Title: A little friendly warning for you all...
Post by: SimGirl20 on April 15, 2009, 10:30:00 pm
Hi Guys,

I  just thought I would share my scare with you all today so please don't let this thread go un-noticed and please heed my warning when I tell you to STAY AWAY from this praticular lot over at TSR

I was looking for a sweet alien home for my alien/vampire hybrid Naria and I didn't see anything that really grabbed my attention at MTS2 so I thought I would give TSR a shot and I found and downloaded this lot..

http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims2-lots-residential-fantasy/title/The%20Centauri/id/723902/

I was at first thinking woah what a neat lot so I put it in my downloads and was pretty physced to furnish it for my sims but then I noticed the problem almost immediatley after putting that in, first my game took almost 15 minutes for the opening movie to come up and play and froze and skipped almost all the way through which I thought was weird but I didn't think anything about it, and THEN I went into the lot and prepared to furnish it I noticed straight away that some of the furnishing that I KNOW I had the EP for was blue so I was thinking okay maybe it was a bad recolor or something so I went to start putting stuff in and thats when it hit me..NONE of my objects had any recolor options!! not even objects associated with game EP's such as the barstools in BV to the Club Distress Sofas in the Base Game! I was shocked to find out that even after exiting the lot knowing then that the lot had some kind of really bad hack attached to it that Clean Installer DID NOT pick up  I went to an empty lot which took another additional 20 minutes to open just a blank template and found that the problem presists so I knew it was more than likely that lot so I went out and deleted it from my folder and out of my recycle bin and went back in the game and everything seemed to be back to normal so what I am trying to say is PLEASE don't download that lot especially if your like me and download gobs and gobs of stuff at one time and copy and paste like 30 items into your downloads folder :p I think I just got lucky thinking it could be that lot because I downloaded a bunch of hacks and everything last night..

Glad you seem to have gotten rid of the problem. Hope it stays that way. And thanks for the warning.

I was looking for a sweet alien home for my alien/vampire hybrid Naria

 Did I get an alien/vampire named after me?

This is the same website that was taking creators content or something too?

This could be just a weird coincidence but my game have been having random crashing and after I noticed that the creator who's house you donloaded is Laivine_erunyauve, it got me thinking. You see, I have the same creators "The Isla", "The Seabrook" and "Azura Beach Resort" in my game. I deleted them from the LotCatalog just a few minutes ago, just in case. Who knows, maybe they are causing that random crashing. :-\

That's what freaks me out. Glad you were able to catch it in time, though.

Maybe it was just one of those harmless water marks.  ;)

That's exactly why I don't get anything from T$R

Sierra- I would not trust any creations by Laivine_erunyauve theres something weird about all her lots I was looking through her feedback on some 'really' nice lots and there have been alot of people to download but not say much about it and to me thats weird its like TSR has locked any complaints in her blog because I replied and told her that her lot was corrupted and warned other users not to download it, and looking at her lots feedback tonight I can see that the slimey a******s on TSR has deleted my warning..?? :-X there has also been reports that content bought from TSR and uploaded via the booty are carrying viruses but I think that might be exaggeration on others parts because I download a crap load of stuff from TSR because I oppose paysites and haven't noticed anything except that one bad hack attached to that lot from any content downloaded from TSR via the booty but I would definitely take her creations out Sierra because your game could very well be crashing because of her creations I wouldn't take it as a coincidence I would take it seriously...

Kinnika- Now you tell me why in the heck did Clean Installer not pick that up in that lot? because anything I ever download I install with CI and it ALWAYS tells me if something is suspicious..so that makes me wonder what TSR is really shoving in those downloads for the general public! which they get revenue off of US to even upload and some of the stuff on there doesn't look as nice as what its depicted in screenshots which make me pretty mad but I will NEVER give TSR one red cent even if I did have the money to waste!

LONG LIVE THE BOOTY! Argghh!

That's too bad. It amazes me she won an award for that lot. And to see your complaint deleted. That would p#@% me off, too.

Well, exactly - that's why it freaks me out. Guess I'll take precautions when I'm thinking about going there, even for free content. Course, I never pay for any CC.

