Intro Calleigh is 16 years old, she has 3 best friends, Draven, Phoenix and Maggie whom she has known since they were in nursery. Penelope is 14, she has a boyfriend, James, they have been together for about a year. My dad was amazing, I idolised him, he was a fireman and worked long hours but was known in the town for being such a good man, if anybody needed him he was there. He always helped out no matter what the situation was. I loved playing with dad, we danced and hung out and he read me stories. If I fell he was there to pick me up and rub my knees, if I cried he was there to cuddle me and comfort me. I became friends with Maggie first, she let me play with the dolls house with her. We always hung out together, Draven lives with his dad, they don’t get along and we have always secretly wondered if Dravens dad treated Draven right…. Phoenix has always been the sensitive one in the group, he is quiet and really only opens up fully to me. He lives with his mum and little brother, Lukas. His dad left a few years ago. Maggie is the clever one, she likes studying and reading and panics if we have a test at school… One day mum called me and Penelope to her, she was in the living room, she told me dad had died. How I wish I could go back in time and stop dad saving that stupid cat…. Calleigh was very thin for her age but she hardly had time to eat after running round after the little ones. BUT yes its a big one, maybe this little angel is a gift, something that will bring mom around and the family back together. Although that would be cliche and boring, Bring on the drama lol.

However, Call and the others weren't pre-warned of the baby. How she got away with that one I've yet to figure out... She is 14 years old, lives with an alcoholic mother and several younger siblings, she doesnt have any income and needs her education.
On the other hand she is in a stable relationship, she has had plenty of experience raising children and she has a sensible big sister, plus the babys dad wants to be involved.... My best friend who I have known for nearly 10 years is 21. She had her oldest daughter when she was 15, then had another little girl when she was 17 and now has a beautiful little boy who is nearly 2. And she got married to her childrens dad a year ago. She is a brilliant mum and they give their children everything they need and want. However, I used to know a girl who had a baby at 16, she couldnt look after it and handed over custody to her mum.... Its not neccessarily the age that matters, its how they can provide for the baby, how mature they are and how dedicated to the childs life they are going to be.... Though I'm with Katie on how everyone didn't know she was pregnant. Some people don't gain much weight, but pregnancy smacks ya in the face.
Logically speaking, Penelope has the right idea, about adoption, because James is way too immature to accept the gravity of the situation. Saying, "I have a son? Cool" was proof of that. He's a kid and probably thinks you can feed a baby with hugs. However, Penelope, correct as she may be, doesn't have to be such an insensitive B-word about it. I look forward to reading more chapters. |
