Title: Banned from ISA????
Post by: bahnsidhe on November 08, 2010, 04:06:51 am
Hello,

I just tried to visit ISA and when the website came up it said I was banned from the site. It didn't give any reason why, and there are no links to send them an e-mail....

I don't know how I could have gotten banned since I've never even posted at that site. I don't even think I've posted a greeting yet, lol. The only thing I've ever done there is download. So I can't think of any reason why I've been banned.

If anyone could help me out I would be grateful. Even with a contact link so that I can talk to someone over there would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Romney

You could try sending Jenna a PM. She's an admin over there as well as here.

All fixed now. bahnsidhe was yet another unfortunate victim of one of our overzealous spambot filters.

...blame Pescado; he's the one that set them all up. :P

The spamfilters are not OVERZEALOUS. They are EXCELLENT spammer traps, because spammers have this amusing tendency to be scrupulously honest and almost never LIE about their email addresses, like any SENSIBLE person would, so many can be prevented from registering at all simply by banning registration from all easily available free emails...which stops no one from actually getting in because they could just lie about it.

I wasn't complaining, actually -- I happen to LIKE them. We still have issues with humans posing as spambots, but those are easily dealt with.

To deal with those, you just push "Delete account with all posts". Never merely remove the posts, or do anything other than delete them in a way such that they never existed, since making a mark on your site is exactly what they want, and thus if you do anything other than a full Damnatio, you're playing into their hands.

That's how I handle them. I prefer to wipe all problems out of existence completely anyways.

Thanks for the prompt reply and fix of my problem. I appreciate it. Sorry it took so long to get back on here. Internet issues...grrr. I figured it was something like that but wanted to make sure someone didn't hijack my e-mail or account and post in my name... that would have really irritated me...
Thanks again, for all you help.  3yay