Well, lots are off the game. I think I'm going to check the CC of those lots with clean installer just in case, even though she seems to use only maxis content in them, except one floor. If she uses only maxis content, I really wonder what this mysterious "part" in them could be and why it can't be seen. Odd. Maybe she uses that boolProp changeFloorElevation cheat a bit too much in her houses and corrupts them that way. ;D

Oh, and the deletion of your feedback... even more odd but then again, nothing new from TSR.

Also, I read that you shouldn't compress any TSR content with the Compressorizer, or you could get problems. Apparently TSR have some type of compressorizer of their own. Not sure if this is true, though. :-\

Compresorizing messes with their little watermark mal-ware, from what I understand. Also, there's a new flap on TSR; one of their so-called creators ripped off the mesh from another creator and this time, it was one of our own: Corrine. Needless to say, people are not happy about this at all.

Paden,
Can I copy/paste your post about this new incident on S2C, please?

Sure, feel free. The more people that know about this, the better chance there is of her mesh coming off of that hole...

unfortunately I doubt it, from what I'm reading, all the comments about the mesh and it not respecting Corinne's TOU and that is should be removed are just being deleted

Ali, I don't care what they do over there at TSR. The people are hopelessly unethical. What matters to me is to inform as many people as possible for two reasons: a) the community to see what's going with the supposed artists (artists my a@%!) of TSR and, b) to make people wake up and realise where they go and give their and their parents' money.  If I can achieve even 1% of that, it is a good cause for me.

I am sick and tired!

Paden Thank you!

Yeah she did use boolprop constrain elevation true in that lot I downloaded she specifically said in her lot description that any kind of alteration to the lot will corrupt it if one does not have knowledge of the cheat she used which I do not but heres the thing I didn't do anything to the lots elevation ie. flatten or build walls or nothing like that I just wanted to see what the floorplan looked like and when I zoomed in I could see that chez-moi counters (from the basegame mind you were blue!) so I was like okay somethings wrong and then I seen that none of my objects had any secondary color choices so maybe it was indeed the cheat she used because it seems to me she used it excessively to create the lot and heres the weird part it says in her lot desc. that she used no CC all clean installer picked up was the picture of the lot nothing else! so either the cheat corrupted the lot and the game since it was in my downloads folder and the glitch was visible even on another lot or she somehow hid the hack in her lot and CI didn't pick it up which seems a little much considering CI will more than or is 'supposed' to pick up anything in a lot walls, floors, recolors, objects, hacks etc etc. well I know I won't be downloading any more of her lots, I also don't use the compressorizer I never could get it to download for me over at DJ's so maybe thats a good thing also about a creator ripping off Corrine I think thats bull s**t I don't think TSR should allow creations to be put on the website let along sold if the person who said they 'created' it didn't create it at all! I've seen alot of stuff on there that I know I have seen elsewhere liek for example I can't remember if it was Jirka or ChazDesigns but one of them uploaded a DitaVon Tesse and if you go to Stefans' website and look at his Dita you can't tell any difference whatsoever! Jirka or Chaz totally ripped her off from Stefan! and I think which I'm not sure this is just me making an observation but I think Jirka and Chaz uses photoshop to photoshop models faces onto the sims to make it seem like they used the sliders and CC to make some of the celebs they upload like have you seen the new Christina A. on there?! I mean c'mon she is so photoshopped no-one can get a sim to look that realistic 1blink

Oh, they photoskin the crap out of their stuff, that's the only way they can make those sims.

There is an ongoing thread about the stealing on S2C as well. The thread is located here:
http://forums.sims-community.com/showthread.php?p=1344843#post1344843

Interstingly enough, you will find the post that CatOfEvilGenius started at BBS about this issue, which is no longer there: Maxoids DELETED it!

Personally, I don't want ANYONE to tell me anything concerning EAxis' ToS from now on. A company that doesn't respect their own rules doesn't deserve my respect either.

A little off subject but does anyone else hard drive activity Spike when that log onto TSR? Like tsr look at files, that never happens here or on any other sim sites..

I thought that was weird, but I didn't connect my RAM usage going up with visiting TSR.

