Post by: nobody7382 on June 07, 2009, 12:47:18 am
1omg  Better locations for eating

* Requires     : The Sims 2 (base game)
* Compatibility: The Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open For Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Store Edition, FreeTime, Apartment Life, Mansion & Garden Stuff, all Stuff Packs
* Modifications: Semi-Global (affects all food dishes, chinese food) and Global (affects certain attempts to sit down - only for food, unless custom content or other hacks are using the hacked Global)
* Hack Version#: 1.0

Quick Info
~~~~~~~~~~
* You must also download the following addon(s) for this hack to work correctly:
  df_game_edition_addon.package
  http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=94482 (http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=94482)
  df_globals_pack.package (version 1.1 or higher)
  http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=94483 (http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=94483)
This hack is a replacement for "Eat at neighbor's apartment (http://www.insimenator.org/index.php/topic,104862.0.html)", which is now discontinued.  All of the features of that older hack are included in this one, along with many new features.  It no longer requires Apartment Life, now giving features even as far back as the base game.  But it now requires 2 of my addons.
The hack forces Sims to choose more realistic locations to eat their food.  It prevents them from wandering far distances just to sit at a specific table.  So now your Sims won't walk 10,000 feet up 4 floors to the far corner of the roof, if that is the only place where a table can be found that's not in-use.
By default, it does the following (most of which can be customized or disabled):
- For food located within an apartment, forces the food to be eaten inside of that apartment.  This means that Sims are not allowed to take the food out to communal areas.  They must find a place to eat within the current apartment, or else they will have to eat standing up within that apartment.  Food located in communal areas is not affected by this feature.
- The feature above does allow a Sim to eat in a neighbor's apartment, instead of taking the food all the way back to their own apartment to eat in solitude like a weirdo.  This lets your Sims enjoy a meal with a neighbor at that neighbor's apartment, instead of "stealing" a plate and running back home to eat it.
- For all lots, will only choose eat locations that are 15 or less tiles away.  If no chairs are available within that distance or if all of them are in-use, then the Sims will eat while standing up.
The hack will work for all eating interactions of Maxis objects such as Serve a Meal, Grab a Plate, Get Leftovers, Pizza & Chinese Takeout eating, Get Snacks from Fridge, etc.  It should work for most custom objects too, except for ones cloned from the Maxis Chinese Takeout boxes (single servings).
* Check out the readme.txt file for more information.
I believe this has broken the food in my game. I downloaded it from MTS yesterday and ran my game today with it in. I was playing a regular lot and it was not possible for my Sims to eat single servings prepared for themselves or to take plates from group servings. When they tried they would pull out a plate which would then vanish from their hand and they would 'jump' out of the action. Food taken from the fridge as leftovers was also affected in the same way.
The only way they would successfully eat was if they prepared a group meal and served it for other Sims on the lot. The plates put on the table stayed and could be eaten.
I have all EPs installed and all SPs minus holiday and H&M stuff.
I'll look into it.  If you see this before I reply again, please try running the game with testingCheatsEnabled on and upload a log file of the error as a file attachment please.  And I'll see what the problem is.
Ok, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I had completely forgotten about this problem as I haven't played since. I think the problem was down to my own stupid fault. I never download the globals_pack file. I thought I already had it but I hadn't.
I'll play again and see if that was the cause or not but I can't promise how soon that will be.
