Title: Weddings And Deaths
Post by: nefertiti781 on November 18, 2010, 10:29:27 pm
Hi All
ok so first of all i was just wondering about your sims weddings. do you let them have a huge wedding bash , send them on holiday and get married, or do you have them just get married there and then with no party just the two sims exchanging rings. i myself love to have huge wedding party's for my sims. when i build lots i usually build a large room especially for big wedding partys.
i was also wondering, what do you do with sims urns and stones when they pass on ? do you have a special place in your sims homes for the urns or a cemetery on their home lot or do you move their stones to a community lot ? i have recently been leaving them on the home lot i have built a room for their urns with their portrait above the urns, but then there is a lot of ghosts around the home now lol so my sims lot is very haunted. yea so i was just curious as to what other simmers do when it comes to sims getting married and sims dying.

neff xx

When I had BV installed, I do the wedding and then vacation (honeymoon).

I don't do funerals, just never appealed to me.

On a side note, my 200th post lol :)

The weddings I do are pretty much simple I just invite what's "allowed" when you're inviting people to the party. Then maybe a couple more I just invite over the regular way in case the ones I officially invited don't show for whatever reason. I really want to try like a big wedding with alot more sims just for fun. I loved how I had held a wedding one "sim morning" and the paperboy came over and joined the fun. lol
Funerals well believe it or not I have yet to let or make any of the sims I've made die. There were the "accidents" with the cowplant and visiting sims....but as my lawyers will assure you those were accidents.... I did keep the urns and wanted to do like a little cemetary setup but never got around to it. What you've done sounds interesting however. I'm now wondering if you could set up something like that on a community lot in case you dont want all those ghost sims wondering about your lot all the time.

Lol, Stinkerbella :)

Not a single sim? I'm shocked, haha. Whenever I used to play for just fun, I'd speed up the aging the best I could ;)

Wow, I thought you died long ago, Nefertiti.  ;D

I usually send them on holiday to get them married. Well, actually, at the sea-side, because I'm not really impressed with the mountains and Far East.

And how the hell do you do a funeral?

There is a mod available that enables a funeral to be held. It's only really useful if you have OFB.

The podium to hold it is here:
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=237727
The creator has not updated or even checked into MTS for quite some time, so it's "download at your own risk".
The rest of the project has gone into the abyss, unfortunately.

I'm with you there. When I was first playing TS2 one of my favorite simmies got elderly and I was so upset. Pescado suggested I get this (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,10993.0.html). Most of the time I just use 'aging off' cheat now but Holy Grail still comes in handy.

3yay Thanks Stinkerbella, Nonni...I feel more sim-normal now. I've had only two sims die since I've been playing and I was upset each time;).  I just can't bear to let them go.

In my SLS game Riley and Mickey spent a little too much time in the hot tub...Mickey got out and dropped dead  but she plead for his life, so Mickey lived in the end. Of course Grim decided on his own to move in with them (for an undeclared amount of time) which surprised me, but that's another story. Then there was Vince & Naomi...but you have to let her die & plead for her (or not). Naomi lived too. They were all frozen in time when I saved them and moved on to TS2.

Then Mortimer died suddenly (and I found out about the special gravestone).  Nina didn't get the chance to plead for his life or anything so sadly I let him go.  I've never actually "done away" with any sims in game, I just can't bring myself to lose any of them. When my comp crashed I lost my old TS2 hoods so my old Nina and Don are gone.

My latest hood is about a year old but I keep everyone (except the babes) at the age they started with mostly.  Ok, I hear Jenna laughing at me now.

I'm gonna have to try that Holy Grail mod.
LoL@In my SLS game Riley and Mickey spent a little too much time in the hot tub...Mickey got out and dropped dead.
I can see the headlines now: DEATH BY HOT TUB!
I did let a few sims reach elder when I first started playing The Sims 2. Of course that was when I discovered this site and the insimenator mod and could reverse that.  ;D I also used the rejuvenator *that's the name right? of the green stuff they drink?* There was one family I made that I threw a fit over when I lost them because of my computer crashing. I managed to remake them somewhat the same but I lost interest since I knew they were the "knockoffs" of that family. I also once had a male sim I made he lived alone since I wanted to "find" him his mate. Had him watch the clouds and all of a sudden a satellite landed on him. LOL! I had just moved him in to that house and fixed it up so since I dont usually save right away I had to restart it all over again.

Even worse was it happened at the end of a romantic evening out...that'll put a damper on any evening ;).

In my game, Don woohooed with the gardener girl until he dropped dead.  How's this for a headline:

DEATH BY WOOHOO!

My gosh. What game are you guys playing?

And why don't satellites and woohoo kill my sims.

I have yet to see this mysterious satellite you peoples talk about.

I've only seen the satellite when my sis played. Her favorite Casanova sim was just looking up at the sky one day and WAM! The satellite fell on top of him. My sis kept it as a grave marker for him  1giggle

There is a nice little hack over at MTS, I believe, that when your sims stargaze or watch the clouds, the satellite drops down to splatter them over your yard. I can't believe you've missed the posts I've put up talking about how many times I've killed Don Lothario with that exact same method... Damn, now I'm gonna have to play that hood just to do that today. I'm grumpy and killing him always makes me feel better, for some odd and twisted reason.