They really suck. (just had to get that out my system)

I realize it's hard to think up new creations when you are pushed to create MOAR! (hear the whip crack)  Stealing meshes is not the way to go.  Shoot, I am having my own issues with them making 2 of my lots subscriber only and I used free content to make them. Wrote them about it and haven't heard back yet.  :-\

Running out of ideas has never been a reason good enough to steal somebody's work. In fact, there is no reason at all except to state what a bloody b%#*@$d you are.

It's like this TSR doesn't give a flying f**k what you, me, she, he, they, them or any other person likes or thinks or feels they are strictly in it for the moolah its a vicious cycle but do you really think they give a damn about our feelings and our TOU's? No Way! and I feel like its going to get a whole lot worse when TS3 is released. I mean can you imagine how many kids are going to bug mommy and daddy for your credit cards just so they can get that cool new house or car for their Sims for TS3 when the game finally releases and TSR's so called 'Featured Artist' start making their bull s**t CC and make TSR another thousand a month? I just hope EVERYONE & I mean EVERYONE starts reading some of the crap I've read about TSR and their lame, photoshopped, mesh stealing CC and realize that BOOTY is the way to go, I mean why would someone want to sell Custom Content? I understand that it may take a while to make a set and some people may really put their heart into their projects but it still exists that TS2 is and will forever be a GAME that is supposed to be fun and FREE for everyone, I mean if you want to make money go get a job for gods sake, stop swindiling people out of their hard earned cash but theres another fact that I love and am just estatic when I see another 'hard worked featured artists 'creations' posted on the BOOTY it just does my heart good knowing that PSMBD is making TSR cry :'( and theres NOTHING they can do about it Muahahaha oh I love it! lol sorry about all that but I do think its funny that TSR and everyother paysite but mostly TSR is getting screwed ha! is that wrong for me to think that :-\

Why not go one step further and not even get it off the booty.  Bad CC is bad whether you pay for it or got it off a share-friendly site.  There's plenty of free sites where you can get good things and you're allowed to ask for help with it if you have problems.  I bet they'd even accept constructive criticism.

Title: Re: A little friendly warning for you all...
Post by: SimGirl20 on April 19, 2009, 12:59:26 am
well its just the point that if more people get their CC from TSR via the Booty that TSR will be loosing even more money and maybe one of these days their website will even shut completley down because of lack of funds to run the site or maybe (in another life-time) that TSR will learn the errors of their ways and make all CC free and ban any 'featured artists' but that may very well never be but if more people get involved with the booty whether it be bad cc or what have you atleast they know they didn't have to pay jack to TSR to enjoy it in their game I mean why would you want to buy the milk when you can get the cow for free? :p

I really had not noticed that before so I just tried to go to their site and check it out. I can't get the page to load at all.

Either the site is down or they are blocking my ip address. Is anyone else having trouble getting to their site?

If the site is down then that could be a very good thing.

Edit: I tried again with internet explorer since I have firefox proxied and still can't get to the page. I can ping their site just fine though but that doesn't really mean a whole lot.

I have just tried it, although I hate visiting their site since my computer gets slower and there are warnings about my setting not allowing ActiveX. Ha! Anyway, their web page won't open no matter what. So it's not just you Zordac.

Thanks Nalia I don't visit T$R either but I thought Brat's post was worth the effort. Maybe they are down. One can only hope. B.t.w. if anyone is interested I found a really nice house maker on MTS2 named  intel1937  (http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=1072208). They are making a homes across America series. If anyone is interested I highly recommend checking them out.

Thank you, Zordac for the link. I'm aware of intel1937's creations. I also like squeam's ( http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=392407 (http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=392407) ) small houses for anyone who's interested.

TSR is one evil site. I haven't been there in a while and will never go there again! I heard EA is in bed with them too. I hope they both get a STD from each other.

Just why EA. have tolerated those scumbags at TSR. for so long even with their blatant violation of the sims 2 EULA we will never know, however by doing so, they (EA) put themselves in the same category.
So to my way of thinking that also makes EA. low down untrustworthy scum and not worth dealing with.
