Please explain in more clearer description what we're looking at on this site you referred us to.

I looked at the site and saw a realistic looking figure posing in a bikini set on the front page with a bunch of links to different programs on the left and some product prices listed on the right.

What are we looking at? I saw no reference to skintones or tools to create skintones there. And is this for Sims 3?

This looks suspiciously like an ad to help someone else to make money to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

Looks to me like our first paysite.

LOL! Do you think people really believe that, that model on that site, could be a sim in TS3? No, I don't ever think EA will allow that sort of open-source CC, because of the way they feel, that we the community have corrupted TS2. So uh, don't get you're hopes up too much folks lol. ;)

I thought we weren't here to help people make money? Forgive me if I'm being dense, I just don't feel like wasting the brainpower on it when I feel this lousy.

Daz is a program like poser ... I think they are just posting it for maybe possibly what they would like the skins in sims 3 to look like.

I agree with Care. The OP has a good point as I have heard that the models from TS3 are loosely based on Poser models. BTW there some great shoe meshes on that site. Maybe one day we can use them or others like them in TS3.

Are these things pay site stuff? That's all I wanted to know since I don't know anything about poser programs or stuff like that.

Post by: jaccirocker on June 19, 2009, 06:38:37 pm
No, they aren't pay sites. They are site for a program kinda like Blender or Milkshape or Photoshop.

Okay. Thanks for the clarification!  ;D

No problem at all.

I would like to learn how to make sims 3 skintone and when I do, I will share this wit the community, we need realistic sims. DAz has some pretty posers and models, the skintone on those models will look much better. peggyzone made extremely realistic skintone for the sims 3, if anyone already know.

I create Poser models for college projects, and I can assure you, it is in no way related to Sims 3 specifically (or Sims 3 paysites).

Hmm.....I'm not a big fan of the Sims 3 honestly. But I wouldn't mind making some tutorials when appropriate modding tools are available. But there's only two problems...

1. Poser 7 is expensive (it cost me $300 lol So much for my graphic design major >_<)
2. It's used predominately for animation and not so much modeling (though it does have good modeling tools). I think 3ds Max or Maya would be a better choice (which can create models just as good or better than Poser). But those two are still very expensive.

oh ok, but my question is, how do I pack them as a file for the game? u know if I make this for the sims 2

Title: Re: skintone talk
Post by: Jasumi on June 20, 2009, 12:06:52 am
Hmm....I think we'll have to wait and see what the modders come up with. Because there's probably a specific file format for Sims 3 models. Whatever plugin they use (such as something similar to SimPE) would have to be compatible for Poser.

Personally, I would suggest you extract any models you decide to build as .obj files. This is a universal file format that can probably be converted into a Sims 3 package file in the future.

Now, if you're referring to skintones, that is much simpler. But be aware that the light rendering in Poser is part of what makes the models look so realistic. You can simply extract a .jpeg image from a model in Poser and then use that as a default replacement for Sims 3.

oh ok thax for the info, yeah, I'll wait till they make something that's like the simPE. cuz on my opinion, this game needs a better look, cuz dislike how EA made that crappy skintone and look, my goal is to make sims extremely real. everyboby wants real sims not EA sims lol!

Skin looks great, the eyes are a bit freaky though.  The big if is if they and sims 3 use basically the same uvmapping style (front and back).

Wow! that would be the most excellent thing, anyone could do for the sims community, and that is to make a sim that realistic! I mean that would be really neat if you could pull that off for TS2 game, because in my eyes TS2 deserves a go more than TS3, since TS2 has been out since 2005, and the resources for anything you would want to use, would be right there. I do respect your decision to make it for TS3 though, if thats what you want to do, but it would be equally as great for its predecessor. ;D

SimGurl, I am actually in the process of making better hands for the Sims 2. So in time, I might have high-poly models for it.

Neat! I hate the flat looking hands on the sims in TS2. I would really love to see what you come up with Jasumi, when you finish. ;D

Title: Re: skintone talk
Post by: geezy33 on June 20, 2009, 05:12:51 pm
that's a great idea jasumi, cuz the sims maxis hands sucks, like I say, I'ma wait till they make a simPE to do my project, I just wanna help the community, cuz that my goal to make us simmers happy.
I want the sims 3 to look the looks and have good skintones to make the whole town look real. I love realistic sims

I love realistic sims, too. They are just more interesting somehow.

A preview of the hands I'm making for sims 2:

man, u got remarkable talent, I want to learn this so much, to make this project happen, what program are u using jasumi?

Title: Re: skintone talk
Post by: Jasumi on June 20, 2009, 10:08:31 pm
The hands were created in 3ds Max 2009, I exported them as an object, and then used Milkshape to connect them to a sim body (since currently, the sims community has been using Milkshape to import and export everthing). I imagine the Sims 3 will use Milkshape as well.

You can buy it cheap, too: http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch/

Title: Re: skintone talk
Post by: geezy33 on June 21, 2009, 12:33:06 pm
this is one of the things I've been really thinkin about so much to make everyone happy, here's some of the things I'ma try my best to work on

1.) default skintone
2.) default eyes
3.) better default eye brows
4.) default faces u know like CAS faces in the sims 2

these are my plans, We need this to make the game it self look and feel realistic, I know some people was alittle mad about how the game looked, I was too, but it's time for us modders and creators to take a big step and make this game look better, do u all agree wit me on this? I know people will have fun wit realistic sims like we all did in the sims 2, don't get me wrong, I will alwayz love the sims 2 no matter if the sims 3 is out, I still create stuff for this community to make us all happy.

jasumi, I like your work, cuz u and the rest of the modders out there are very talentive and I respect u all.

Good luck with that, Geezy. I'm sure Sims 3 tools will be out in no time, the modders seem to be gathering data quickly.

Post by: geezy33 on June 21, 2009, 12:40:34 pm
thanks, jasumi, when I get the tools, but I'm wondering how did the others find the file data to make the skintone? this got me alittle bit curious to get my hands fully on this.

Title: Re: skintone talk
Post by: Chaavik on June 21, 2009, 05:34:21 pm
Probably not from the gameplaydata file. It's probably from another file that some of the people have not mentioned but created skintones from. There's a set of skintones over at MTS and one with the adult bits at SexySims2 by the same creator.

The gameplaydata file mainly consists of objects or behaviors associated with objects and activities. I don't know what other files are that consists of skintones, meshes or whatnot.

Geezy, could I ask a favour of you to type using proper language skills and to stop with the damn shortcuts of speech? I really want to be able to read what you're typing out but translating it from the chat type speak is getting the hell on my nerves. I know you're an intelligent person, so could you please post like one and stop it with the crap writing? I'm not picking on you, I've had this issue with other users as well, but no one seems to pick up on just how annoying it is for others to try to read that.

That would go some way to improving them, however the major challenge will be in doing something about those strange body shapes and the Torry Spelling jaws.