1titter Well that is what they did (had been doing) in the hot tub. It was right after that that Mickey got out and dropped dead.  So apparently woohoo can be deadly 2laugh.

Wonder what would a custom memory of the living sim for that occurrence might say 1dreamy: "survived deadly woohoo" or woohoo'd ____ to death",  :D that would be one heck of a memory.

I'm guessing the heat from the hot tub and the heat generated from the woohooing was too much for him LOL! He literally overheated is what my guess is.
Here's a question, has anyone ever had some fireballs fall from the sky? I was about to change the weather using the weather changer from the aspiration section the sims have and I noticed them falling before I changed the weather to fall. I took video of it but has it ever happened to anyone? It looked like meteors falling from the sky. I should upload the video to share with you all.

It's an undesired effect from not having gold/platinum mood before using the weather machine. Has happened to me several times...

Makes sense. She was in the green area of the mood. I thought it was maybe some freaky weather brought on by the Seasons expansion pack. Makes for something cool for a sims movie.

Cool vid, Stinker!

Raven, it is good to know why those fireballs were falling. That could come in handy if you wanted to have it happen for screenshots or movie. :D

I don't think any sim I've created have died. It's a mixture of me being attached to them and hating when my sims have bad memories. IDK why I just can't stand it whenevr a bad memory is burned into my sims' brains! it annoys the heck out of me for some unknown reason :P There have been accidents (house fired, cow plant, electrocutions, ect) but nothing the trusty resurrect-o-phone couldn't fix. The only time I killed a non-NPC/Random townie on purpose was when I wanted to test out the special tombstones. I felt bad and held a funeral for that sim :P

As for weddings...I really only have wedding parties if it shows up in my sims' want slots and if I feel like doing it. Most of the time I'll just invite a few of their friends over and have a quick wedding but if I'm feeling up to it, I'll throw an official party

I understand you Aquarius, none of my Sims have died yet either. As for weddings, yes, they usually have a nice party.

If I'm feeling evil, my test families die, get burned up or have their children carried away by the social worker... Then again, I don't save, so they still live. I make a family to be played, I rarely let them die off. I've got very few elders in my game, to be honest. No gravestones, either... If I like the sims I've made I don't want to lose them...  :-\

For weddings, if it's a photoshoot, I let them have a medium to big wedding. They might take the short version of honeymoon, or long if I feel they deserve it. If it's just a test family or something, I usually just get them married in private without any further ado.

I need more sleep. When you said "photoshoot" for some reason my mind recognized it as "potshot". Then again, one of those during a wedding could turn it into both topics of this thread.

I have a question about the being left at the altar fear. Has anyone had that happen yet? Whether it happened natuarally in the game or forced by you. I was curious to see what that would look like and I actually tried to cancel the wedding but it didn't do anything to impact them negatively. It just basically let me try again at getting them married.
I had the social worker take a kid from me twice before. Of course both times I didn't save either. I actually tried to trap the social worker, thinking that would buy me some time to think of a plan to get the baby back. :D I was of course wrong. LoL! She eventually disappeared along with the baby.

Depending on the cause of the social worker, deleting her and the car (just after she has shown up, not when she has already carried away the kids) might help.

If she shows up because of neglection, then pause, delete the car and her, and use the maxmotives cheat. If it's grades, then use whichever mod available (insim or maybe SimBlender?) to up the grades to above C (between A+ and B is best). Tends to work for me. The no saving way is the safest, however, and the one I use when I intend to have my game saved.

Then again, a no socialworker mod usually works best.

You too? I thought I was odd for having like NO elders in some of my neighborhoods. I don't have many teens either. Most of my families are parents and 2-4 kids and toddlers. And I almost never visit any of my college sims. I don't think any of my University Sims have graduated yet

I have a question about the being left at the altar fear. Has anyone had that happen yet?

The only time I did that was with Cassandra Goth

On the last town I got really involved in before I started socializing in the community, I had one person dump someone at the altar, cinematic and all! It was sooooo weird, too. They seemed like they were in love and out of nowhere, she runs off, very much pregnant, on his butt!

Aw cool lol i wanna see that happen. LOL@ her running off and pregnant. Seems like a double insult.  :D
For me just cancelling it doesn't do much, just like I mentioned it lets you try again so to speak at letting them marry. I might check on youtube to see if anyone has a video posted up about that.
Im gonna have to remember that about the social workers. The first time it happened the mama sim was being stubborn about going to take care of the baby. I clicked for her to go tend to the baby and she walked as if she was going. So I switched to the daddy sim who I was building up his skills *I sometimes let them earn them without cheats* and when I clicked to the mama sim, she was painting so I tried again and she still didnt go to the baby. Her motives weren't low her aspiration level was green. She just didn't want to deal with the baby so by the time I got her to the baby the social worker made her way over. I could have had the dad sim go but I was so occupied with why she wouldn't go, I never thought to get him to do it.
