them no problem. The meshes are on page 19 of the female Adult Casual Fashions. You need the first and fourth files: ie.

I saw this career about 6 months ago. I was not impressed. Too many geisha levels that are the same. I am using some of the kimono meshes found on BV and recoloring them, I am also using the meshes found on the website and recoloring them. The Geisha Career I am slowly working on; because of the lack of time I have to work on it, and waiting to find someone to design a career reward object (wanting a shamisen.) But I hope to have it up soon.

If you look at post #73 it tells you the right meshes. This is an abondoned item so it is unlikely that the creator is still around.

I hunted out the meshes and textures.

Google is good for you. Go to the Sims2Graveyard, click on 2forU, and you'll be taken to the available downloads. There's a good chance they're there.

I don't get how to get the textures? I have all the files as in packages - downloads from 2forU - and would love to play this career. Someone further up in the thread said something about clicking on the pictures. Of course the site is gone and the pictures are no more.
