Title: a few questions about content to anyone who owns the game
Post by: moo-moo on June 09, 2009, 10:37:33 am
what exactly are the options i CAS like how detailed are the slider options?
how does the pregnancy and birthing work? do they have to go to hospital or is that an option?
is there a censor blur?
can you go shopping for clothes?
how does schooling work?
and finally what in TS3 is the same as in TS2

There are actually quite a few sliders in the cas.  The sliders however are somewhat limited.  Delphy at MTS has a mod that allows you much more latitude with the sliders.  Hope this is helpful.

^What tyler said.  ;D

As for the other things, the pregnancy is a bit different. There aren't chimes anymore when your sim gets pregnant, so it's more of a surprise, which I quite like! The woman also is nauseous and has back aches occasionally during the pregnancy. I'm not sure if they have to go to the hospital or not though. All of mine have so far but I haven't tried to stay at home.

There is a censor blur (rather large one, actually) but if you poke around the net enough you may find ways around that ...  ;)
You don't have to go shopping for clothes as your sims automatically have them all!

Schooling is good; your kids hop on the bus and disappear into the school for a few hours, which I personally don't mind. You also have the option of changing how hard they work at school or what they do while they're there. Once they get home, mine generally do something fun and then at some point in the evening automatically do their homework. It's nice to not have to poke and prod them until they do it. And if they do forget to, they also have to option of finishing it at school.

I do hear the same chimes as TS2 had when a sim gets pregnant. As far as going to the hospital. You will get a notification on the screen saying the baby is coming. You can click on the pregnant sim and send them to the hospital or you can just let them have the baby at home. If you send them to the hospital then if the father is present he will follow them in a different taxi or car if you have one.

They stay at the hospital for a couple of game hours or so and then you see the screen telling you if it's a boy or a girl and then you give the baby a name.

You can also take babies or toddlers with you downtown or anywhere else for that matter. The interactions with the babies are pretty much the same as TS2 except you can tell what their motive levels are now.

Toddlers don't build skill the same way they did in TS2. They have the xylophone, peg whatchamacallit and activity table but you can't build skill levels with them. It's more of the toddler playing with them to get them to grow up well so you can choose a couple of their traits when they age to a child thing.

You still build skills from books, the guitar and chess table like before but you can also attend classes downtown which help build your skills.

But the playing with the specific toys of the toddlers is adding up and as child when the start to build skills they get then credited for.
For example they play with blocks from the activity table and you will see a green status bar over their heads. Every time is it full, it will be later in the childhood credited as skill level when the kid picks up a mechanial skilling device.

Babies are not more just in a diaper, they are wraped in a blanket. Chanchingtables are not more in the game, they chance diapers with a click in the babies pie menue. Toddlers the same way. They need not more to be bathed, just diaper change.

A ton of objects are the same as in Sims2. Seasons kitchen and diningroom, the mission set and more.

thanks for all your answers
im so glad that they can take their babies and toddlers with them now that wasnt and option bewfore so it was quite annoying
i always used to mute it when i was trying for a baby anyway i liked the suprise lol
is there a reason that the changing table is no longer in it i mean wha5t happened to complete nursery sets
but other than that it sounds great are there gunna be any cheats for it though like the money ones and a boolprop type thingamawidget?

Well I think, because we can take the babies and tots everywhere there is no need for a changing table, since you can see the needs of the baby and chance diaper by pie menue. I miss complete nurseries too.

The most boolprob cheats are still working, but you can not type boolprob, just what you want, like testingcheatsenabled true/false. The old money cheat still works the same way.

The reason there are no changing table is because, like the changing table, changing a diaper will raise their hygiene, no more diapers either. Toddlers and babies don't even get baths any more.

The cheat box is opened the same way as before.

One thing I would recommend is when you save your game don't keep saving it to the same file name. Have two different file names. I was using one name to save to and something happened during a save and I lost everything. The sims I had created were in the sim bin but their children were not and my sims lost all of their skills.

My guess is, we can then buy special stuff to build a nursery in their online store someday. 3gah

Why in the hell should you have to buy things separately when they should have come with the game? C'mon, you guys aren't cows to be milked of your money by getting nickled and dimed for content those morons think they can make a profit out of. If they can't be rational about stuff that belongs in the game from the start, then they really need whacked up side the head with an axehandle, and anyone that thinks it's ok to be used as a profit making machine needs to have their credit cards taken away from them until they can pass a test on being mentally competent. It's your money; stand up and demand that these bungholes actually deserve to get any of it by telling them, "quality or no cash!"

These people are masters at pulling in the gullible.
Sell em something new, leave it bland and unattractive, put the good additions in their store, and 1.4 million+ will be lining up with their credit cards.
They had no problem conning those numbers into buying the tripe even after all the negative press. Separating them from their cash via the store will be childs play.
Just something to ponder on. One would think EA. would not be to keen on competition,so it will be interesting to compare the quality of what will be available from their store to what can be legally created for download at the various free sites.

the toddlers can also gain skills when you read with them with shop bought books that show up when they are older for example logic

I looked at the "store" and didn't see much if anything I had to have. I couldn't even tell if the "new" hairstyles were actually new or not. If I want cool new CC for my game, I won't be going to EAxis for  it... what a scam.
