Every time I one of my sims to practice, they'll walk up to the object and then they'll just stop. Like I never told them. I don't have any custom content installed.

Try moving the object away from something that might be blocking your Sim's path to it. See if that will work.

Well it's at the Phoenix Martial Arts academy. None of the martial arts equipment is working, regardless of what items are near it

Well you didn't say if it was on the home lot or vacation lot.  ;D

There is another academy (closer to town) that I used without a problem.

No, every single martial arts object refuses to work. Regardless of what lot I'm on.

Do you have any mods? If so, it's possible one is causing a conflict.

Did you update to at least 2.4.x if you don't have HEL? HEL's version is 3.3.x.

I never had problems using any of the martial arts objects in the Far East vacation town. I'm at a loss to figure out what is causing your problem since you say you removed your mods from the game to figure it out.

I'm installing the latest update now, hopefully that'll fix things

ok, i've installed the patch and have now run into a new problem. Whenever I go to the launcher and push "play sims 3" it says I don't have the disc. The first thing I think to myself is "oh, the disk my be broken or something. So I used the EA download manager to make another copy of the game so i wouldn't need the disk, like I did with "The Sims 2 Apartment Life" when I left the disk in a hotel room. I tried opening the launcher again and it's still saying I don't have a disk. So I can't even see if the problem is solved because a new problem has come up. *sigh* something tells me this isn't even worth the effort that I'm putting into it. :p

To clarify this:

Do you have the actual disc on hand to toss it in and start up the game?

That is very odd. There is one or two mods that allow you to bypass the requirement of using a CD/DVD to start up the game, but I can't say anything more about them. But you can check Pescado's section at MATY or Twallan's section at the orange Sims site to see about them. A hint that I could point you into the right direction unless you already used one of them and it no longer worked for you.

One of his mods is less aggressive/militaristic with quite a bit of features that are similar to Pescado's Awesome Mod.

Right, we were getting rather off off topic :P my bad. I think I'm just gonna go back playing the sims 2 till the next expansion comes out...again. Thanks for your help guys

I don't know about any new EP being slated for release. HEL was a surprise to me when I found out only a month ago that it was going to be released.

believe me, I can wait. This isn't as painstaking as waiting for a sims 2 expansion :P

I had the same game not loading problem after installing patch 2.4. etc.  I now have h.e.l.s. and it loads without connecting to E.A. for a patch. (so far) I've also had a sim play with a martial arts trainer and that works fine. So getting my game to load for about $20 was worth it. However I have found one very minor issue with h.e.l.s. (unless it's some mod I have) my sims LOVE to prepare food with whipped cream from a can :confused:

Aquarius, did you update Sims 3 to 3.1.x recently?

The reason I asked was because of a warning a member from Simbology gave out regarding the latest 3.1.x patch. He said there was a bug involved with the latest patch, and that -if- the game was left unattended for awhile, it can become unplayable. Also mentioned that if the game was played in Window mode, and if the player tab out of the game clicking on anything outside the game, the game becomes unplayable.

I am wondering if this is the issue you're experiencing unless you didn't patch to 3.1.x.

Yeah I got the latest patch, that must be the problem. Leave it to EA to make a patch that actually makes your game worse  1wtf

Okay, uninstall the game and whatever EP/SPs you have. Clean out the registry before you do a new install and go to Sims 3 Programs to download the separate updates up to 3.0.x and install them yourself. Then go into the Launcher and disable the autoupdate feature.

Try that method and see if that will work for you. My game is updated to 3.x.x. I was about to update when I saw Madcat256's comment about the latest patch at Simbology in the Sims 3 section. If he didn't warn us, I would have had the same issue too.

MAKE SURE that you save your game saves and your mods to their own folders on the desktop that you can access. The site does give you thorough instructions saving your mods and game saves before you update the game by hand.

My latest game version is 3.1.004001. I haven't updated to the latest patch.


The above will give you the updates you need to update by hand. Go up to 3.1.004001 and stop there. Test to see if your game will run at that point. Let us know how that works for you.
